12th Annual Teeny Awards!
• Established in 2002, the Teeny Awards is a
student theatre arts recognition program,
patterned after the Tony Awards.
• Its mission is to recognize and celebrate the talented
theatre students across the East End of Long Island, to
encourage them to pursue their dreams, and to
stimulate local interest while showcasing the value of
theatre education in a well-rounded school curriculum.
• Qualified judges attend plays at participating high schools throughout the
East End and use a specially designed rubric to score students. The
highest-scoring students are nominees and the highest-scoring student is
the winner in his or her category.
• The award categories include Acting, Supporting Acting, Choreography,
Set Design, Poster Art, Outstanding Performance and Innovations in
Theatre Education. In addition, Stage Managers are recognized.
• On June 9, 2013, nominees and their families and friends will attend a
gala awards ceremony. Winners are presented with an elegant glass
trophy and performances from the shows through the year are presented. It is a special afternoon dedicated to excellence in Theatre Arts
Education.
This year marks the Teeny Awards 11-year anniversary! Please help us celebrate by sponsoring your school’s theatre league and supporting this
unique program. For more information, please contact East End Arts at 631727-0900 or visit www.eastendarts.org.
