DEAR LIED PATRONS - Lied Center for Performing Arts
DEAR LIED PATRONS,
WELCOME TO THE LIED CENTER’S 2016–2017 SEASON! Every season we present
something for everyone and this year is no exception with a vast variety of
performances by many of the world’s greatest artists.
Thanks to the generosity of University of Nebraska alumnus Glenn Korff, Broadway
at the Lied has been transformed forever and we are thrilled to host the Nebraska
premiere of the hit musical Matilda as well as Broadway superstar Idina Menzel.
We also welcome some of the biggest names in their respective genres: dance
legend Twyla Tharp, blues icon Buddy Guy, country music star Clint Black and the
hilarious comedian Brian Regan.
This is also a spectacular season for classical music lovers who will delight in a
hugely diverse program featuring the incomparable Itzhak Perlman, the return of
our unique Piano Series program (which celebrates its fourth season this year), and
we couldn’t be prouder to continue the Lied Center’s tradition of bringing the finest
orchestras in the world to Nebraska with an American classic, the Boston Pops.
If you are not currently a season ticket holder, we hope you will consider joining us
for four or more shows this season. Season ticket holders enjoy discounted tickets,
along with other perks, and we are pleased to offer Lied patrons the opportunity
to select their own seats at liedcenter.org.
Every season we are inspired and entertained by the artists that come to the Lied
Center. We are also inspired by your commitment to this organization and its mission
to transform lives across the state. We look forward to seeing you at the Lied soon!

HOW TO SUBSCRIBE
HOW CAN I GET THE BEST SEATS?
CREATE YOUR SEASON PACKAGE
Season ticket holders receive the first
opportunity to purchase popular shows
before they sell out. Enjoy better seating
locations than single ticket buyers and avoid
higher individual ticket fees by ordering now!
Below are some things you can do to get first
choice for seating.
For the first time ever, the Lied Center is thrilled
to offer all ticket buyers the opportunity to
select their own seats as part of their season
ticket order.
1. Get your order in early! This is the best (and
easiest) thing you can do to get your order
to the front of the line.
2.Double check your order! Errors on
your order form can delay the process,
as it requires you to be contacted for
clarification.
3. Donate to the Friends of Lied! Gifts of more
than $1,000 earn preferred seating. For
more information visit the Friends of Lied
website: www.liedcenter.org/friends-lied
REVIEW THE DETAILS
A subscription is an order of four or more
events. The more you order, the more you
save! Order now.
Season tickets will be mailed in mid to late
August. Payment will be verified before
tickets are mailed.
If your first choice is not available for a
particular performance, tickets at the next
lowest price will be substituted and you will
be refunded the difference.

“I HAD SO MUCH FUN LEARNING AFRICAN DANCE AND ABOUT THE CULTURE! IT WAS A VERY
ENRICHING EXPERIENCE—ONCE IN A LIFETIME.”
- UNL dance student following a Cirque Zuma Zuma Dance Workshop
Beyond the stage, Lied Center artists enrich the lives of Nebraska students in life transforming
master classes, Q&A sessions, workshops and more. The Lied Center requests that every artist shares
their expertise with students during their time in Nebraska. Imagine being a cello student and
having the opportunity to take a lesson from Yo-Yo Ma, or a young dance student participating in a
master class led by an Alvin Ailey principal dancer. These are just two of the countless opportunities
afforded to UNL students over the past two and a half decades.
During the 15/16 season, the Lied Center facilitated engagements with artists including Chris
Thile and the Punch Brothers, Cantus, Take 6, the Russian National Orchestra, Parsons Dance, Doc
Severinsen, Ballet Trockadero and cast members from some of the most celebrated shows on
Broadway including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and A Gentleman’s Guide to
Love & Murder, among others.
Becoming a member of the Friends of Lied makes magical moments like these happen. Will you
help us continue to bring life changing moments like these to Nebraska students?
