Caping / Deboning a Deer
Trophy Care by Trinity Mountain Arts
Taxidermy
Avoid activities that compromise the
quality of your trophy:
¾Never cut the throat to bleed the carcass!
¾Don’t drag your trophy – avoid hair loss!
¾Keep the animal cool – work in the shade!
¾Clean blood off the fur!
¾Transport on ice!
¾Deliver to the taxidermist ASAP, or Freeze it!
Leave plenty of cape for
the taxidermist to work
with. Cut the cape from
behind the front legs .
After you make
the circular cut
around the body
and behind the
front legs,
Cut down the back of
the legs. Center your
cut and don’t cut into
the arm pit.
