The Surrey Children Matter Coaltion consists of three
community agencies:DIVERSEcity Community Resources
Society, Kia How Eya Aboriginal Centre of SACS and Options
Surrey Community Services Society. These three agencies
administer seven CAPC projects in Surrey area (Whalley,
Guildford, Newton and Delta). The seven projects provide
community-driven services and support groups, for families
with young children (0 - 6), pregnant women and new parents,
in particular those living in conditions of risk. Program sites
are in several locations in Surrey: Activities include parentchild drop in, pre/post natal support and education, positive
parenting skills, parent child mother goose, opportunities for
support from various health, cultural and parenting experts,
and food security. Some programs are open to all parents and
children, while others are specifically culturally oriented to
newcomers to Canada or Aboriginal families.

Project:
Capital Children
Host Agency:
Salt Spring Island Community Services
The Capital Children Coalition has 12 member agencies that
together offer 24 CAPC funded programs throughout the
Capital Regional District, from Sooke through Victoria to Salt
Spring Island. CAPC programs offered include parent and
child drop-in groups, parent support and discussion groups,
Mother Goose groups and one-to-one outreach or individual
support. Most of the agencies are oriented towards serving
participants in their neighbourhood or geographic area, while
two members serve Aboriginal families solely and one agency
serves young parents in the region.
