Holtville American Legion Building Gets Renovation

The Holtville American
Legion celebrated the completion
of the renovation of the American
Legion building in Holtville.
Holtville's American Legion
Hall has been around for over 80
years. The large white building
on the corner of Sixth Street and
Cedar is believed to have been
built by the Works Progress
Administration in the 1930s. It
was expanded a couple of times.
But with the age of the building,
deterioration has started in areas
such as leaking roof, falling ceiling and cracking walls..
After a discussion took place
between former Holtville City
Manager, Alex Meyerhoff,
American Legion Commander,
Andrew Lowenthal, and County
Supervisor, Ray Castillo, about
the condition of the building and
what could be done to repair it.
Since the building is owned by
the County of Imperial,
Supervisor Castillo went to the
County Supervisors and they
approved the repairs to the build-
ing.
The
County
invested
$175,000 into the renovation
which included a new roof, windows, flooring, walls, heating
and air conditioning, wiring, and
new kitchen is planned with the
help of Home Depot.
Along with holding American
Legion meetings, the hall is also
used for BINGO and will now
also house a County Supervisors
office here in Holtville.
A LOUNGE IS set up for American Legion members to fellowship and share stories of their experiences.

County Goes To The Polls Nov. 4th In
Councils, Supervisors Races
Kids Enjoy Annual
Pumpkin Run

With less than four days
before the upcoming November
4th election, Imperial County has
a number of important issues and
positions to decide.
In the city of Calexico, nine
candidates are competing for two
seats. Incumbents Bill Hodge
and Martiza Hurtado are competiting against Guillermo
Hermosillo, Aurelio Serrano,
Armando Real, Morris Reisin,
Salvador Cuevas, Alma Castro
and Esther Marquez.
The city of Imperial has
seven candidates running for
three seats: Incumbents Geoff
Dale, Betty Sampson and Rick
Breland are running against Chris
Caldwell, James Tucker, Manuel
Ramos and Gregory Siota.
Imperial is also voting on a
new measure, Measure I, that will
increase the city’s Transient
Occupancy Tax from 8% to 10%.
A Transient Occupancy Tax is
what the city charges visitors
who use local hotels to stay within city limits.
The Imperial Irrigation
District will also have their own
ballot measure, “Measure H.”
Measure H will determine
whether or not the entire Imperial
County will vote for each IID
representative or if the vote will
be divided by divisions, which is
what the County Board of
Supervisors uses.
Imperial County will have
two elections for their Board of
Supervisors.
District 1, which represents
much of Calexico, will see
incumbent John Renison face off
against Daniel Romero for the
seat.
District Five, with representation throughout much of the eastern portion of Imperial County,
will have a repeat race as incumbent Ray Castillo will fight former
supervisor
Wally
Leimgruber.
The long fought race for
County Assessor will finally
come to an end after more than a
year’s worth of campaigning
when voters choose between
Carlos Zaragoza and Robert
Menville.
On a state level, for
California State Senate, Ben
Hueso (D) is running against
Rafael Estrada (R) while Eduardo
Garcia (D) faces off against
Charles Bennett, Jr.
On
a
national
level,
Congressman Juan Vargas will
defend his seat against Stephen
Meade.
Election day is November 4.

In what has become tradition
at Finley Elementary School, the
students participated in the annual Pumpkin Run last Friday afternoon. The Pumpkin Run is a fun
event which kicks off the Red
Ribbon Week, class parties, and
Halloween Carnival.
The
Pumpkin Run is organized by the
Finley PTO. The Holtville Fire
Department generously donates
their time to judge the races and
sound the mark to begin each
race.
Each grade level competes
against each other, boys racing
boys and girls racing girls. The
top three finisher’s in each race
receive a pumpkin as a prize.
These pumpkins are highly
sought after and some of the races
are pretty competitive. It is a
great afternoon of racing, cheering, and having a blast on the
Finley campus.

Imperial Regional Detention Facility Dedication Held
THE RIBBON HAS just been cut and the facility is already almost
full with inmates as Holtville has signed a contract with ICE for a
90% facility capacity for 5 years.

There was a dedication ceremony held at the new detention
facility that is located just north of
the East Port of Entry in Calexico
on Highway 98.
The ceremony was attended
by local officials representing the
Imperial County, the City of
Holtville, Brawley and the
Holtville Chamber of Commerce,
along with management teams
from MTC and ICE.
In a statement from MTC,
The Management & Training
Corporation (MTC) We are
pleased to announce that MTC
has entered into an agreement
with the city of Holtville, to operate the new Imperial Regional
Detention Facility effective
September 11, 2014. The facility
opened on September 22.
"We look forward to the
opportunity to work in the great
community of Imperial Valley,"
said MTC Senior Vice President
of Corrections Odie Washington.
"We have partnered with state and
federal governments in operating
correctional facilities for more
than 25 years, and have a strong
record of providing safe, secure,
and well-run facilities."
The
Imperial
Regional
Detention Facility will house U.S.
Immigration
&
Customs
Enforcement (ICE) detainees, and
has a capacity of 704 offenders.
The city of Holtville and ICE
entered into an intergovernmental
services agreement to house ICE
detainees at this facility for a period of five years. MTC will oper-
ate the facility under an agreement with the city of Holtville.
MTC anticipates hiring
approximately 225 staff members
to operate the facility. Those
interested in applying for employment

MTC is also pleased to
announce the selection of John
Rathman as the new warden of
the facility. Warden Rathman has
worked for the Federal Bureau of
Prisons for nearly three decades
most recently as the warden of the
Federal Correctional Institution in
Talladega, Alabama. Warden
Rathman brings a wealth of experience in corrections and will be a
tremendous leader.

The City of Brawley celebrated the possible future of
their business community with a
pair of ribbon cuttings on the
morning of Thursday, October
23.
The two businesses, Desert
RV Service
and
Togo’s
Sandwiches, represent both an
expansion of an existing business within the city’s borders as
well as the opening of a new
one. Both are important to the
growth of the city and its business base.
Desert RV Service, owned
by Joel Gonzalez, caters to
locals and travelers headed to
the Glamis Sand Dunes. In
addition to supplies and repair
work, Desert RV also provides
vehicle storage facilities for
duners not willing to constantly
drive their vehicles from Los
Angeles or beyond.
The new location for Desert
RV is 1552 E. Main Street.
In addition to the morning
ribbon cutting, Desert RV held a
concert in the evening hours featuring local bands Pure Magik
and Los Continentales.
Togo’s Sandwiches, a chain
sandwich shop located in the
western United States, opened
their doors later that morning.
Togo’s is owned by Dave
Takata, a former executive based
in the valley who also started a
shop in El Centro near the Valley
Plaza.
In
addition
to
their
“Chamber” opening, Togo’s
held a mixer, offering free samples of their sandwiches and salads
Togo’s in Brawley is located
at 1050 Brawley Avenue, near
the
city’s
Wal-Mart
SuperCenter.
The Brawley Chamber of
Commerce also held their
October Networking mmixer at
Valley Medical Pharmacy on
Main Street Thursday evening.
Calipatria High School is
hosting a six-week baseball camp
starting January 10.
Calipatria head coach Josh
Patton will direct the program in
conjunction with the
U.S.
Baseball Academy.
Classes are available for
players in grades 1-12 and are
limited to six players per coach.
Sessions are offered in
advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning.

SHERIFF’S REPORTS
TO MUCH RUCKUS:
It was reported that the caller’s
brother is acting up and making a
lot of noise and ruckus, when contacted, they were just getting
dressed for a family gathering, the
young men were counseled on the
use of the police number, the two
children complied.
LOOKING
FOR
SOMETHING:
It was reported that two males and
one female are looking into the
neighbor’s yard, eyeing it up and
down as if looking for something,
the suspicious trio left in their
vehicle and sped off.
GO HOME:
It was reported that the caller’s exboyfriend is at her home and she
does not want him there, she then
explained that she was at the
neighbors, and is afraid of being
hit, the situation was handled.
TRASH DIGGING:
It was reported, that there is a male
and female pair walking thru the
alley, the caller thought they were
acting suspicious and looking for
identity theft information, when
contacted it turned out that they
were just trash digging.
NO ONE HURT:
It was reported that a fight has broken out and everyone was dispersing, it did not appear that the subjects were not badly injured, the
subjects at the residence appeared
to be uncooperative.
TO YOUNG TO DATE:
It was reported that there appears
to be an argument between a mother and her daugHter, the two started to get attention from the neighbors, they were both counseled,
when asked why they argued, it
turned out to be due to the daughter’s dating status.
PERSONAL MATTERS:
It was reported that the caller and
his wife had just gotten into a fight,
the wife has been drinking after
being contacted, she stated that she
would leave to sleep at a friends
home.
HIGH SPEED DRIVING:
It was reported that a truck is driving thru stop signs at a high rate of
speed along with being reckless on
the road, the truck was not found
in the area.
TRESPASSING:
It was reported that the caller
would like for her son to be
warned of trespassing, she no
longer wants him home, the subject was advised to not return or he
would be arrested for trespassing.
PLEASE LEAVE:
It was reported that a subject is at
her home, he is being very abusive
to her and refuses to leave when
asked, an officer made contact
with the subject and sent him on
his way.
MALE FIGHTING:
It was reported that two hispanic
males are fighting over an
unknown issue, the two men were
separated and both did not want to
comply with the officers, they
were released.r.

SLOW DRIVING:
It was reported that a slow moving
vehicle was seen weaving in and
out between lanes, the vehicle
was an apparent traffic hazard, the
caller stated that the vehicle’s driver seemed to be under the influence..
TO MUCH TO DRINKING:
It was reported that the caller’s
husband has been drinking and is
in the residence, when contacted
both the caller and the husband
were drunk and did have an argument.
CALM DOWN?:
It was reported that the caller’s
son was throwing things around
the residence, the young man
who was out of control for an
unknown reason was counseled
and calmed down.
LOST DOG:
It was reported that the caller has
caged in a stray dog in his own
back yard, the caller stated that
the dog did not have a collar, nor
did it seem that he was around
form the area, animal control was
advised.
VEHICLE BURGLARIZED:
It was reported that a parked
vehicle was burglarized in the
alley, the caller stated that he saw
the subjects then leave in a Ford
Bronco down towards the street,
the owner of the vehicle was contacted.
PERSONAL MATTERS:
It was reported that a male and
female couple were having an
intense argument on their front
porch, when an officer arrived,
the male half had already left in
an undescribed vehicle.
ACTING SUSPICIOUS:
It was reported, that two subjects
were seen hiding in some bushes
around the area, the subjects were
obviously acting suspicious but

agents assigned to the Indio
Station arrested three suspected
drug smugglers in two separate
incidents seizing 6.25 pounds of
methamphetamine and less than a
pound of cocaine.
Wednesday, at approximately
3:45 p.m., when Border Patrol
agents encountered a taxi and his
male passenger at the Highway
86 checkpoint. During an interview, the male passenger, a17year-old U.S. citizen juvenile,
was discovered to have packages
of methamphetamine taped to his
upper legs.
The methamphetamine had a
weight of 2.03 pounds with an
estimated street value of more
than $20,300.
The second incident occurred on
Thursday, at approximately
11a.m., when Border Patrol
agents encountered bus at the
Highway 86 checkpoint and
referred it to the secondary
inspection area for an immigration check. Agents encountered
two male U.S. citizens riding the
bus, ages 41 and 21, who were

HOUSE CLEANING:
It was reported that the caller’s
stepfather is having an argument
with his family and is now throwing things around and outside,
when contacted it was found that
he was just cleaning by moving
things around.
FAMILY MATTERS:
It was reported that a brother and
sister were having a loud argument in the area, the caller
believes that it has to do over a
stolen item and they are now
blaming each other, both siblings
were contacted and counseled.
I NEED MY SLEEP:
It was reported that a home down
the street is playing music very
loud, the caller cannot get any
sleep, the caller did ask them to
turn it down but nothing came
from it, an officer arrived and
asked that the music be turned
down.
FRIENDS?:
It was reported that two male
subjects had gotten into a physical fight, both subjects were separated by their friends, the subjects had left the area before an
officer could arrive.
WHO ARE YOU?:
It was reported that a subject was
in the area knocking on the
caller’s window loudly, the caller
did not recognize the male subject, the subject was gone on
arrival.
NO MORE ARGUING:
It was reported that a married
couple are heard having a large
argument down the street, the
caller is concerned that the argument may escalate, both were
contacted and counseled.
SISTERLY LOVE:
It was reported that two females
are in the middle of a street fight
the two subjects were contacted
they happened to be sisters, they
were separated though both subjects were uncooperative.
MONEY PROBLEMS:
It was reported that the caller’s
husband and son are having an
argument, the caller stated that
they are fighting over money
issues, no threats were made nor
was their any physical violence.

THE YUMA TERRITORIAL Corvette Club cruised to Holtville
as part of their weekly outings. The club meets every Saturday at
Yuma’s Coffee Bean Shop and travels to a predetermined destination. Last Friday’s outing was to the Carrot Capital for lunch. In
total nine classic Corvettes traveled the 50 miles to our fair city.

Who You Gonna Choose?
WELL, HERE WE GO
AGAIN with another election
forecast. We’ve used our very
unscientific method of picking
some winners in some of the
election contests. It’s hard to pick
all of them because there are so
many elections where the people
are unknown or running for
offices that are strictly regional in
nature.
This is the general election from
last springs primary, where you
get all the candidates who want
name recognition. From here,
they have been sorted out for
you, supposedly.
There are two people up for reelection to the county supervisor’s board.
Renison vs. Romero. Incumbent
John Renison and challenger
Daniel Romero are seeking office
in District One, which takes in
most of Calexico.
Both men have been around
Calexico politics for a long time.
Danny Romero was last a city
council member who was voted
out, although his replacement
hasn’t done a lot to help the city.
He offers steady, conservative
leadership and got out among the
people during his term as mayor.
The incumbent is John R.
Renison, who is trying for a second term as supervisor after a
long career on the city council.
Calexico experienced unprecedented growth during that time.
On the County board he has had a
stabilizing influence during
tough economic times. The board
has been remarkably short of
controversy for quite awhile.
We’d like to see it stay that way.
We also want Calexico to have a
strong voice at this level and it
does with Renison.
There hasn’t been anything in
his background that would indicate that he will provide anything
but good leadership. As for
Romero, we hope he tries again.
Calexico needs somebody like
him in a position of authority.
Leimgruber vs. Castillo. Here we
go with round three of this continuing saga. Wally won the first
election, then lost in the second.
Is this a rubber match?
Whatever the case, it does put an
old guard conservative against a
progressive conservative.
Castillo’s term on the board has
been quiet and unremarkable. He
has a home in Holtville and is
seen at some of the social events
there. He just recently opened an
office there. But he still regards
El Centro as the home of his
biggest supporters and the ones
who turned the election his way
the last time. His district now
takes in part of Calexico as well.
Wally Leimgruber is a hardcore
conservative.
He’s carried on a one-man antigambling crusade for years. He
also threw opposition in the path
of the Imperial Valley Mall and
kept an annual off-road race out
of Holtville, even if it did bring
lots of people there.
This will probably be a close
race once again, but Castillo has
the edge. Look for him to win.
County Assessor, Menvielle vs.
Zaragoza. The county assessor is
a job that most folks probably
don’t think about except once
every four years when it shows
up on the ballot.
Longtime assessor Roy Buckner
is retiring which brings this position to the forefront.
Both Robert Menvielle and
Carlos Zaragoza have listed
backgrounds in property taxes.
Menvielle has been with the
Assesor’s Office for 22 years. We
would have to go with Menvielle
in that his family has been
involved in local politics for quite
some time and he would give the
position a little more public
appeal. This one is too close to
call.
Calexico City Council. This
body is always full of controversy and this year is no exception.
The police chief got fired a week
ago. He was returned to his job
after being fired once before by
Bill Hodge, Joong Kim and Luis
Castro.
He’s since been branded with
several mysterious doings that
makes one wonder why anyone
would keep him on the job. Those
include a lot of misappropriation
of funds and personal spending
that was unauthorized.
Hodge and Maritza Hurtado are
up for re-election. We say vote
them both out since the council
has been as ineffective as any we
have seen.
There are other choices:
Guillermo Hermosillo, Morris
Reisin,
Aurelio
Serrano,
Armando Real, Salvador Cuevas,
Alma Castro and Esther
Marquez. Alma Castro is Luis
Castro’s sister.
We would recommend voting
for the businessmen on the ballot
since they would bring some
common sense to a currently
senseless body.

KINDERGARTNER LIZBETH Predmore has watched her brothers race in the pumpkin run for a few
years and was determined to win when she got a chance, and she did, taking 1st place for the kinder girls.

giving out free coupons for one free eye exam and a pair of eyeglasses.
KJ PARK FROM Rite Aid in El Centro was giving out the flu
shots to the public.

Huge Turn Out for Finley’s Halloween Carnival
FINELY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL hosted the annual Halloween Carnival on Thursday night on the school campus. This event is organized by the Finley PTO, and
worked by PTO members, Finley teachers and staff, parents, and community volunteers. A huge crowd was in attendance to take part in the variety of game booths and
activities. In addition to the games, there was a fun Hay bale maze, face painting, a jumper, a hay ride, and a dance area...complete with a live DJ. In the basement below
the auditorium, the brave at heart could visit the Haunted House.

Calexico Celebrates At
First Imperial Credit Union
Brawley Honors City Veterans With
Special Banners Along Main Street

The City of Brawley began a
new era of honoring the city’s
military veterans over previous
weekend with new banners along
Brawley’s Main Street.
The new banners, which
range from Brawley’s downtown
area to Palm Avenue down Main
street, were the brainchild of a
former BUHS senior as part of
her voluntary senior project.
More than 40 banners were
installed over the weekend with
the help of the Brawley Fire
Department. The installation
also replaced or repaired some of
the old equipment on the previous banners.

for by the soldiers, their families

and through donations, will be
rotated with new ones on a regular basis.
The project currently consists
of 34 banners installed on 17
light poles that line the center of
Main Street, starting in the downtown area of the city heading
east.
Each banner has a starting fee
of $50, with much of the costs
being offset by the Brawley
Veterans Memorial Committee.
The initial project was the
inspiration of Sarah Steimel, one
of the Brawley Union High
School’s Class of 2014. Steimel,
a co-Valedictorian, presented her
idea to the city council last
November when she noticed
some of the old flags were in
poor repair. Steimel’s inspiration
also came from similar tributes in
other California cities.
At the time, the city council
was impressed with Steimel’s
presentation.
"Sarah professionally presented her project concept to the
City. We were stunned by the
poise and professionalism she
brought to the table, having
researched model programs,
evaluated various vendors, banner materials and associated
costs," commented Brawley
Mayor Don C. Campbell at the
time.
The council approved a plan,
based on Steimel’s initial presentation, in May of this year with
installation of the new banners
taking last weekend.

be part of the next wave of banners can contact the city’s Parks
& Recreation department for
applications.

ORDINANCE NO. 1157
The City Attorney has prepared the following summary of
Ordinance Number 1157.
The Ordinance makes structural changes to Title 13 ("Public
Services") of the Calexico Municipal Code by repealing existing
Chapters 13.04 through 13.30 and replacing them with Title 13,
Chapter 1 (renamed "Water Services"), Sections 13.01.010 through
13.01.720. The Ordinance substantively establishes rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for the City's provision of potable
water to the residents of Calexico, and also establishes the City's
duties, obligations, and responsibilities to its water customers. The
purpose of these changes is to incorporate new water quality regulations, eliminate or control existing cross-connections, and promote
more efficient water service delivery to residential, commercial, and
industrial customers.
A copy of the Ordinance is available for review in the City Clerk's
Office at City Hall located at 608 Heber Avenue, Calexico, California.
This ordinance was introduced at the regularly scheduled City
Council meeting of October 7, 2014. It was adopted at the regular

Bulldogs Continue Losing
Ways Against Central Spartans

The Calexico bulldogs hit a
road block once again when they
face Central and were unable to
score a single touchdown resulting in the score of 0-38 this past
Friday, October 24, 2014.
Now, there are many reasons
as to why the Bulldogs failed to
score, twice in a row, but Aaron
Calderon, Defensive End for the
Bulldogs has a
separate theory. Calderon
sated, "it's the
coaching, it's
all off. We try
to do our best,
but what can
you do when
one of your
coaches walks
out on the
team, literally!
Coach Rosas,
has stepped aside from us and has
gone to the bleachers for around
30 minutes and then finally came
back." Calderon, bothered
expressed, "the coaches are the
reason we aren't doing very well,
even on easy plays, they're walking out on us."
Now, it has been noted that
the coaches of the Bulldogs have
had the tendency of not taking
the matches as serious as the
players have. On some occasions
the coaches have cracked jokes
with the referees when they get
penalized for poor tackles or having an extra man on the field.
Central however, took no
prisoners. They took advantage
of their opportunity to score on
mistakes, and executed them to
perfection. It was clearly evident
who came more prepared to the
field.
It says a
lot about a
team, referring to the
Calexico
Bulldogs,
when
they
struggle for
consecutive
games to score
a single touchdown, even a
two point conversion or a field goal. A noscore game, says a lot. There's
obviously issues that they all
need to work on as a team, starting with coaches, because in the
end, they call the plays.
The only thing scarier than
Halloween is a third non-scoring
game, Calexico is up against
Imperial High School next
Friday October 31, 2014 at
Calexico.
CBP Officers Stop Attempt to Smuggle 600
Pounds of Marijuana In Alfalfa Shipment
U.S. Customs and Border
Protection officers at the
Calexico East commercial facility Wednesday halted an
attempt to smuggle 600 pounds
of marijuana within a shipment
of alfalfa.
The incident occurred
shortly after 3 p.m. on October
22, when CBP officers encountered a Peterbilt tractor-trailer
that entered the cargo facility
carrying a manifested shipment
of alfalfa. Officers referred the
commercial truck to the port’s
inspectional dock for a more indepth examination.
During a dockside inspection of the conveyance, and following an alert from a CBP
human-narcotics detector dog,
officers discovered 50 wrapped
bundles concealed within the
bales of alfalfa loaded on the
trailer.
The bundles field-tested
positive as marijuana, valued at
approximately $270,000.
The driver, a 40-year-old
male Mexican citizen and resident of Mexicali, Baja
California, was turned over to
the custody of Homeland
Security Investigation agents
for further processing.
CBP seized the marijuana,
the truck and trailer.
IID Schedules Public Legal Program On
Issues Facing District, Ratepayers
In a first of what is intended
to be a series of public panels
being presented by the Imperial
Irrigation District’s legal team,
the district has scheduled a panel
discussion entitled “A Primer:
The State Water Resources
Control Board and Imperial
County Agriculture.”
The event, open to the public,
will be held from 1:30-4:30 p.m.,
Thursday, Oct. 30 in the Condit
Auditorium, El Centro. The panel
moderator will be Joshua
Patashnik (Munger, Tolles &
Olson, LLP). Panel participants
include David R.E. Aladjem
(Downey Brand, LLP), Charles
T. DuMars (Law & Resource
Planning Associates, P.C.) and
Kristin L. Myles (Munger, Tolles
& Olson, LLP).
This public program is the
final event of an attorney-client
orientation being held at the district this week.
“The Imperial and Coachella
valleys are remarkable regions—
their histories are rich, their legal
issues are novel and their citizens
are engaged,” said Ross
Simmons, IID general counsel
who is coordinating the orientation and panel discussion. “Our
2014 attorney-client orientation
is intended to broaden the experi-
ence of our legal representatives
and improve the legal services
provided to the district.”
Events at the orientation
include a tour of Imperial Valley,
discussions covering IID departmental issues and educational
panels for attorneys on relevant
legal topics.
Participating lawyers are not
being compensated by the district
for their attendance. “The attorney-client orientation is considered an investment in IID, the
communities it represents and its
ratepayers,” said Simmons.

The
Calexico
Talent
Extravaganza 3 show was a great
success this Saturday, October
25, 2014. The purpose of this
event was to raise funds for the
Kids n' Badges program of
Calexico to take underprivileged
kids holiday shopping at Walmart
with a one hundred dollar voucher.
Officer Victor Legaspi stated,
"the response we got today from
the community was amazing,
they all loved it." Legaspi adds,
"we still have to check through
the money we have raised, but we
have high hopes to be able to take
some kids out shopping this holiday season."
Around sixteen acts were pre-
sented at the show, ranging from
dancing, to opera, to rock, to juggling. The variety made it a show
that everyone could enjoy, but it
also made it difficult for the
judges Natalia Lozano, John Leo,
La Cachimba and Karla Serna to
make a definitive decision. John
Leo expressed, "At first I thought
the first singer was really good, I
though that act was going to win,
but then the next one was also
good, they were all good, so it
made it difficult to select one out
of the whole."
In the end the winners were a
tap-dancing group of sisters
dressed in red and black called
the "Rendon Rhythms." The
Rendon Rhythms, expressed that
they were "very surprised" and
that they did not expect the win at
all. Judge Eder Cachimba, from
La Cachimba expressed why he
voted them as winners of the
Calexico Talent Extravaganza 3.
Cachimba stated, "I completely
loved their attitude, they gave it
their all and they were smiling
throughout their entire performance, and that for me deserves a
winning place."
The Talent Extravaganza 3
was a great success due to the
collaboration from community
members, and the acts. As Mayor
Moreno said, "we couldn't have
done it without the support from
our community, the sponsors or
the acts." It was an excellent
show from start to finish, all for a
great cause.
