From the President
A lot of cool events planned the rest of the year so check the calendar and come
on out. October is fun packed with a Drive-In movie night, nice road trip up to
Carlos, TX, the club Halloween party and our annual fall vette show. Please support our club show on the 28th and show your car. As I said before; your don’t
need to have a “show” car, just a corvette will do and your registration monies is
much needed for our charities. We will be doing the Soldier Care Packages again
on site with some uniformed soldiers there helping out.
Kassy won Kid’s Choice
Award Sep 22nd in Huntsville
The Fall Foliage Weekend is Nov 9-11 so book your room; info here. The club
Christmas party is December 1st and this year all the food will be catered by the
club so you don’t need to bring that mashed potato casserole topped with graham
crackers. :) Just a gift for the exchange.
Nominations for board positions are continued at the Oct meeting and the voting is
at the November meeting so if you want to be on the board or nominate someone
you have to be at the club meeting to do so. Current nominations are listed here.

Corvette News
The Official 2012 Corvette Production Numbers Are Here!
Just like in the 2010 and 2011 model
years, the Grand Sport got the most
amount of buys for 2012. Between
the Grand Sport coupe (5,056 sold)
and the GS convertible (2,268 sold) ,
the model made up nearly 63 percent
of all Corvette sales. Coming in at a
far second, was the base model with
2,820 coupes and just 651 convertibles sold to make up 29.5 percent of
Corvette sales.
As far as the high-rolling Z06 and ZR1′s go, only 478
Z06 models were sold, making up 4.1 percent of total
sales, and only a measly 404 ZR1′s were sold, making up just 3.5 percent of sales. In total, 11,647 Corvettes were manufactured for the 2012 model year.
Not surprisingly, the most popular color among the 2012 models was Torch Red with
19.5 percent of Corvettes sold sporting the color. The vibrant shade was closely followed by the Carbon Flash Metallic paint of the special Centennial Edition cars. Nearly
19 percent of Corvettes sold featured the special edition package.
Other interesting tidbits we found browsing through the 2012 production numbers were
that 62.3 percent of Corvettes were sold with Ebony interiors while only 88 were sold
with yellow stitching accents and 105 sold with blue stitching accents.
Option packages appear to have been popular with 2,416 Corvettes sold with the 1LT
option package, 1,691 sold with the 2LT package, and 5,510, or 47.3 percent, sold with
the 3LT package.
For more of the 2012 model year numbers, check out the full report from CorvetteBlogger.com.

SAM HOUSTON INDIVIDUAL INCENTIVE POINTS AWARDS PROGRAM
A point system to stimulate attendance and participation from the entire club has been adopted by the board and goes into effect immediately
upon the start of the August 3, 2012 meeting and will run until June 30, 2013 just before our 20 th anniversary as a club in July. Listed below are
the categories and point values for each. At the end of the program all members’ in good standing will have their points tallied and the persons
with the top three most points will be awarded prizes.
The grand prize is a SHCC club jacket currently valued at $75.00. Second place is a SHCC voucher for club apparel valued at $50.00. Third prize
is a free entry into one of the SHCC car shows.
The board members and their spouses are not eligible for the prizes mentioned above but are compiling the same points to compete among
themselves to win a $25.00 gift certificate at a local restaurant. It is of the opinion that board members and/or their spouses may have an unfair advantage by attending most all events and this program is intended to help promote other club members to get involved more.
Point system values for attendance and participation are as follows:
Attend Monthly Meeting = 1 point
Attend SHCC Monthly Drive = 2 points
SHCC Event Participation = 3 points (i.e.; Xmas party, bowling, Halloween party etc.)
SHCC Car Show Participant = 4 points (i.e. worker)
SHCC Pre-Run Participant = 5 points (wild flower & fall foliage only)
SHCC Car Show Participant WITH Car Entry = 7
Head Up a SHCC Event or Drive = 10 points
Please note there may be from time to time BONUS Points awarded but it will be announced in advance so everyone will have
fair notice to attend. CHECK YOUR SHCC WEBSITE.

When:
Saturday, October 20th, 2012
Time: Meet @ 9:00 AM, Wheels Turning @ 9:30 AM
Meet at the Valero Station on the corner of Spring-Cypress and HufsmithKohrville (1 block east of 249) This is a brand new store so might not be on google.
This will be a nice drive through parts of the Sam Houston National Forest. Beginning in Northwest
Houston we’ll travel north toward Montgomery and into the National Forest. From there to Huntsville
over some familiar and new roads. From Huntsville we will head back west through the National forest
on some roads we’ve seldom traveled as a group. Lunch will be in Carlos, TX at the famous Yankee’s
Tavern and Grill. This is a roadside tavern and grill that has long catered to the Motorcycle guys as well
as car clubs. They can be found online at http://yankeestavern.com/ where the menu is posted as well as photos of the tavern and grounds.
We will meet at 9:00 AM, have a Drivers Meeting at 9:20 AM, with Wheels Turning about 9:30 AM.
As always, I have placed a “specific order” with the “Weather Gods” for a comfortable, sunny day with
no rain allowed so we can “Drop the Tops” and cruise the countryside. Bring your two-way radios and
be prepared for a GREAT DAY! Plenty of parking available either on asphalt or grass for the cars and
motorcycles.

STEP BY STEP AGENDA
FOR
PROSPECTIVE ROAD TRIPS
Have you had ideas for a road trip or social event that you think the club would be interested in? We
know everyone has been to a place or heard of some place and thought that it would be enjoyable for a
group of Corvetters. Well here’s how you can put it on paper to get your potential ideas turned into actual
events and placed on the calendar. Check it out and submit it to one of the board members or Jeb Jonas,
our Road Trip Committee Head at [email protected].
1. Starting place, time and date
2. Written itinerary (if applicable) with directions.
3. Map— roads marked.
4. Restaurant name and approximate prices. A menu would be helpful (or website). Talk to someone in
charge and confirm that they can accommodate 30 + people.
5. If overnighter, hotel accommodations need to be verified as well as room prices.
6. Package of info will be presented to Road Trip Committee to make sure everything is complete and in
order.
7. Total road trip package will be presented to the Officers at the next board meeting and they will approve or disapprove. Their decision is final.
8. If approved, the Road Trip Committee will help finalize details and generally oversee management of
the road trip.
9. 15 or more cars are required to constitute an official club road trip.
