Stations of the Cross
Calling all SES College Students!
The Stations of the Cross, also known as the Way of
the Cross is a traditional Lenten devotion. Stations
of the Cross serve as an excellent way to tell the
Good Friday story. The stations are places to stop
and think about what is depicted in that scene at that
place. There are typically fourteen or fifteen stations
highlighting Jesus’ walk to the Cross.
Mom & Dad: Please let your college student know
that while home for their upcoming EASTER or
spring semester breaks, if they've served as a Lector,
Greeter, EOM, Altar Server or musician, we invite
them to minister at weekend Mass while home.
Good Friday, March 25 at 3:00pm
Presented by the Knights of Columbus
All parishioners are invited to each or any of these
opportunities for this special devotion.
Flames of Faith
(Sanctuary Lamps and Adoration Chapel Candles)
Intentions for the week of March 20:
There is especially a need during Holy Week/
Triduum and on EASTER SUNDAY liturgies. They
simply need to contact the ministry chair or the
parish office (either one is preferred so we are aware
of your availability), or just check with the sign-in
minister in the Narthex before Mass to let them
know that you are available to assist a ministry, if
needed. For the choir, contact Mr. or Mrs. Stock
directly for music and schedules.
Remind them, that even though miles may separate
us at various times in our lives, they are always in
our thoughts and prayers. As part of our parish
family, we welcome them home and encourage them
to share their gifts and heart for service.

Pontifical Good Friday Collection
to Support
Christians in the Holy Land
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Every year on Good Friday, a collection is taken up in the
Diocese of Joliet and in parishes around the world to
support the people and places of the Holy Land. The
Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land have the
unique responsibility of caring for the Holy Places as well
as caring for the Christians living in the Holy Land.
The Good Friday Collection is applied to these programs
below.
• Faith, Memory & Culture – The Holy Places: Holy
Land Franciscans staff and maintain the Holy places
and shrines. This enables those who live in the Holy
Land and those who visit to deepen their faith and their
spiritual and cultural connection to Salvation history.
• Social Support to Christians in the Holy Land: In
order to assist Christians to remain in the Holy Land,
including the poor and young couples, the Custody
builds thousands of residential units. Additionally, they
build senior care facilities. Medical assistance is
provided for the needy.
• Educational & Scientific Activities: The Fr anciscans
operate and support schools open to all, regardless of
religion or nationality. They provide scholarships for
local students and those studying to become Franciscan
priests or brothers. Finally, Franciscan archaeologists
pursue ongoing research at the Holy Places discovering
historical artifacts.
• Pastoral
Activities: The Fr anciscans pr ovide
pastoral care in 29 parishes in the Holy Land offering
Worship, Christian Formation, youth and family
programs.
• Liturgical,
Ecumenical and Communications
Programs: The Fr anciscan Media Center tells the
story of the Holy Land through multimedia distributed
throughout the world in more than seven languages.
The friars organize Liturgical Celebrations for the local
Christians and Pilgrims and share with other Christian
communities in the Holy Land in ongoing Ecumenical
cooperation.
Please be generous this Good Friday, March 25.
Christians, along with all of the clergy and religious who
serve in the Holy Land, will deeply appreciate our prayers
and financial help.

With over 15 years of experience, Ken Yasinski has
quickly become one of Canada’s most sought after
Catholic speakers. Through clever examples and
insightful stories, Ken reveals how each of us can
obtain freedom from the burden of our sins through
the forgiveness that is readily available in the
Sacrament of Confession.
Parishioner Comments:
Struggling with confession? Ken, through this
encouraging talk and effective storytelling shows us
that it's God's idea, and it is good. I'll share this talk
with anyone who'd trying to understand the
sacrament of Reconciliation.

Questions of the Week
First Reading: Isaiah 50:4-7
Second Reading: Philippians 2:6-11
The Passion of the Lord: Luke 22:14-23:56 or 23:1-49
1. The Suffering Servant in Isaiah put ultimate trust in God, “knowing that I will not be put to shame.” As a
disciple, how do you trust God in difficult times.
2. God greatly exalted Jesus and gave him the Name above every name. How does your life witness that you
regard the Name of Jesus as precious?
3. Jesus told the criminal that he would be with him in Paradise. This Holy Week, how can you transform
abusive relationships in the families of your neighborhoods into ones of love and joy?
Are we also like Peter and deny Christ
over and over? Christ calls us to be all
we can in our Marriage Sacrament. The
next Worldwide Marriage Encounter
Weekends are April 8-10, 2016 or June
10-12, 2016 or August 12-14, 2015, all at Elk Grove
Village, IL.
Early registration is highly
recommended. For reservations/information, call
Jim & Kris at 630-577-0778 or contact us through
http://wwme-chicagoland.org. If you would like to
talk to someone about Worldwide Marriage
Encounter Weekends, call parishioners John & Betty
Schuch. (630-983-5999) Information is also on our

You Can Help Your Marriage
Do you feel alone? Are you frustrated or
angry with each other? Do you argue …
or have you just stopped talking to each
other? Does talking about it only make it
worse? Retrouvaille (pronounced retro-vi
with a long i) helps couples through
difficult times in their marriages. This
program has helped 10’s of 1000’s of
couples experiencing difficulties in their marriage.

“New Covenant: Responsibility for the Earth” – St. Charles Borromeo Ctr., 101 Airport Rd., Romeoville 60446
Tuesday, March 22, 2-3:15pm; 14th Annual Signum Fidei Lecture of Lewis University
Pope Francis' encyclical letter, Laudato Si' (On the Care of Our Common Home), not only situates the care for the planet
within Christian theology, it also offers a critique of the technological and economic paradigm of ‘domination of the
earth,’ often taken up from a misinterpretation of the Book of Genesis. Dr. Hille Haker's presentation will highlight the
analysis given by Francis, and spell out the New Covenant that Pope Francis proposes: a covenant between humans and
the earth. Personal conversion, social change, and policies are needed to make the transformation to a sustainable
lifestyle possible. The presentation will end with initiatives from U.S. universities and students. Dr. Haker holds the
Richard McCormick, S.J. Endowed Chair of Catholic Moral Theology at Loyola University Chicago. For more

As followers of Jesus, we believe we are called to a life that includes a personal, active, and genuine encounter with
Jesus, our Lord. We are called to intentionally live through Him, with Him and in Him. These retreats offer an
opportunity to draw closer to Jesus by reflecting on various themes that characterize His life. The more intimate our
relationship with Jesus, the more we will be transformed into His image and likeness.
“Notions of Hell and Universal Salvation” – St. Thomas the Apostle, Naperville
Saturday, April 9, 9am-Noon; Cost $30; A Men’s Pr ayer Br eakfast
Join for breakfast followed by a presentation which will explore our notions and understanding of Hell. We will
consider the Old Testament roots, New Testament expressions, the ideas of the Early Church Fathers including their
