FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hopefully harvest is finished or nearly finished.
We are on the home straight and the finish line is in sight but there is still a lot going on at
school including;
 Presentation Night
 Primary Years Pool Party
 Film afternoon
 Transition meeting for year seven students
 Training and developments
 Excursions
 Visitors
 Report writing
 Art exhibition
We have some new art installations that have been created by Grace Bower and I would like
everyone to come into the school and have a look. The installations really bring some colour
and creative thinking to the school buildings. Grace will be having an Art Exhibition on
Thursday 3 December; please come into the school and have a look. Grace has done a lot of
work and the installations look fantastic.
Student Free Day
Next Monday, 30 November, will be a Student Free Day to allow staff to do training and
development with Teleah Wilson who is our Numeracy and Literacy Results+ Facilitator.
The training and development will focus on growth mindsets and transforming tasks. This is
a continuation of training that we have previously undertaken this term.
Buses
Thank you to all those people (cars and trucks included) who have slowed down to 25km or
attempted to slow down when buses are stopped on the side of the road picking up and
dropping off students.
Governing Council
Our next meeting is on Tuesday 1 December. We will be wrapping up the year and calling
the AGM for 2016. The meeting will be in the Conference Room at 6.00pm.
The Governing Council is running a bottle and can drive; could anyone interested in
donating bottles and cans please take them to Wudinna Recycling. This money is going
towards playground shade and equipment.
Please drop in and visit the school we want parents to see what is happening within the
school.
Yours truly

Secondary Subject Award Sponsorship
Thank you to all of the people who have sponsored Academic Achievement Awards for this
year’s Presentation Night. Your continued support is very much appreciated. All of the
awards now have sponsors thanks to the generosity of a wide range of community members.
Presentation Night
A reminder to all Secondary students – Presentation Night is on Friday 4 December. It is an
expectation that all students will attend this event and that appropriate school uniform will be
worn (including appropriate footwear). Please include this in your diary of events to come –
look forward to seeing you on the night to celebrate and acknowledge the excellent
achievement of our students.
Final week activities (Week 9)
Students will continue their normal timetabled lessons until
the end of Wednesday 9 December, completing alternative
activities of relevance to their various subjects. On
Thursday 10 December, students will be engaged in
alternative activities, which will include some time spent at

outside of the room.

10 December.

really well to Kate’s teaching. Class teachers and students
are now working very hard to practise these dance items
that they developed with Kate. They will be performed for

The Primary SRC Social was held last Friday in Room 16.
Thank you to the SRC Reps for working well together to
organise this social. They were capably led by the

supervising on a Friday night and to Craig Standley for
setting up the lights and the bunting. Thank you also to

Training and Development
Primary staff met on Wednesday after school to share
teaching strategies in Numeracy that teach and encourage
deep and rich thinking skills. It was really valuable to hear
of the different ideas and experiences. We all came away
with enthusiasm and new ideas.
Expressive Arts
The Reception – Year 8 students viewed the “G’Day Asia”
performance recently. The performance was entertaining
and informative and took the students on a tour through
Schools Ministry Group Seminars
On Wednesday next week, the Schools Ministry Group
will be presenting two hour long seminars. The students
Reception – Year 5 will attend a seminar on “The Wait for
Christmas” which includes the story of Christmas and the
wider meaning of Christmas. The message will be that
people don’t need to wait for a special day or holiday to
care for the people around us and to show kindness and
respect to all people. The Year 6-10 students will attend a
seminar on “Identity/Deconstructed”.
This seminar aims to deconstruct the common
understanding of identity and self-worth to reveal
conceptions of how our identity can be formed, including
relationships, culture and social media.
Thank you Classroom SSOs
I would like to sincerely thank the SSOs who have been
working in the classrooms this year to enhance the learning
outcomes of our students. Pat Wilkins worked with
students in both the Primary and the Secondary sections of
the school. Emma Bigg and Doug Calow worked with
Primary students. Nola Buckham, Tessa McKenna and
Emma Bigg worked with students on the QuickSmart
program. Melissa Thomson, Marlene Boylan, Cassie
Stringer, Miriam Brands and Carol Cummings worked
with students with specific needs. Thank you so much to
you all for your dedication.

Primary Assistant Principal
FROM THE PASTORAL CARE WORKER
The Schools’ Ministry Seminars are next Wednesday,
2 December at 9.00am (primary) and 10.00am (secondary).
If any of the WEC Group would like to join us, sign in at
the Front Office and come have a look! In this interactive
primary school presentation, the Christmas story is shared
through dynamic storytelling, Christmas activities and
unique media. Students are encouraged that they don’t
need to wait for a special day or holiday to show love and
care for the people around them. The theme of the
Secondary seminar is – “Identity Deconstructed”. This
presentation reveals different ways our identity can be
formed, including relationships, culture and social media. I
hope this seminar will radically change our view of selfworth, build resilience and transform our relationships.
Cheers! From Carol

KITCHEN GARDEN RECIPE BOOKS
A revised edition of the Kitchen Garden Cookbook will be available for purchase soon.
Recipe books will cost $15 each and contain all of the original recipes (with some minor
adjustments) along with new ones.
A competition was held to design the cover for the new cook book. The winner was
Montana Foster. Montana will receive a free copy of the book and have the honour of her
design featuring on every book.
Recipe books will be for sale at the Wudinna Christmas Markets and Pageant Day on
Sunday 13 December. There will be a Kitchen Garden stall in the Hall. We are also
planning on providing food samples to showcase some recipes from the book.
The books will make excellent Christmas gifts. We hope to see you at the Kitchen Garden
stall. Funds raised will go toward the continuation of the Kitchen Garden programme.
If you would like to place an order beforehand, please complete the following form, place
it in an envelope titled Kitchen Garden Cookbook order and send it to Wudinna Area
School, with payment before the end of term. You can collect your books at the market
