DCRUST,
MURTHAL
The erstwhile Chhotu Ram State College of Engineering, Murthal Haryana Government Institute
was upgraded to Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science & Technology, Murthal through
an act of legislation dated 30.10.2006 issued vide Haryana Govt. notification No. Leg./33-2006
dated 6.11.2006.The University is located on the National Highway No. 1(G.T. Road) 48 Km. from
ISBT, New Delhi towards Chandigarh. The location of university falls within one of the fastest
growing industrial belt of Haryana. The University is spread over 273 acres and has a fully
residential campus with ample built up space in a contemporary architectural idiom.
This university aims to create new frontier of knowledge and produce excellent engineers who
have learnt their skills in an environment of highly competent & skilled faculty– engineers who
will known for their innovation, imagination, synthesizing & analytical competence, scientific

PROCEDURE
The admission procedure for the various programmes at DCRUST ensures that only the ve
best of students make it to their campuses. The admission to various programmes is carrie
through the following highly competitive national level examinations.
JEE (Joint Entrance Examination)
GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)
NATA (National Aptitiude Test in Architecture)
LEET (Lateral Entry Entrance Test)
Admission to the Doctoral Programme (Ph.D)
The different programmes at D.C.R.U.S.T. are designed to build the
fundamentals and cater to the industry needs. Exposure to real
industry problems is given adequate importance.
From the year 2008, undergraduate education has undergone a paradigm shift
with the introduction of Minor option and strong emphasis on cross-disciplinary
and interdisciplinary opportunities.

Doctoral Programme
The Ph.D. programme offered by the institute
requires an original doctoral thesis that should
result in a significant contribution to that field.
The aim of this programme is to
keep pace with the expanding frontiers of
knowledge and provide research training
relevant to the country’s technological,
social and economic objectives. The average
duration of the programme is 4-5 years.
Rigorous International Peer Review
With a searchable database of the Ph.D.
students’ research profiles, the process is
extremely recruiter-friendly. To add to
this, the recruitment for Ph.D. students can
happen throughout the year, and the process
is very flexible to help the recruiters
conveniently fulfil their requirements.
RESEARCH &
DEVELOPMENT
INFRASTRUCTURE
Research has become an essential part of any business enterprise, be it in pure sciences or in other areas compromising
industry or even in social sector. Without this there can be a stagnation which no economy can afford. In case of education
as well as research, in combination with the teaching-learning process, makes the entire gamut of symbiotic
complementariness into generating human capital. It is with this mind that the University is laying high stress on research
in all main and allied areas of study program’s of the University. To attract the best talent an open advertisement had given
in 2009 and of the total of 350 applications received for the registration for research leading to the degree of Doctorate
of Philosophy (Ph.D.) a total of 90 scholars had been registered in the University. The response during the year 2011 has
been much better in that around 100 scholars had appeared for the entrance examination and their registration is
expected to be finalized shortly after scrutiny by the Departmental Research Committees. Research Advisory Committee
constituted provides the needed support and direction to the research activities.
At DCRUST, we believe that internships are an integral part of a student’s overall academic achievements.
Students take up summer internships to gain first-hand experience of the professional world, after second or third
year of their academic programme. The duration varies between 8 to 10 weeks starting from May and extending till mid
of July. The recruiting firms include Core Engineering Firms, Research Universities, Banks, Consulting and Analytics
firms, FMCG majors and NGOs.
These internships prepare the candidates for their future.

motivated DCRUST-ians in their second and third year.
»»Helps in building and sustaining relations with companies, universities and social organizations who
wish to recruit students from DCRUST for internships and research opportunities.

worldwide.
»»Assists in conduction of talks, interviews and selection process of the students.
»» Coordinates for winter internships during December
besides summer internships.

DCRUST
Sports
Notwithstanding the tight academic schedule that students have, they manage to indulge in various
extra-curricular activities .A activities ranging from inter-hostel competitions and national level
festivals to managing facilities like messing and hostel infrastructure are entirely managed by
students. These activities provide multitude of platforms for students to hone their technical and
managerial skills, which are imperative for one to excel in his/her workplace.
DCRUST Sports has the infrastructure for various recreational, training and competitive activities,
round the year, in various sports and games. Be it formal participation in sports/games like
football, athletics, chess, basketball ,cricket and tennis , or such activities as walking ,
jogging(marathon), cycling, gyming, one can always find something to match one’s interests and
abilities.
DCRUST Sports Meet & Athletics Meet , held annually in January/ February. Every year DCRUST
Sports event in which the best athletes compete in various sports , & athletic event.
Students Activity Centre SAC plays the host to most of the activities that are conducted round the
year, be it cultural, sports or college festivals.
STUDENT
LIFE
Cultural Activities RYTHM, TECHNOVA, E-STRUCTRA are some of the annual events. Professional performances and concerts by
renowned artists, exhibitions, talent shows, workshops to name are some of the activities held at DCRUST. RYTHM is the annual
cultural fest in which students from various group perform stage shows on a grand scale. The extravaganza of cultural arts like
dramatics, literature, music, fine arts, and debating that RYTHM is, it is an event that everyone in the DCRUST community eagerly
looks forward to!
GROUPS Timely meetings throughout the year and students’ active participation are the most remarkable characteristic of DCRUST.
As a result, DCRUST students outdo their peers at various Inter-collegiate festivals. Students are self-driven to leave a mark on big
stages and it is this passion of theirs which keeps the spirit of DCRUST live and kicking! The sheer variety of activities that students
are involved with is evident from the number of student-groups - dramatics, dance, music (western and Indian), photography, fine
arts, hindi speaking, debating, literary arts, radio shows, astronomy and others. There are also tech clubs like CWmag (coding),
Robotics, INTEC(electronics club), SAE & SOMEC (Mechanical ) and the Maths & Physics club.

The Placement Office is responsible for campus placement at DCRUST. The Training & Placement Officer the
Placement Office staff and the student representatives handle various crucial tasks in the office like reaching out
to companies, scheduling & executing placement related activities and carrying out all official communication
with recruiters and with students. The team strives to strike a match between recruiter expectations and
student aspirations. The team of student representatives consists of the Placement Managers who coordinate
the activities of the other student members and ensure compliance with various Institute policies Company
Coordinators who execute coordination with the recruiting organizations, and Department Placement.
Coordinators who steer student preparedness and employability enhancement initiatives.
The Placement Office is well-equipped with excellent infrastructure to support every stage of the
placement process.

PLACEMENT PROCEDURE
& ACTIVITIES
To support the placement process, the Placement Office has an effective online system in place. The procedure for campus placement
follows the following plan:

The Placement Office sends invitations to
companies/organizations along with
relevant information.
The accounts are created for organizations
interested in recruiting on the website:
http://tnpdcrust.in.
A Company/Organization fills a Job
Announcement Form (JAF)
containing details of the job and the
offer using their online account.
If the company/organization is interested
in conducting a Pre-Placement Talk (PPT)
they can send a request along with the
preferred dates.
The JAF is made available online to the
eligible students, along with any other
information furnished by
company/organization
Interested and eligible (as per the criteria specified
by the organizations) students show their willingness
to appear for the recruitment process of a company
by signing its JAF online. The verified resumes of all
such students become available to the organization
for downloading or viewing through their placement
account.
Organizations can shortlist students. The organizations
are also requested to maintain a waitlist of students
who can be interviewed in the event of non-availability
of some of the shortlisted students.
Placement Office allots dates for recruitment procedure by
considering factors like student preferences, job profile, etc.
Organizations visit the campus on the allotted date(s) and
conduct tests and/or interviews according to their
recruitment process
The company/organization is required to furnish the final
list of selected students in a sealed envelope at the end of
the assigned interview slot. The organizations are also
requested to maintain a waitlist of students in case of nonavailability of some of the selected students.
The Placement Office also coordinates the
signing of offer letters by students who have
been selected to ensure that they reach the
company/organization as early as possible.
The placement season begins in the month of July and goes up till June of following year. However, the
Placement Office conducts several activities throughout the year for the benefit of students. Some of the
activities are as follows:
Resume verification
All claims made by students in resumes submitted for campus placement are duly verified by the Placement
Office. The verification standards are uniform throughout the Institute.
Employability enhancement programs
DCRUST aims to give its students the grooming that they require not just for facing placement interviews
but also to excel in their corporate careers in the future. With this goal, the Placement Office conducts several
employability enhancement activities:
• Communication skill evaluation sessions
• Mock groups discussions and personal interviews
• Informal interactive talks with alumni in hostels and departments
• Aptitude, technical and mental ability tests
• Communication skills enhancement programs
• Workshops in collaboration with recruiting companies to aid students in resume preparation, case study
solving etc.
