THE HISTORY OF ME
L
LOW.
Mellow Mushroom opened
in Atlanta in 1974 after th
ree college students
founded a business that re
flected their eccentric ph
ilosophies. They wanted
to savor work and bring joy
to others by doing it. The
first store was located
in an old building on Sprin
g Street near Georgia Tech
. To accommodate the
long lines and gaining po
pularity, several more re
staurants opened in the
Atlanta area. Franchising
began in the 80’s and the
first store outside Atlanta
was opened in Athens, Ge
orgia in 1991. Even today
as Mellows continue
sprouting up, our mission
remains the same: to serv
e a deliciously
unparalleled pizza and a
cold craft beer in an unfo
rgettable environment.

A HIGHER ORDER
OF PIZZA
“Our experience with the Me
llow Mushroom franchise ha
s
been a very rewarding experie
nce. The structure
and support is always there
but we also have plenty of
flexibility to make business de
cisions based on our local
market conditions. This, in ad
dition to the overwhelming
customer feedback and dema
nd we have seen for
Mellow Mushroom, is the rea
son why we are looking to
open a second store in the No
rthwest Arkansas area.”
- Kevin Kestner, Owner (Faye
tteville, AR)
HAVE YOUR PIZZA,
AND EAT IT, TOO.
“Financially speaking, Mellow Mushroom has been a huge plus
in my life. I am able to afford a better lifestyle for my family.
Personally, lifestyle is equally as important as financial rewards.
I am my own boss. I don’t worry about how many hours I have
worked this week, or about how many vacation days I have saved
up. I have three children under the age of nine. If one of them has a
school or sports activity at 3PM on a weekday afternoon,
I arrange my day accordingly and I can go to their activity.”

DO You Have the
Right Stuff?
Owning a Mellow Mushro
om is a
and dedication and isn’t alw unique experience. It takes a lot of hard work
ays glamorous. It may no
t be for everyone, but
it’s perfect for some peop
le. People who aren’t afra
id
to roll up their sleeves
and get their hands dirty
, and tend toward the ecce
ntric. Not the Howard
Hughes kind of eccentric
, the lateral thinking kind
. People who believe that
the shortest distance betw
een two points isn’t alway
s a straight line, but if
it is, the straight line shou
ld at least be colorful. Th
at
being said, you have
plenty of time to decide if
owning a Mellow Mushro
om is right for you.
This courtship is just the
beginning, and unlike onlin
e dating, will be done
face to face, openly and ho
nestly. So let’s get to know
each other a little
better and take it from th
ere.
