About Courtlandt Avenue Clinic
The SCO Courtlandt Avenue Clinic
provides person-centered, outpatient
mental health treatment services to
children, youth, adults and families
located in the Mott Haven/Melrose
sections of the Bronx. Trained mental
health therapists provide individual,
family and couples therapies, using
trauma-informed and culturally sensitive
models.
The clinic provides crisis assessments,
crisis planning and interventions for
high–risk individuals and families.
Psychiatric assessments, medication
management and ongoing psychiatric
monitoring are key components to
service provision. The clinic currently
specializes in family work and has built
strong healing relationships.

Marriage & Family Therapy Program
Counselors in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program assist
couples and families in cultivating healthy relationships. We
offer a safe place to discuss family issues free of judgement
and/or blame. Couples and families can address and work
through issues that affect their ability to maintain healthy
relationships.
Marriage and Family Therapy is a brief, effective, solutionfocused therapy model that works with couples and families on
a wide range of clinical problems including, but not limited to:
depression, marital strife, communication, anxiety and parentchild relationship problems. Our program also helps families
learn to solve their problems by managing their relationship
effectively. Marriage and Family Therapy is short-term and
focused on solutions with specifics goals.

• Evidence-based couples group
• Support for families dealing with life stressors, transitions
• Relationship enhancement groups
• Pre-marriage counseling
• Specialized couples counseling for Latinos and African
Americans
• African American marriage enrichment program
• Hispanic healthy marriage program
Services provided by New York State Licensed Marriage and
Family Therapists.
Group Therapy
Groups are formed regularly to meet the needs of the clients.
Group formats include:
• Parenting skills
• Socialization skill training for children with social, emotional
and behavioral challenges
• Anger management for both adults and youth
• Bereavement
Treatment Models
Treatment models of care include:
• Trauma–Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
• Structural Therapy
• Dialectical Behavior Therapy
• Contingency Management
Mental health practitioners use various tools including
motivational interviewing techniques and relational therapy.
Appointments & Referrals
Referrals are generated from local schools, hospitals, mobile
crisis unit, community providers, New York City Administration
for Children’s Services, foster care agencies, other community
based organizations, managed care organizations and selfreferrals. The clinic accepts referrals by telephone and inperson walk-ins.

Monday thru Thursday - 9:00AM to 7:00PM
Friday – 9:00AM to 5:00PM
Saturday – 10:00AM- 3:00PM
