Barry and Batya Segal are the Founders of Vision for Israel, a non-profit, charitable organization established to help rebuild
the nation of Israel, both physically and spiritually. In addition, the Segals are internationally known musicians, worship leaders,
Biblical teachers, and television hosts.
The story of Vision for Israel began in February of 1996 when the Segal family was touched by the pain that affects far too
many Israelis. Right before Passover, Barry and Batya’s older daughter lost three teenage friends in a bus that was attacked by a
Hamas suicide bomber. Then, less than two weeks later, a girl she was training in the army was murdered when a Hamas terrorist blew up a different bus. These were buses their daughter took each week between home and the base where she was serving.
In the wake of that Passover in 1996, Barry and Batya reacted by assisting hundreds of families torn apart by terrorism. Seeking
to do more to help, later that year the Segals opened the first Joseph Storehouse humanitarian aid center in the Judean Hills just
outside of Jerusalem. There they began to build the organization that became Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse, today
an international non-profit organization that supplies essential humanitarian aid to impoverished Israelis — both Jews and
Arabs — and which helps local Israeli organizations that are desperately in need of many important supplies. Vision for Israel
also has been a source of spiritual and physical aid to the nations by spreading accurate and prayerful information about Israel
through the Jerusalem News Network (www.jnnnews.com) and by helping in the wake of humanitarian crises around the world,
including sending aid in the aftermath of the tsunami in Sri Lanka and the hurricanes that struck New Orleans and Texas in
the USA, and bringing aid to the Jewish populations of Romania, Hungary, England, Russia and Moldova.
Batya Segal first became internationally recognized for the rich worship music that she and her husband Barry Segal pioneered
together. Batya was born in Jerusalem to an Orthodox Jewish Yemenite family, and she has infused the rich sounds of her
heritage into her music, along with the faith kindled in her after a profound experience of encounter with the Messiah Yeshua
( Jesus). Batya, as a song writer and Barry as a musician, soon became well known through their Messianic music and teaching.
Barry and Batya now have a number of CDs, including their latest on Shabbat called Day Seven, in addition to Sh’ma Yisrael,
Go Through the Gates, and Adonai, as well as a music DVD, Timeless Sounds (available at their online store www.greetingsfromjerusalem.com).
Barry Segal, in addition to being the Co-founder of Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse, is also well known as a musician
and international Bible speaker. He is the publisher of the Jerusalem News Network, and the host and producer of the television
series “Roots & Reflections”— a fascinating view of life in Israel today, revealing a vibrant, exciting country full of history and
spiritual significance.
Barry grew up in the USA and encountered the Messiah when he was a young musician living a colorful lifestyle in Detroit and
Cleveland. For a Jewish person to become a believer is always challenging, leading to potential rejection from family and friends.
After leading worship music and pastoring a fellowship in America for several years, as well as being a TV producer, Barry made
aliyah, moving to live in Israel, where he met and married Batya. Together they founded the ministry that originated in 1993,
was forever shaped by events that touched their lives in 1996, and which was formalized under the name Vision for Israel in
1999.
Barry is also the congregational leader of the Moriah Gatherings in the United Kingdom, comprised of fellowships of Jews and
Gentiles sharing a deep and abiding connection to the land and people of Israel.
