Providing Hope and Safe Refuge for
Mothers with Children in Jesus’ Name
Please call Kathy Novak at 714-237-1444 or
email [email protected] to participate
in our Adopt-A-Family program.
Our deadline to drop off the unwrapped gifts for the AAF program is Friday,
Dec. 7th. This allows us enough time to organize, wrap and transport the gifts to the
shelter for Christmas morning.
November 2012
Adopting a family means providing a portion of the gifts they receive
Christmas morning. When you call or email, we will give you their AAF number (to protect their identity), age, sizes and gift suggestions from their
Wish List. The information will be available by the 1st of November.
Gail’s Story . . .
At Christmas The Sheepfold provides a joyous and Christ-filled holiday for the
women and children who are staying with us. We are able to do this with the help of
individuals and companies who generously donate gifts or by participating in our
Adopt A Family program.
The day we arrived, the song “You are My Hiding Place” was playing . . . I KNEW it was a “safe house”. My adult daughter
had been in and out of jail and rehab due to threats from her current boyfriend. I have guardianship of my five-year old
granddaughter, so she and I had no choice but to flee due to physical threats and abuse.
When I arrived at The Sheepfold, I was excited to find that we had mature Christian House
Managers who could guide us with ANY problems or questions at any time of the day or night.
Through the daily Bible Studies, I realized that my former marriage had been abusive and it was
affecting me on a daily basis, but most importantly, it was affecting my walk
with Christ.
I have since received a deep healing through love, care, prayer and
study of the Word. As this season of my life closes and we move on to a
new chapter, I will remember this time as sweet and spiritual. I have
learned to stop trying to handle my life in my own strength,
but daily I lay it down at the feet of Jesus. I am so thankful
for the tools that I’ve been given that will help
me through difficult times.
So many are unaware what domestic violence is, but it is a greater tragedy that
people are unaware of the damage it can cause. Many see the damage of physical abuse,
but the deeper abuse is the loss of self. I am joyful now because I have been
freed from all of that!
I will forever value this journey at The Sheepfold. I will never forget
the unbelievable hearts who give their time and donations. But most of
all, the daily prayers for us so that we can live with the joy and peace
only our Lord can give.

New entrance doors for Second Step Apartments
It's always a privilege to see what children can do for Jesus! Here at The Sheepfold we recently got to watch God work in the
Children's Ministry at Kindred Community Church. During VBS this year they decided to raise funds to supply new doors for
one of our second step facilities! They brought in all of their loose change throughout the
week and filled buckets. Through their generosity we were able to put new doors on each
unit where there was a need.
That's not the end of the story, you see the kids are too
small to actually install the doors, however we had a team
of men, headed by our Board Member, Bruce Bartolomeo,
step up and volunteer for the installation! They had heard
we were looking to replace the doors and offered to hang
them as soon as they were ready. It’s always an honor to
see the Lord at work. This is just one of our many stories
where people of all ages come together to help make a
difference for the women and the children here at The
Sheepfold. If you have any fun ideas on how you and your church or group can give, please
contact us! ([email protected])
