Reciprocal Spotlight – Rogue Valley Country Club
As a full Golf Member at Roseburg Country Club, one of the many benefits of being a member is the
reciprocal program that we are involved in with many clubs from all around the Pacific Northwest. This month, I
would like to spotlight the Rogue Valley Country Club. Rogue Valley Country Club is a beautiful 27 Hole Private
Club located in Medford, Oregon. The golf course is not only beautiful but also challenging. It offers multiple
sets of tees, designed to maximize enjoyment for players of all ability levels. The greens are fast and challenging, with plenty of character. If you haven’t played the Rogue Valley Country Club, I would encourage you to
take advantage of our reciprocal agreement with them and take a trip to Medford and play. Head Golf Professional Tracy Snyder and his staff will do an excellent job making you feel welcome. Both myself and my Assistant Professional Cris Risley would love to make you a tee time at the Rogue Valley Country Club. For more
information about the Rogue Valley Country Club or any of the other reciprocal clubs, stop by the Golf Shop.
Abby’s Invitational
The Abby’s Invitational, sponsored by Abby’s Legendary Pizza, Michelob Ultra and Pepsi will be played
June 18th & 19th here at the Roseburg Country Club. This Two Person Chapman once again highlights the tournament season here at RCC and is one of the biggest tournaments in the state. I am excited to once again host
this event and would like to thank Abby’s Legendary Pizza, Michelob Ultra and Pepsi for everything they do to
make this event so amazing. I will also be looking for some volunteers to help me with the tournament, if you
are interested in helping, please stop by the Golf Shop and let me know.
RCC Junior Golf
The Roseburg Country Club Junior Golf Program will be starting Monday June 27 th. This year the Junior Golf Program will be open to Members kids, Members grandchildren and open to the public as well. Juniors
from 8 to 18 will be eligible, with divisions for 3 Holers, 5 Holers & 9 Holers. Clinics will be offered every Junior
Day designed to introduce Juniors to the fundamentals of golf as well as teaching etiquette and rules. My Assistant Professional Cris Risley and myself are very excited for Junior Golf. Information about Junior Golf is included in this newsletter. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to stop by the Golf Shop and ask.
Family Golf Night and RCC Couples Golf

June 3rd, 10th & 24th.

From the Greens,
By Richard Weight, Golf Course Superintendent
It is that time of year again when golf really picks up. It is also that time of year again to remind those of you
who play golf and use a golf cart as your transportation while golfing; please keep your golf cart on the cart path
when you are around greens and tees. If you are unable to do so due to physical limitations please abide by the 30
foot rule around greens and tees. Following these very common rules set at every golf course will minimize
turf damage from compaction and help maintain healthy turf on your golf course and those you visit from time to
time.
Lawn Tip: Fertilizing your lawn this month with a slow release
formulation will give it the nutrition it needs to survive the early heat
and drought stresses of summer. Carbohydrate reserves in the turf
have been nearly depleted by this time and it is critical to maintain
fertility levels in the soil. Use a fertilizer with a slow release nitrogen
source to minimize burning of the leaf blade and excessive growth
of the canopy. Repeat this application every 8 to 12 weeks depending on your application rate. Remember to water the fertilizer in after
applying.
Friendly reminder………..please repair your ball marks and replace your divots…….thank you.
18-Hole Ladies
Nif-T-Niners
By: Sherry Cooley, Captain
By Sue Soares
The 18-hole ladies golf group is ready for the
course. Our course is beautiful and in great
shape for all those pars and birdies. Anyone with
a 39.0 or less USGA handicap is welcome to join
us. We would love to have you.
Now that summer is here, this means longer days to play
golf @ our great country club. By the time this newsletter
comes out we will have already started our Friday night
couples and i hope it will be a wonderful success.
Our first tournament finished today. The Solheim tournament consisted of playing best ball
and scramble the first week, then match play
against two different players for 9 holes each the
second week. The RED team won. Congratulations.
A big thank you to Brian and Cris who are always willing to help us out with scorecards, scoring and rules or anything we need. You TWO are
great. See you on the course!

The Niftee Niners would like to welcome our newest
members: Janice Parker & Susan Reisman. We are excited
to have these wonderful ladies join our group. The Niftee
Niners Friendship Tournament will be June 9th. Always a
fun time.
Please check the social calendar for the upcoming
events that our hardworking social committee has organized for us. In the words of Marcel Proust (a French novelist) "let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they
are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom". Happy Father's Day to all you dads and I hope everyone has a great month of June.

RCC Men’s Senior’s
Gary Dykeman
Dean Martin once said: “If you drink, don’t drive. Don’t even putt.”
On Friday the 27th the Seniors held a one man, scramble
tournament which was fun and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. The winner for low gross was Gary Dykeman with a 74,
second place was taken by Jim Trowbridge with a 76. There was
a tie for low net, Mike Coen and Chuck Moore each shot a 58.
The Gangsome begins play on Mondays at 10:00 am, and
on Wednesday and Fridays at
9:00. If you are over the age of
50, please come out and join the
gang.
We also administer the
Seniors play which includes a
onetime fee of $60.00 for the
year, and we conduct a tournament once a month. The payouts aren’t very big but we do
have fun. So, we continue an
invitation to all male members
over the age of 50 to join us.

Clint Newell 3 Man Scramble
I would like to take this chance to thank Clint Newell for once again sponsoring the Clint Newell 3 Man Scramble this year. 180 players from all over the state enjoyed a great and challenging weekend of golf. Clint Newell, Scott Simpson and there entire committee did a fantastic job making it a great tournament. I also want to
thank our Golf Course Superintendent Richard Weight and his crew for doing such an amazing job. The golf
course was in amazing shape and the greens were smooth and fast. Results for the Clint Newell Tournament
