42nd Annual Conference & Exposition FTZs: WIDE OPEN FOR TRADE September 14 – 17, 2014 O m n i F o r t Wo r t h H o t e l , F o r t Wo r t h , T X WELCOME TO FORT WORTH TA B L E O F C O N T E N T S FT ZS : WI DE O P E N FO R TR A D E Dear Member of the FTZ Community, Welcome to the NAFTZ’s 42nd Annual Conference and Exposition in funfilled downtown Fort Worth, Texas. Our theme this year is: “FTZs: Wide Open for Trade,” reflecting the expanding opportunities available through the FTZ program. Our conference will explore a range of topics critical to grantees and operators/users. Featured speakers include the new Customs and Border Protection Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske, FTZ Board Executive Secretary Andrew McGilvray, and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price. Our conference program offers a broad perspective on the role of the FTZ program in promoting economic development and competitiveness, as well as the practical knowledge that grantees and operator/users need to fully benefit from the program. Along with general sessions on the Automated Commercial Environment and CBP’s Focused Assessment Program, the conference will offer specialized tracks for Grantees, Operator/Users, and the Petroleum sector, as well as a Fundamentals track for those new to the FTZ program. The conference will also offer opportunities for roundtable discussions, networking, and Texas-style food and fun. Opportunities are indeed wide-open for members of FTZ community. According to the latest Annual Report from the FTZ Board, more than 3,000 companies and 390,000 American workers are operating in foreign-trade zones today. Exports from FTZs reached a record $79.5 billion in 2013, more than doubling since President Obama launched the National Export Initiative. The Alternative Site Framework and the streamlined FTZ Board regulations have combined to make the program more user-friendly than ever to small and medium-sized enterprises. Again we welcome you to Fort Worth to explore the wide-open opportunities available through the FTZ program!
