Sunday School’s “Principal’s Corner”
Assalamalaikum!
Alhumdullilah, we had a wonderful first day at Sunday school! The students started the day
with an all-school student orientation, where they learned about the importance of coming to
Sunday school, rules, and fun events planned for the year. For those students who were fasting,
they got recess, and those that brought a lunch got to enjoy eating in the community center!
After that, it was time for classes! The first day is always a bit hectic...trying to get the students
to all of their new levels, but they all did such a great job in cooperating and being patient with
us! The teachers' also worked hard behind the scenes getting ready for the big day! We had our
annual teacher's orientation, which went very well, alhumdullilah!
All students were tested today, some in Quran reading, some in Surah recitation, and some
taking written basic assessment exams. Please take a few minutes to ask your students about
their day and introduce yourselves to their teachers. All students should have received 3
folders, with welcome letters from each teacher, stating their goals and curriculum for the class
and their contact information. Please note the phone numbers for your child's teachers. If your
child is absent, for any reason, this year they must call the teacher to inform them ahead of time.
The teacher must be notified for it to be an "excused" absense. If they do not call, your child
will receive an "unexcused" absense. After three "unexcused" absenses, your child will have to
re-register with the office.
We are looking for a PTO (parent-teacher organization) co-chair. We would like to find a
partner to help Sister Nausheen Hasan in organizing the events for the school, such as Eid
parties, snacks for the teacher meetings, the teacher appreciation lunch, and the end of the year
carnival. If you can give some time to help out, please contact the school administration.
If you can give some time, we are also looking for some volunteers for substitute teaching.
Even if you sign up, you will still have the option to say no, if you are not able to substitute on
this day. Please consider this small opportunity to get some ajjar and contact the school
administration if interested.

This year, we will be having "recess monitors" during lunch
recess to help supervise the kids in the community center
and outside. Each month, 2 teachers have been assigned to
this job. If your child has any issues during recess, please
contact the recess monitors. The month of August will be
Sister Shamma Khan (CC) and Sister Farhat Nagamiyan
(outside).
The sisters' tafsir/tajweed class will begin after Ramadan,
inshallah, from 1:30pm (tafsir) till 2:00pm. Tajweed class
will be from 2:00-2:15pm.
We are so excited to see everyone back to school!
Inshallah, we look forward to having a wonderful year!
Wassalamalaikum,
Sister Ausia
IFP Community Center Project
Alhamdulillah, with the blessing of ALLAH Subhanahutala, the IFP Community Center Project is complete.
This has been made possible by Allah’s Grace and generous support of our Muslim community. The
Community Center was used for the weekend Iftars / Dinners, during Ramadan. As it has been announced,
there are a few pending projects, including conversion of old dinning hall to sisters’ prayer area, security system
installation, gym flooring & fitness room. Alhamdulillah, pledges have been made for sisters’ prayer Area and
the security system installation. Additional pledges are needed for Gym Flooring and Fitness room. May Allah
reward everyone for their effort and participation.
If you would like to make a donation or give a pledge, please contact Br. Zameer Khan (Project Chairman) or
Br. Faisal Hasan (IFP Treasurer).

Boy and the Apple Tree – Love your Parents
Source: islamicinformation.net
A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it
everyday. He climbed to the treetop, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow...he loved the
tree and the tree loved to play with him. Time went by...the little boy had grown up and he no
longer played around the tree every day.
One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad . "Come and play with me" the tree
asked the boy. "I am no longer a kid, I do not play around trees any more" the boy replied. "I
want toys. I need money to buy them." "Sorry, but I do not have money... but you can pick all my apples and
sell them. So, you will have money." The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left
happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was deeply saddened.
One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned and the tree was excited "Come and play with me" the
tree said. "I do not have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help
me ? " " Sorry, but I do not have any house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house." So the man
cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the man never came
back since then. The tree was again lonely and upset.
One hot summer day, the man returned and the tree was delighted. "Come
and play with me!" the tree said. "I am getting old. I want to go sailing to
relax myself. Can you give me a boat ?" said the man . "Use my trunk to
build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy." So the man cut the tree
trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time.
Finally, the man returned after many years. " Sorry, my boy. But I do not
have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you ..." the tree said. "No
problem, I do not have any teeth to bite" the man replied. "No more trunk for you to climb on" "I am too old for
that now" the man said. "I really cannot give you anything... the only thing left is my dying roots" the tree said
with tears. "I do not need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years" the man replied. "Good!
Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest, Come, come sit down with me and rest." The man sat down
and the tree was glad and smiled with tears...
This is a story for everyone. The tree is like our parents. When we were young, we loved to play with our Mum
and Dad...When we grow up, we leave them...only come to them when we need something or when we are in
trouble. No matter what, parents will always be there and give everything they could.
You may think the boy is cruel to the tree, but that is how all of us treat our parents. We take them for granted
we don't appreciate all they do for us, UNTIL it's too late. May Allah forgive us of our shortcomings and may
He Guide us, Insha'allah Ameen
