Carapace Rock Science is the premier manufacturer
of lightweight hollow fiber-reinforced concrete
boulders, pre-cast waterfalls, solid stepping stones and
rock panels. These products are used by both
professionals and homeowners in a variety of
landscape, waterscape and xeriscape applications.
Boulders are most often used in landscape accent and
design, but they are also regularly used for soil
retention, custom waterfall and swimming pool design
and even wellhead and stump covers. They can be
easily moved without heavy equipment but stay put
once placed. Stepping stones make beautiful walkways
and planter bed borders, and are also used as fireplace
veneers, etc. Our rock panels are most often used by
professional waterfall installers to create large water
structures, including grottos.
The Carapace method of rock molding and manufacturing is an original process previously unknown in the
concrete industry. Years of experience and research utilizing the most technologically advanced materials and
methods result in an extremely realistic look and a superior level of quality throughout the product line.
Naturally derived coloring pigments are present through the entire cross section of the products and the
proprietary process creates a realistic, rich and warm tone, with excellent color stability. Products age
beautifully, and are less prone to algae and mold growth. All products have a uniform thickness, which creates
exceptional strength and durability. On average, items are ½” to 1” thick, based on the size of the item.
All Carapace products are molded directly from
natural rocks obtained from various areas of the
country. Careful attention is taken to capture every
detail of the original item. Our state of the art
manufacturing process then eliminates surface
blemishes common with other methods. The result is
a superior product, one that is very hard to distinguish
from the original item molded. In fact, they are often
mistaken for natural rocks at first view. In addition,
when a customer uses Carapace products, the impact
on our environment is reduced since the items do not
have to be mined or quarried. More importantly, the
entire manufacturing process has been carefully
engineered to be extremely Earth friendly.
