From 1960 to 1965 the Comet was produced on a Ford Falcon plaIorm. By 1964 the Comet was redesigned wearing a much squarer body than it’s predecessors and the high performance variant was labelled the “Cyclone”. For 1964 Ford produced about 50 ultra-‐high performance lightweight Comet Cyclones, equipped with their racing two-‐carbureQor 427 engine, similar to their cousin, the Ford Thunderbolt. In order not to compete with each other, the Thunderbolts ran in Super Stock on 7-‐inch (180 mm) Wres, but the Cyclones were on 10-‐inch (250 mm) Wres, where they were as dominant as modified to run in A/FX the Thunderbolts were in Super Stock. The specific early history of DUJ 254B is unknown but suspected to have been mainly used as a road car. In 1990 Joeahim Rabe imported the car from the US to Hamburg, Germany. It arrived in racing spec and it is believed that the car had some light compeWWon history in the States some years previously. Rabe further modified the car into FIA spec and raced the car on and off unWl 2005 in the HTWT German Historic Touring Car Championship with moderate success. Richard Dodkins purchased the car in late 2005 and set about rebuilding and preparing it. In 2007 the car enjoyed significant success in the TopHat Masters series and noteably at the Goodwood Revival where Nick Whale and Andy Rouse finished 3rd overall in the St.Mary’s Trophy race. More recently the car has run at the front of the Masters Pre 66 Touring Car championship and in the Spa 6 hours driven by Roger Wills, Paul Radisich, John Fitzpatrick, Joe Twyman and Julian Bronson Contact: David Clark: [email protected] +447831392800 Joe Twyman: [email protected] +447827926894
