Flyer Youth Hansa Festival Lippstadt 2012 Englisch
Lippstadt was founded
over 800 years ago by
the local nobleman
Bernhard II. zur Lippe. It
has developed as the oldest chartered
town in Westphalia from a
farming town to a
flourishing trading and
hanseatic town. At
present Lippstadt is the biggest town in
the district of Soest as well as its
dynamic centre. The University of
Applied Sciences with more than
1.000 students creates a young
urban atmosphere. Take a
leisurely stroll and search for traces of the
past. Discover the charm and the
attractiveness of Lippstadt, it is
reflected by the very special atmosphere
of the city. The lively hustle and bustle in
the town centre and
pedestrian zone, touring
minstrels and carousels for
children cause Lippstadt to
be very attractive to
families. Retailshops in
Lippstadt boast goods on
the level of a big city
which make every
shopping spree an
adventure. Lippstadt has got
something for everybody with
its many cosy cafés, bistros and
restaurants – the right place to
relax after shopping lively
facets of Lippstadt. You will be thrilled by
this lovely town located
on the river “Lippe”
which serves as a link to
both traditional and
modern life. The various
guided tours in Lippstadt are especially
exciting and informative. Light, water,
life, this is the image of Lippstadt. Water
is the absolute essence of this
unique town. Discover hidden,
romantic areas along the
waterways. Take a break at one
of Lippstadt’s many fountains or the city
park “Grüner Winkel” while spending time
on a discovery tour of the town centre.
Lippstadt leaves you alert and refreshed!
When the lights are switched on,
Lippstadt presents itself in its most
splendid manner. The focus is clearly on
beautifully illuminated architecture which
invites you for an evening stroll. Follow the
quaint alleys or promenades dipped in
light to extraordinary lighting objects,
or follow the colourful lights of
the Lippstadt bar scene.
Strong traditions have their
roots in Lippstadt. They are
the reason for many illustrious
festivals all year long. People
love to celebrate, whether it is
a large folk festival like the “autumn fair”
or during several fun fairs when the buzz
of activity and parties determine the mood
in town: “Springtime in Lippstadt”, “Old
Town Festival”, “Culinary Lippstadt” the
“Christmas Market” with its ice rink under
an illuminated roof, are all
part of what makes
Lippstadt a town to
remember. Well - known
national and international
artists of all kinds give a guest
performance in the modern town theatre
whose annual repertoire and concert
programme leaves nothing to be desired.
Cultural life in Lippstadt – that is a most
essential and much appreciated part of
creating an active life in this traditional
Hanseatic town.
