New name…coming soon! As mentioned in previous news -‐letters we are going through an exciting period of change at the moment. One element of which is our change of name to Kirk Hammerton Nursery School. This is taking place on a rolling basis over the next few weeks with a final launch of our name and logo at the open day at the end of September You choose At the end of term party we asked you to vote for a new item to buy for playgroup. The choice was between multi-‐sensory building blocks or ‘Goldilocks and the Three bears’ puppets. The bears won and are on order at the moment -‐ and will be making an appearance in a Learning Journey near you very soon! Official opening of our new outdoor area -‐ Saturday 27th September 10-‐12pm The summer holidays have seen a transformation of our outdoor area and all the structural work is now complete. A whole beach full of sand has been delivered, a performance stage constructed, a mud patch dug complete with a revamped mud kitchen, two new climbing frames, a magical mosaic path laid plus lots more… We are still fundraising for equipment, so we are not yet finished, but we want to celebrate our new area with anyone who wants to join us. Please come along to an open morning on Saturday 27th September 10-‐12pm where you can have a play and an explore of all the new equipment. We especially hope our leavers can come along and play as it was your fundraising and ideas that helped us create such a S
fabulous play and learning area. End of Term Party Thank you’s Thank you to all the parents, carers and children who came to our end of term party on the last day of term. It was a lovely festival theme with sunshine, tents, music and picnic food to enjoy. Thank you to all the mums who baked. To all the staff for their help in making the day so successful, it was so lovely to hear the children singing all together. Sarah Smith and Katie Hanson for doing the raffle for pampered chef which raised enough money for us to buy some new tools and toys for the sandpit area. Special thanks to all the parents for their combined leaving gift of the tree trunk climbing frame (above) – it is very special to have something to remind us of all those lovely children that other children can enjoy and benefit from. www.kirkhammertonplaygroup.co.uk
