ANNUAL REPORT
2014
Dear friends,
I would like to recall an event at this point that happened in
2014.
US President Barack Obama when meeting with the Dalai
Lama in February 2014 at the White House stressed the importance of protecting the human rights of Tibetans in China
and also praised the efforts of non-violence and dialogue.
In the Czech Republic the legacy of Vaclav Havel is still present.
The civic society which is aware of Tibetan issue feels compassion with Tibetan nation. It seems that the number of educated, understanding and tolerant people in this country is
growing – measured through the lens of our organization. More
and more enthusiastic volunteers organize film screenings in
their cities. Increasing number of donors along with the
financial support also donate their time and effort. The compassion and understanding despite differences in religion is
also seen in the actions of a pastor in a small Eastern Bohemian
village, who, after having attended our lecture, organized
a fundraising campaign among parishioners to help support the
education of young Tibetan monks.
You can read more about the aid projects, or their effect on the
education of the youngest Tibetans, or on a dignified old age of
the oldest ones in the Annual Report for the year 2014. In this
foreword, I would like to highlight the most important – and
that is, the organisation is surrounded by numerous little
islands of people with positive mindsets willing to help selflessly, sacrificing their time and resources.
Like the words of Barack Obama, also our projects may give the
Tibetans one of the most important things in life – hope.
A hope that things will get better, and that people in the world
are not indifferent to the situation in Tibet.
With hope in 2015
Ing. Jana Neboráková
director of MOST, o. p. s.
“With much joy we extend our heartiest congratulations to all
the members and staff of MOST, o.p.s., Czech Republic for
publishing its annual report. We take this opportunity to
applaud them for their charity work, which is both widespread
and extensive in contents for Tibetans in Tibet and in exile and
particularly for Tibetan children and elders at Tibetan Homes
Foundation. MOST, o.p.s. is a heroic initiative pushed forward
by compassionate young Czech people who are in the job with
their heart and soul. We sincerely wish and pray that the
association will grow further in its service towards the education of Tibetan Children and the welfare of Tibetan people.”

Goals and mission
Promoting education and improving the living conditions of
thousands of children, nomads, Tibetan refugees and old people
has been our mission since 2004. We are engaged in development and humanitarian aid in the Indian Himalayas and
Tibet. We build and support local schools; we keep the craft
tradition by establishing sheltered workshops. Thanks to
donors in the project Sponsorship we help Tibetan children,
monks and nuns in exile and Tibetan monastic schools and
seniors without families.
For the Czech public, we hold cultural and educational events
throughout the year, the largest of which is the Festival
ProTibet. Through our educational programs for schools we
offer a variety of activities such as certified courses, lectures
and workshops. We collaborate with volunteers, universities
and non-profit organizations in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Up to 17. 1. 2014 our organization existed as a civic association

SPONSORSHIP – 475 STORIES
This project focuses on improving the living conditions of individual children, and the elderly Tibetan refugees who need
our help most. Since 2006 we have regularly assisted 475
people in the Indian Himalayas in the Sponsorship project.
In 2014 we provided food, medicine, clothing and school
supplies. Tibetan children in exile, Tibetan and Indian monks,
including small monks, were provided training in their native
language. In summer, we visited all people involved in our
projects and checked the efficiency of transmitted donations.
We thank all donors for cooperation!
189 Tibetan children
The Sponsorship project helps Tibetan children living in Tibet,
but also children who fled because of political problems and to
get education in India. In 2014 we helped 31 poorest children
in Tibet who attend the first grade at the Gyalten School in the
Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.
In India, we continued our collaboration with the SOS village
Tibetan Homes Foundation, which has more than 2 500 children. It was founded in 1962 by HH the Dalai Lama for children
refugees. Through our Project, 158 of these children have been
able to get good education. We provided clothes; food and medical care for them.
182 monks and nuns
Since 2006, we have been improve living conditions and quality
of education for 182 young monks and nuns in seven convent
schools in northern and southern India. During the school year
the monks can learn traditional subjects such as Tibetan,
Tibetan grammar, Buddhist rituals, but also modern subjects
such as English, biology or mathematics.
104 Tibetan elderly people
In this project, we are helping Tibetan seniors who live in exile
villages in northern India. They fled to India in the sixties of the
20th century along with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Today,
unfortunately, they live destitute and often without families.
In 2014 we helped 104 grandmothers and grandfathers and
enabled them to improve their living conditions.
“It was great to meet ‘my’ Tibetan grandfather in the Himalayas. His name is Tseten and for almost all his life he led a nomadic life. Now he lives in the village Sumdho. With the help of
interpreters I was able to have a little chat with him at his
home. He told me he had been sick and he was grateful for the
pills he had got from me. Now he can walk again and his health
improved. When we arrived, he
even came to greet us at the
door."
From the memories of the
patroness of the Project, the
Czech actress Nela Boudová.
Teaching in Tibetan exile school
SCHOOL PROTIBET
Supporting education of children and adults in the outlying
plains is key for the residents’ confidence in finding their
bearings in a complex world and finding a job. In the Project
School ProTibet we support the four major schools in Tibet
and India with a capacity of 740 children. In 2014 we donated 14,488 EUR for their development.
Gyalten school (Tibet)
In 2014 we also supported the non-governmental school
Gyalten lying in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Kardze.
This school is the only one in the area that offers free education, food and accommodation for 400 children from the
nearby villages. For some of them we have provided school
supplies, textbooks, clothing and medicines in the value of
3,606 EUR. Furthermore, we contribute to the salaries of
teachers and help fund school meals. In the upcoming years we
will continue to repair the residential rooms that are in
disrepair, and we want to build an adequate supply of drinking
water.
Drokpa centre (Tibet)
In 2014, in collaboration with the local Tibetan NGO, the construction and decoration of classrooms and kitchen of Drokpa
centre, located in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Tsolho,
was completed. We donated the amount of 3,262 EUR. The
Centre serves to educate up to 200 children of displaced
nomads. At the same time it provides room for local villagers
who can teach their traditions to younger generation. The
Centre is led by experienced teachers who also provide educational materials and access to the Internet.
Nunnery in Kaza (India)
In 2014, in collaboration with Sapan Foundation, we kept on
doing finishing touches on the construction and equipping the
school using an amount of 5,430 EUR. Since then eighteen
nuns have been studying there and the monastery has simultaneously become an important hub for local residents from all
over the valley. In the summer, our people came to check the
use of the donations in the school. In the upcoming year we
would like to continue and finish the construction of the
second half of the school.
Nomadic school (India)
Near the Tibetan border in remote villages in Changthtang we
help increase literacy of more than 150 children aged 6 to 16
years. In winter 2014 we held a three-month training program
for 45 children from the poorest nomadic families coming from
villages Puga and Sumdho. The training was managed by the
local teachers. We built this mobile school near the Tibetan
border in 2011 and in 2014 it was completely renovated to
serve even in freezing temperatures -35 °C.
We also provide training for 112 children in two other villages
Henle and Nyoma, in collaboration with the Swiss Foundation
Amala.
Medical examination of children in the exile village
DOCTORS PROTIBET
Health is the most important thing and therefore in 2014
we focused on providing medical care for more than 100
sick children and the elderly. We helped those who had no
money for treatment of serious illnesses or basic medical
supplies.
Rescuing children's lives
In 2014 we provided treatment to 8 children who became ill
with tuberculosis. All of them live without parents in the SOS
village Tibetan Homes Foundation in northern India, and had no
money for the treatment. We provided 3,806 EUR. We also
started to perform preventive examinations on the children
who had been suspected of having tuberculosis or hepatitis.
Therefore we help in time so that the children have a greater
chance to recover. These medical examinations are subsidized
through donations from gift certificates “Doctors ProTibet”.
Wheelchair for Tibetan grandfather
In 2014 we also focused on the care of immobile elderly
destitute men, living in remote Himalayan villages above
4,500 meters and in the homes for the elderly in northern India.
We arranged for them 100 crutches and five wheelchairs to be
mobile within their capabilities and able to live in dignifying
conditions. Funds for these devices have been secured from
the donations of gift certificates called “Wheelchair”.
When dealing with the Health Kalon, we found that currently
there is only one medical facility for tuberculosis treatment. Its
capacity of forty-two beds is absolutely inadequate for the
Tibetans.
We have learned that Tibetan healthcare in India has been undergoing a reform in recent years. Health insurance, which
is also available for the whole families, is being introduced to
cover the healthcare costs. Symbolical cash payments still
remains open to impecunious Tibetans.

FAIR WORKSHOPS PROTIBET
Sewing rooms ProTibet Tailoring
In 2014 we established another sewing room based on fair
trade in Dharamsala. The first one was built in 2011 in Ladakh
in the Himalayas. Their purpose is to educate the poor Tibetan
women and offer them a job in a region with high unemployment. Since 2011 we have trained both men and women, and
expanded the range of products with traditional clothing and
textile accessories. The first sewing room has been operating
since 2013, independently of our assistance. As for the second
sewing room, located in Dharamsala where the Dalai Lama
resides, we have been helping it to ensure sales of textile
accessories through Czech companies. In order to expand our
portfolio of textile products we also started with preparation
of designs of screen-printing techniques.
Weaving room
Products from these weaving rooms include woven shawls,
rugs, bags and knitted hats and socks. They are produced by
nomad women in Ladakh and women in a village near the
Tibetan border Demul. These activities came up as the initiative
of local active women, who provide sustenance to their
families and support local school.
Glass workroom
In 2014 we started to cooperate with an art glass workroom
staffed by young Tibetan artists. From their original works
made of Murano glass we brought glass beads to the Czech
Republic, which can be bought in our e-shop.
E-SHOP PROTIBET – WWW.SHOP.PROTIBET.CZ
In our e-shop you can get traditional Tibetan handmade products from nomadic Tibetan women who work in sheltered
workshops. We also work with many other handicraft shops.
We have been supporting all of these shops by purchasing their
products, which in turn we sell at our events or as corporate
or VIP gifts.
In 2014, in cooperation with the publishing house Verzone,
we released a CD with Himalayan tales, told by the renowned Czech actors – Bára Hrzánová, Jiří Lábus, Nela
Boudová and Vladimír Javorský. The revenue from the shop is
used to fund our development and educational projects.

GOAT PROTIBET
With the support of 50 nomadic families who live in difficult
conditions at altitudes above 4,500 meters above sea level
near the Tibetan border, we began cooperation with the
Tibetan government in exile in 2010. These families were
unfortunately affected by last year's devastating heavy snowfall, so we focused our help on them. Since 2010, they and
other families in the area received a total of 635 Kashmiri
goats. We also provided them with the means to purchase food
for the event of further disasters.
to exile villages in central Ladakh, where they try to find a job.
It is very difficult; many of them could not go to school and are
only able to look after the cattle.
In our e-shop you can buy a healthy Kashmiri goat through gift
certificate. The goat is then personally forwarded to nomadic
families every year. Thanks to this families have enough milk,
cheese and wool for winter and in the following year their goats
also have kids.
In 2014 we donated another 125 Kashmiri goats to 16 of the
poorest families to enable them to continue in the traditional
way of life. These families came from the Changthang area of
the village Sumdho. This way we help to keep their herds so
that families do not have to be relocated.
In the area near the Tibetan border Changthang nomadic
families live a traditional way of life like they did earlier at home
in Tibet. They are an important element of Tibetan culture
even today, their population in the area is over 1,500. The
nomads take care of goats and sheep in particular. Animals
produce milk, butter, a bit of wool and pashmina. These products are sufficient to live on during summer and in winter
the families have to buy food for the goats. They obtain money
by selling wool rugs and woven or knitted products. However,
if they lose the greater part of a herd of goats, they cease to be
self-sufficient and cannot keep up on the plains. The poorest of
them are forced to sell the remaining herd and must relocate

EDUCATION AND INFORMATION PROGRAMMES IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Since 2004 we have been organizing a series of cultural and
educational events for Czech schools and the public. The most
important of these is the Festival ProTibet, which in recent
years following the contribution of many volunteers could be
held in nearly 32 cities. In 2014 we dedicated our educational
project to Tibet and Burma and familiarized not only schools, but
also the public with the problems of development cooperation
and humanitarian aid.
ProTibet Festival 2014
During the 13th season of the festival more than a hundred events
took place in thirty two cities. Vanishing Himalayan culture,
human rights issues and protection of natural and cultural
heritage were presented through film screenings, exhibitions and
debates. In Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Ostrava and other places
foreign artists such as the dancer Tenzin Tsedup had their performance. The performers were not only native Tibetans, but
also renowned travellers or experts in the field of development
and humanitarian aid.
We should like to express gratitude for the support of the festival
to the statutory city of Olomouc, municipal district Moravian
Ostrava and Přívoz and many cooperating volunteers, institutions
and universities. Proceeds in the amount of 2,369 EUR is donated
to children from school Gyalten in Tibet.
Tibet and Burma – intersections of development
Schools and the public have been familiarized in this educational project with the situation and the specifics of Tibet
and Burma. The project was a cooperation with the organization People in Need. We focused on human rights issues,
cultural differences and migration in the context of global
issues. In 2014 our interactive programs were attended
by over 1,500 pupils and students of primary, secondary
schools and universities. Many schools are also involved in
our projects in the Himalayas. Twenty schools rented our
traveling exhibitions and other educational materials.
During the last two years, we trained over 300 teachers in our
accredited courses with the participation of native Tibetans
and Burmese. They used the methodology called “Tibet and
Burma – the intersection of development”. Within this project
we addressed the public with a series of lectures, film
screenings, debates, project website and photo exhibition
“Tibet and Burma at a crossroads”. During the project, the exhibition was exposed 19 times in the big cities of the Czech
Republic, eg. At the Forum 2000 conference in Žofín and in
large shopping centers in Prague.
Meeting with Dalai Lama
PEOPLE
Encounter with His Holiness the Dalai Lama
In the summer we went to see HH the Dalai Lama in his
headquarters in Dharamsala. He gave a blessing to all who
participate in our projects. Because he doesn’t hold any political office, we also met with the key representatives of the
Tibetan government in exile. The Prime Minister Dr. Lobsang
Sangay talked about problems in health care and education and
we also discussed supervision for our donations. The Health
Kalon Mr. Wangchuk Dr. Tsering filled us in about current health
issues in the Tibetan exile villages, especially about the need for
prevention and treatment of tuberculosis and hepatitis B.
ProTibet Club
Anyone can join the ProTibet Club who would like to donate
at least 5 EUR a month for the development projects.
How will the donated amount help? In Tibet it will support 50 %
of projects, India 25 % and 25 % in the CZ. In 2014 donors of
the ProTibet Club donated 3,804 EUR in total. 1,902 EUR were
donated to young children from the Gyalten school in Tibet,
951 EUR were handed over to India to support the nomads
after heavy snow fall and through the remaining 951 EUR
we could carry out interactive programs for children in our
country.
Join us now and become a member of the ProTibet Club!
“I deeply appreciate what MOST have done to improve the
lives of Tibetans in exile as well as in Tibet. Your work has
produced tangible results in the form of reaching to and
enriching the lives of many people since its inception in 2006.

Trip to Tibetan nomads
PEOPLE
30 donors and Nela Boudová in the Himalayas
In our summer visit to the Himalayas we were joined by the
Czech actress Nela Boudová and her crew, and also the
senator Peter Bratský and our donors. The purpose of this
visit was to see how useful their aid is and whether their
donations were used well. Some of them also had the
opportunity to meet with their godsons that they support
through the project Sponsorship. During this journey we visited the Tibetan children in SOS villages, monks and nuns in
monasteries and travelled to the altitude of 5,000 meters
above sea level to see the nomads. Our group consisted of
doctors, teachers and students.
We also participated in a six-month teaching English programme in one of the monasteries by Tibetan borders.
In 2015 we are planning another visit for interested members
of our donors.
Blanka joined to our sponsorship project in 2010. She told
us what led her to support Tibetans and why she visited
India last summer with us.
“I went to Ladakh mainly to meet Tenzin, a girl I support
through the Sponsorship project. I wanted to see for myself
and experience the conditions in which Tibetan children live
and grow up. I had the opportunity to talk to the deputy
director of the school and was fascinated that their education
is very free and children have the opportunity to choose and
study what they like and what they feel most comfortable
about. It was a big inspiration and
a realization at the same time of
how a man, doing with little, can
be happy, because this is not
about material things, that can be
provided, pay for... but it's mostly
about spiritual development of
every one of us. Meeting with
Tenzin was full of emotions and
joy, and we are still in touch. Each
of us can help to the extent that
suits them, it’s not about
thousand of crowns, it’s about
the energy they put into helping.”
