February 2015
A few friendly reminders;
VERY IMPORTANT!!! In front of our Clubhouse and on the pool side lanai at the Rec Hall you will notice a
grey box with a red emergency telephone enclosed. These phones are ONLY meant for emergency use, no other
phone calls may be made! When the phone is lifted from the phone component it will automatically call 911.
For that very reason, refrain from using this phone unless it is an emergency.
It has been mandated that ALL bulk items (TV’s, sofas, beds, mattresses, appliances etc.) be placed in our
designated location next to our recyclable container at the Clubhouse parking lot. Please do not contact
Advance Disposal as they will not pick up any curb side items!! Please stop placing your regular daily trash
debris in this large bulk item drop off area! NO CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS!! Violators will be fined.
RV Section: It is that time again; renewal of your 2015/2016 seasonal six-month agreement. These reservations
are for the site you NOW occupy. If you are switching sites or are making any other changes besides what is
required on our rental agreement, this should take place prior to or after our reservation renewals. It is very
important that each current resident comes in on their assigned renewal date to reserve their site for the next
season. Renewals will begin with Streets 1 & 2 on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00
P.M. The 2015/2016 six-month rental rate will be $3,115.00 and a $1,000.00 site deposit is required upon
reservation renewal. The remainder of the balance ($2,115.00) is due in full on or before October 1, 2015. In
your mailbox you will find your renewal agreement. The colored page is the one you must fill out/sign and
bring to the office on your reservation date. The preceding white copy is for your records, which if filled out
completely we will be happy to sign for your records. Please note: Your $1,000 deposit minus a $250.00
administration/reservation fee will be refundable up until October 1, 2015. This refund will ONLY be
available to you if your unit is completely removed and your site returned to its original state. After October 1,
2015 all reservations will be final and you will be held liable for the reminder of the balance due. Just in case it
slipped past someone, Citrus Park also accepts credit cards!
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ivette Rolon in administration at 239-992-3030 ext. 140.
New Homeowners: If you are a new homeowner in Citrus Park and have not provided the Citrus Park
Administration the proper ownership or transfer documentation please do not expect the Gate Entry Access
System to work properly for you! Until all the information is provided and entered into our database, you do not
have the capability to utilize a bar code, call in Guest or any Vendors.
With the exception of our 2 week RV reservation period, new bar code decals are available for your purchase
($20.00) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
Pickleball Update: It is intended that the Pickleball Courts will be open and available for play time in the
month of February. Hooray! However, it is important to note from the perspective of Citrus Park, these courts
are for the use and enjoyment of everyone in Citrus Park. As most of you know, Citrus Park is home to many
different clubs and groups. The Pickleball Club will be expected to follow the same rules and procedures as all
the other activities in our community. No exceptions! It will be expected that the Pickleball Club coordinate
with the Citrus Park Activities department for scheduled court times and for the possibility to host outside team
tournaments. Entry into the Pickleball Club is COMPLETELY voluntary! The Pickleball Club will be
independently organized by the Citrus Park residents.
Hope everyone is enjoying their stay here in Citrus Park.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Citrus Park Storage Compound
Victoria Traficanti
Activities Director
The electronic keypad has been hit more than once
with lightning this summer causing the gate to remain
inoperable.
Because of this costly, continuing problem, we have
purchased a totally new system that will require a
REMOTE to open the gate for entry.
The cost of each remote will be $40.00. This will be
refunded whenever you no longer need storage usage.
All storage users must check with Bill Farmer or
Larry Thompson upon arriving to purchase their
REMOTE.
Much research has been done with other communities
and a remote system seems to be the most reliable.
The compound office will be open every Tuesday from
3 PM – 5PM. Work days will be during those hours.
Podiatry Services
Nancy Russell has recently joined Dr Pham and
Dr Swift (Podiatrists) owners of Florida Regional Foot
and Ankle Specialists as Director of Operations.
The Doctors will be opening their new office in
Bonita Springs.
Nancy has provided Wellness BP clinics to our
community for several years. Podiatry clinics will
continue at our park at leaset once a month so watch
for sign up sheets posting dates and times. During the
podiatry clinics Nancy will be happy to do your BP as
time permits.
For any questions please contact Nancy Russell at

MARDI GRAS 2015--GRAND MARSHALS- HANK & YVETTE BINNENDYK
Hank & Yvette Binnendyk
became Citrus Park resident
owners in 1994. Yvette became
active in water aerobic, morning
exercises, and Tai Chi. Today, she can
still be found in the pool performing
her exercises. Hank became very
involved in tennis-- in the park and
out of the park tennis tournaments.
He also taught tennis lessons to many
CP residents. Hank & Yvette
continue to live, participate, and be
active in Citrus Park. The Binnendyk’s
come from Southwestern Ontario--Egmondville, Ontario, Canada,
where they owned and ran a dairy
farm. In 1989, Hank was finding that
work interfered with his playing
tennis—so he retired. Yvette was also a
Registered Nurse for over 40 years.
The couple were married in 1959 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Citrus Park’s 50th Anniversary Party.
This year they will be married 55 years. They have raised 6 children, have 19 grandchildren, and 8 great
grandchildren. They have travelled a great deal.
Hank sang with the Chordsmen for 5 years and was president for 2 years. His interests turned to the celebration of
CANADA DAY in the park. He worked with the committee for 15 years and was president for his last 10 years. He
organized and chaired many excellent and well attended theme days. His wife, Yvette, his right hand person--was always
present--giving him suggestions and helping with all aspects of the day. What a TEAM!!
The Binnendyk’s have been involved with Mardi Gras events for many years. During Yvette’s years with the water
aerobics team, she designed and made many Mardi Gras costumes for the team. Her Mardi Gras “Fitness is Fun and
Singing in the Rain” costumes are still remembered today.
Hank has been carrying the Canadian flag in the Mardi Gras Parade for over 10 years. He also helped build a large
replica of the Map of Canada for a Parade Float back in 2000.
After spending 25 winter seasons in Citrus Park, the Binnendyks realize that they have found their little piece of
Paradise.

February 15th - Program will be announce at a later date.
Thanks to all the generous people from Citrus Park who
made donations to the Computer Club and the kind gift
from the Canada Day Committee, we had over $11,000
this year to purchase 36 new laptops for needy children.
The schools have rigorous standards when choosing the
children who must have good academic
progress, good attendance and no computer in their home.
For the past several years, Teach (Donna Comfort) has
kindly purchased backpacks for the laptops. With the
passing of Teach, Bonnie Beasley kindly offered to make a
donation in Teach’s memory. The schools felt that a
memory stick was more useful than the
backpacks, so they have been purchased for the children.
This brings the grand total of computer donations to
children since we started to 564!!

those who bought the tickets. We will be getting a new

everyone in Citrus Park to enjoy. We plan to do some
landscaping, a few major repairs and renovations, and
generally maintain the facility for everyone in the park to

to all my helpers, from selling tickets to the final cleanup,
you did a great job. A special thank you to my wife, Gerry,

Citrus Park Synchronized Swim Team
The Citrus Park Synchronized Swim Team is excited to
begin a new season! The Citrus Park Synchronized Swim
Team has been a continuous group activity for more years
than the softball leagues. Unfortunately membership
has been decreasing for several seasons through natural
attrition and retirements. Current enrolment precludes
realistic expectations for a spring swim show. We are
in crisis and need new members. If you have an interest
in synchronized swimming, if you love to swim and are
comfortable in the water, we can teach you the rest. We
practice every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 at the RH
pool. Come to the pool and watch, we will welcome you
to our wet and wild group of fun and friendship! For

Hamlin Association
Thank you to all who came to the annual meeting.
We hope you went away having gained knowledge about
our community and about the growing of citrus trees.
How about that wine and cheese party? Did you enjoy the
fellowship with your friends and neighbors?
The Hamlin Association is in need of volunteers. Being a
street director or an alternate is not very time consuming
but can be very rewarding. As a board member, you are able
to be on the inside in gaining information about what is
happening in Citrus Park. As a spokesperson for your street,
you have opportunities to meet and assist your neighbors.
If you are a people person, think about joining the board.
If your street already has their directors in place, volunteer
to assist them. Your interest will be appreciated!
If you have not yet purchased a reflective number sign for
your unit, they can still be ordered by contacting Frank
Elmquist. (949-2826)
Hamlin gives out welcome packets to newcomers. This
year, we are revising the content so there has been a delay
in getting them out to the directors for distribution. If you
are interested in obtaining a copy, please contact your street
director.
