Welcome

• Judges conduct and code of ethics/behaviour
• Judges opinions and comments
Judging
• What does it mean to be a judge ?
Judging bodybuilding, figure, fitness , bikini and
physique championships should be taken seriously
and with pride. Nova Scotia judges are top ranked at
the National level, a reputation earned through hard
work and dedication ,and are well respected.
The dedication and hard work of the athletes
dictates and warrants a well trained and professional
panel of judges when they compete.

• Take into consideration all of these factors to
combine and determine the most aesthetically

Overview
Judging in some cases can be very subjective ,
an opinionated view often having varied
preferences and differences in personal taste
involving the same group of competitors.
The most important thing to remember is to
follow the judging criteria then follow your
opinion particularly when the criteria calls for
judgment on facial beauty or attractiveness or
preference is concerned.
Call Outs and Comparisons
• When classes have large numbers , callouts will
be done, generally the head judge and 2 senior
judges will pull out 5 of the top athletes, this
does not necessarily mean these are the top 5 it
is a guideline. This is done to assist in the judging
process.
• All judges will be asked for comparisons, please
send them forward as quickly as possible, if you
require them. This is your opportunity to pull out
an athlete that you feel should be seen with
other athletes.( in comparison to)
Scoring and Stats
• The high and low score for each class will be
crossed off, the total of the remaining judges
scores determines placing, low score high placing
• Judges with an athlete in a particular class will
submit scores however they will not be used
unless it is completely necessary
• Staticians review all scores, please ensure your
name and judges number are clearly marked on
each sheet
Stats continued
• The head judge oversees the Staticians and
completely checks all classes and scores from
each judge during the break between shows,
any discrepancies will be brought to the
judges attention before the night show
• The head judge will make every effort to have
the judges scoring done as quickly as possible.
Athletes Critique
• If at all possible , judges who are comfortable
with speaking to athletes will likely be asked
to do so. Ensure you take plenty of notes if
you intend to do this. We will make every
effort to inform athletes that critiquing will be
done after the show is over (not that night)
• We will be attempting to put together a
seminar of sorts for those interested in being
critiqued and judges wishing to participate
Social Media and Gossip
• Social media can be a great tool to reach athletes however
it can also start vicious rumors and provide a lot of false
information
• Constructive criticism should not be done over social media
if possible, it could be seen as bias
• Any conversations that slander judging, judges abilities and
suggestions of favoritism should also be avoided, this only
creates fuel for the fire
• Anyone with questions should be directed to or suggested
they contact the Head Judge or President
• Everyone is entitled to their opinion however if they are not
and have not judged how qualified is that opinion and
should be treated as just that ……...an opinion (unqualified)
