Product description
The LG 1400, VENTECH system, comfort
ventilation unit with passive house
certificate consists of a compact,
thermal bridge-free and 50 mm heatinsulated housing made of galvanised
steel sheeting, external powder coating
in RAL 9010, a highly efficient heat
recovery system with air/air counter-
flow heat exchanger, an automatic
100% bypass with energy-saving radial
fans in the latest EC motor technology
with optional CO2 sensor module for
demand-based comfort ventilation
operation, air filter of quality class F7 in
the outdoor air and G4 in the extract air,
internally wired control electronics.
Optional enhancements such as constant
volume flow regulation, constant
pressure regulation or our enhanced,
efficiency-optimised Pichler System
Optimizer regulation complement the
extensive basic functions. Compact
ventilation unit suitable for free-standing
installation in frost-free rooms.
and similar applications and for the
controlled mechanical aeration and
ventilation of larger apartment buildings.
The range of use extends fundamentally
to residential buildings in passive or lowenergy construction, with an adjustable
air volume flow up to approx. 1500 m³/h.
Area of application
The VENTECH system LG 1400 and LG
1400 S comfort ventilation unit is used
as a central unit for up to 17 apartments,
schools, doctor's surgeries, offices

Operation
BYPASS FOR HEAT EXCHANGER
The 100% bypass is controlled as a function of the preset room temperature, the
measured extract air temperature and
the outdoor air temperature. As a result
the heat exchanger can be circumvented
in the summer and the cool outdoor air
blown out at night either directly or via
the earth collector into the living space.
CONTROL UNIT
The ventilation units come equipped as
standard with an integrated control and
regulation system. The settings on the
ventilation unit are carried out using an
integrated web server, limited settings
can also be carried out via the PICHLER
handheld terminal or the colour touch
display PI-HMI. In addition, the current
operating status conditions and system
values such as operating type, fan speed,
temperatures, etc. are displayed on the
PICHLER handheld terminal or on the
control system. Signal lamps display the
operation (green) and faults (flashing red)
including as plain text displays. Auto
matic or manual mode can be selected.
OPTIONAL: BUILDING AUTOMATION –
NETWORKING OPTIONS
The Pichler-Air2-System offers multiple
networking options as integration into a
higher level building automation system.
• Integratred webserver
• Modbus RTU
• Modbus TCP/IP
• BACnet
• LON
The corresponding bus connection is
activated/parameterized at the factory
according to the customer's order.
FUNCTIONS OF THE PICHLER CONTROL
•P
reheater battery, electric or PWW
•A

•C

• Preheater battery, electric and/or PWW
• Air ventilation and humidification

•P
ICHLER control "demand-based fan
regulation": For each area, 25 zones
(50 volume flow regulators) can be
integrated via a zone optimiser system
developed in-house and divided into
sections. If required, this system can be
expanded to a maximum of 5 sections
of up to 25 zones each, in other words
a total of 125 zones (250 volume flow
regulators). The current operating
parameters of the volume flow
regulators (e.g. flat position, current
volume flows, etc.) are forwarded via a
Modbus system to the central optimiser.
This is used to calculate the optimal
fan speed to in turn keep all flaps in the
optimal point of operation. Advantages
over constant pressure regulation:
Considerably lower energy consumption
by the fans, less flow noise thanks to
regulated preliminary pressure in the
duct system, and optimised regulation
thanks to central control of all volume
flow regulators.
The "daisy chain" principle is applied to
the bus cabling, minimising installation
costs.
• Filter monitoring by pressure sensors
• 3-way motor control valve
• Recirculation pump 230 V
•E

(sensor for external batteries)
• Outdoor air filter F9 for ventilation unit
Optional accessories for needs-based operation
Intelligent air quality sensors with a surface-mounted housing are available as
optional accessories. The sensors help
to control a needs based ventilation in
living and working spaces.
• Humidity sensor module (measuring
range from 0 to 100 % relative humidity)
• CO2 and humidity sensor module
(measuring range from 0 to 2000 ppm
and from 0 to 100 % relative humidity)
THE AIR VOLUME FLOW CAN BE
CONTROLLED VIA THE FOLLOWING
SENSORS
Needs-based operation via the CO2
and/or the humidity sensor module only
functions in automatic mode. Additional
functions regarding air quality and humidity control are set with the integrated webserver. The assignment of the
fan speeds and the ppm values can be
changed via the PC software.
• CO2 sensor module (measuring
range from 0 to 2000 ppm)
Electrical connection of the sensors:
24 Vdc
Temperature range of the sensors:
- 20 to + 60 °C
Humidity range of the sensors:
5 to 95 % relatvie humidity
(not condensating)

The ventilation unit complies with Eco-design Directive (EU Regulation 1253/2014) as required for 2018.
Visual filter warning
The ventilation unit has a visual warning to replace the filter. An error message will be displayed on the control panel
when the set pressure difference is exceeded.
WARNING: The plant will not work efficiently unless the filter is replaced regularly, causing power consumption to
increase.
Disposal
Equipment that is no longer functional must be uninstalled by a specialist firm and properly disposed of at a suitable
facility. The Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (EAG-VO), implementing Community law Directives 202/95/EC
(RoHS) and 2002/96/EC (WEEE Directive) applies.
