Lanfranco Castelvetrano olives are
grown exclusively in western Sicily along the Belice River Valley
near the town of Castelvetrano.
These young olives are harvested once per year in early
October through mid-November and the trees only begin
to bear fruit after their fifth year of growth. The Castelvetrano olives are not cured but processed similar to a
California style black-ripe olive, in a lightly salted brine
which accounts for their bright green hue and meaty texture. In some circles this olive have been known to be
called “the rich man’s black olive.”
