Partners Program - 2016 Annual Campaign
Solheim Cup Comes to Iowa
Des Moines Golf w August 14-20, 2017
The
most exciting event in women’s
professional golf is returning to the
Midwest in 2017. Des Moines Golf and
Country Club, home of the 1999 U.S.
Senior Open Championship which drew
a record 252,800 spectators, will host
the 15th playing of The Solheim Cup,
matching the best players from the
United States against the best from Europe.
Des Moines Golf and Country Club will
be the first 36-hole facility in the United
States to host The Solheim Cup, allowing the PING Junior Solheim Cup to be
held at the same venue. The PING Junior Solheim Cup, patterned after The
Solheim Cup, features the top 12 girls
from the United States against
those from Europe.
“We are very excited to be
heading to the Des Moines Golf
and Country Club for the 2017
Solheim Cup,” said LPGA Com-
missioner Michael Whan. “The support
that the Des Moines community has
shown for golf events in the area has
been tremendous. Based on the incredible welcome that we’ve already seen
from the city, state, and local organizers,
I have no doubt that the 2017 Solheim
Cup is already on track to be the best
event we’ve ever staged.
He continued, “From the very first time
we met the Des Moines Golf and Country Club leaders, we realized that we
were able to think big, rally the support
of the community, and facilitate corporate and fan experiences that will take
The Solheim Cup to a new level.”
“Playing in the Solheim Cup is one of
the greatest experiences that you can
have as a golfer,” said Lewis, a member
of the 2011 and 2013 U.S. Solheim Cup
teams. “The atmosphere and excitement that’s created by the fans is unlike
any other event in golf and I can’t wait
to see the amazing display put on by
the great fans in Des Moines.”
Des Moines Golf and Country Club is
the second Pete Dye-designed venue
to host The Solheim Cup following the
2005 tournament at Crooked Stick Golf
Club in Indiana. Other Solheim Cup
tournaments in the Midwest have included the 1998 event at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, the 2002
event at Interlachen Country Club in
Edina, Minnesota and the 2009 event at
Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois – all won by the U.S. Team.
“The Board of Directors and Membership at Des Moines Golf and Country
Club could not be more excited and
Juli Inkster will continue as
United States team captain for
the 2017 Solheim Cup held at
Des Moines Golf. Inkster is a
Hall of Fame member and has
won 31 tournaments during
her career on the LPGA tour!
ready to again showcase our wonderful facilities and Community with this
event,” said Jeff Bodin, President of Des
Moines Golf and Country Club. “We
have a great history of excelling at everything we do and will see to it that
we exceed the strong traditions of The
Solheim Cup as we host it with honor in
2017.”
About the Solheim Cup
The Solheim Cup combines the tradition
and prestige of the game of golf with
passion for one’s country. This biennial,
trans-Atlantic team match-play competition features the best U.S.-born players
from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour and the best European
members from the Ladies European Tour
(LET).
The Solheim Cup is named in honor of
Karsten Solheim, the founder of Karsten
Manufacturing Corporation, which makes
PING golf equipment. In 1990, the Solheim family, in conjunction with the LPGA
and the LET, developed the concept and
became the title sponsor for The Solheim
Cup, professional golf’s international
match-play competition for women. Held
every two years, the event has grown into
the most prestigious international women’s professional golf team event. The
Solheim Cup is the most highly coveted
trophy in women’s professional golf team
competition; some of the most memorable moments in women’s golf have happened during Solheim Cups, and berths
on the U.S. and European teams are highly coveted by players from both organizations.

The Iowa Golf Hall of Fame was established in 1989 with the induction of
the first class. Five more inductions occurred through 1997. Efforts to sustain
the Hall of Fame were suspended for
nearly a decade but the IGA stepped
forward and revitalized the effort with
the induction of the class of 2006.
Yearly inductions have occurred since.
The IGA Foundation serves as host for
two college scholarsip programs:
The Iowa Golf Hall of Fame Committee consists of representatives of the
IGA, Iowa Section PGA, Iowa Golf
Course Superintendents Association,
golf media and independent members
with a strong interest in researching
the history of Iowa golf. Efforts are under way to obtain artifacts and memorabilia from this great history in order
to establish a permanent golf museum
for the state.
The Herman Sani Scholarship Program
is a four-year scholarship awarded to
outstanding graduating seniors who
have excelled in academics, community service and have been involved with
golf. Each recipient receives $8,000
($2,000 per year) over a consecutive
four-year period. Since 1950, 162
Iowa students have been awarded Sani
Scholarships.
The IGAF awards $2,000 Ann Griffel
Scholarships to Iowa high school senior girls who intend to further their
education at an Iowa institution of
higher learning, whether a college,
university or trade school. Since 1963,
223 students have received assistance.

The IGA and IGAF provide funding support annually for the Iowa State University Turf Extension Service. This
service provides important information and scientific troubleshooting for
golf course superintendents and their
facilities throughout Iowa.
Our mission for junior golf and player
development:
The foundation also provides annual
sponsorships to the Iowa Turf Institute
and the annual Iowa Turgrass Conference each January as a Gold Sponsor.
Water issues are critical to the future
of golf and the IGAF is committed to
providing ongoing financial support for
turf industry water quality research
and projects.
With funds allocated from the Partners
Program the IGAF is able to support
these endeavors on an annual basis.
To provide and support competitive
opportunites for junior golfers.
To provide course access and playing
opportunities to those who otherwise
would not have the benefit of this enriching game.
To create and support player development programs in cooperation with
the PGA members, golf courses and
parks and recreation departments in
all areas of the state.
To support and promote the game as
a positive and healthful activity for
families.

Other Giving Opportunities
Support the IGAF Annual Campaign
New in 2016 the IAGF Partners Program will be partnering with the 2017 Solheim
Cup for a special offer.
By partnering at the Par, Birdie or Eagle “Solheim Level” donors will have the
opportunity to reserve one (1) weekly grounds ticket to the 2017 Solheim Cup
to be contested at Des Moines Golf & CC. Couples joining at that level will receive
two (2) weekly ground tickets.
But that’s not all – by supporting the IGAF Partners Program at the Double Eagle
and Benefactor “Solheim Level”, donors will have the privilege and access to one
(1) Wells Fargo Pavilion ticket for the 2017 Solheim Cup. The climate controlled
Wells Fargo Pavilion is located near the clubhouse and is adjacent to the 18th
fairway and green. It will provide plenty of seating (both inside and on the patio), televisions, restrooms and features an upgraded pay-as-you-go menu. This
limited pass is good for all rounds of the Solheim Cup, including practice rounds.
For more than a decade golfers from all parts of Iowa have supported the Iowa
Golf Association through their participation in the Partners Program. The IGA
Foundation (IGAF) is an IRS approved 501(c)3 public charity and therefore all gifts
to the Foundation are tax deductible. This means a portion of your donation (or
all if you choose not to receive the fulfillment items) is tax deductible.
Your contribution through the Partners Program will enable the Foundation to
continue the work of preserving the game and its history and to develop more
programs to protect and promote the future of the game in Iowa. Specifically
your participation help’s to support our initiatives for Junior Golf & Player Development, the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame as well as underwriting support for the
Scholarship Funds and the ISU Turfgrass Extension Service.
Popular alternatives to cash donations are gifts of appreciated property, such as
securities. A securities transfer can take place one of two ways: either through a
broker transfer or certificate.
Many who love the game of golf wish to leave a legacy that will help assure the
future of the game and its values. Planned giving through memorials or personal
wills can accomplish this desire. The Foundation will be happy to work with you
and your advisors in arranging the gift plan that best suits your objectives.
