Author, Victim’s Advocate, Founder of S.O.A.P.
(Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution)
Ms. Flores received her master’s degree in counseling

bachelor’s in social work from Ball State University.
Ms. Flores was appointed to the Ohio Attorney
General’s Human Trafficking Commission in 2009
and has testified before the Ohio House and Senate

Ms. Flores received The Courage Award from Ohio
Governor Kasich for her work in human trafficking.
She also has received the 2013 Christian Service

S.O.A.P. (Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution).
.
Ms. Flores has been featured by the National
Underground Railroad Freedom Center Museum in
a traveling exhibit entitled Invisible Slavery and has
published three books, including “The Sacred Bath”
and “The Slave Across the Street”. The audio version
of her latest book was nominated for the 2011 Audie
Award, one of the top five of all memoirs and
biographies, and is on the Wall Street Journal and
USA Today Best Seller List for e-books. Her newest
book was just released by Random House UK.
She is an international speaker and regularly
presents to middle and high school students, at
universities and to groups of people wanting to
learn the red flags of trafficking in the U.S.
Ms. Flores was featured in a short documentary, The
Girl Next Door, which has won many awards at film
festivals all across the United States.
Her story has been seen on The Today Show, MSNBC’s
“Sex Slaves: The Teen Trade”, the 700 Club, CNN/HLN,
Glenn Beck’s For the Record, as well as many local
and national radio shows. Her national rescue
mission, S.O.A.P., has been featured on Dateline,
Nightline, and America’s Most Wanted.
Keynote
Human Trafficking Basics
Theresa Flores, a licensed social worker, kept a
deep, dark secret for over twenty years. A secret
that once told, would begin to wake up our society
and change archaic mind sets and unjust laws.
It wasn’t until she was studying to be a counselor
that she became empowered to find her voice after
all the years of victimization. Simultaneously,
she learned that there were thousands of other
“Theresa’s” out there, going through the same
hell she had once endured, being sold nightly to
strange men for sex.
During her keynote, Ms. Flores will discuss how
no one saw the signs of a child being trafficked
and her personal path of survival. It is a story that
will make you angry, laugh, cry, and give you
hope that we can help others from experiencing
this horror.
Morning Breakout
Mind Set of a Victim
Learn the red flags of a person being trafficked,
the emotional implications this has on victims,
and how to help them heal.
Afternoon Breakout
Physical and Emotional Implications
of Human Trafficking on a Victim
This session will give you a more in-depth
look at the effects of trafficking upon a person,
including a special, rarely seen video from the
eyes of a trafficker.
Closing Session
Personal Perspective from a Survivor
In her final session, Theresa Flores will offer
suggestions for potential outreach opportunities
for victims. She will share how to connect
resources to those who need them.
