OBE seminar-workshop

The surging tide of outcomesbased education (OBE) is here and
now. Last July 10-11, all academic
heads were asked by Pres. Rodolfo
San Felipe to attend the seminar
workshop on OBE at the CHARM
conference hall, conducted by Dr.
Ignacio C. Cordova, Jr. Said event is
basically part of TCC's preparation and
readiness for the current K-12 program
of the education department. It also
serves as the venue to officially
announce to all academic heads the
new name of the institution, from the old
Tomas Claudio Memorial College to
Tomas Claudio Colleges. President
San Felipe emphasized the relevance
of OBE, not only as a mandate from the
education department but for the
enhancement of faculty effectiveness in
the teaching-learning process. It is also
aligned with the aggressive
accreditation initiatives for all key
degree-programs of TCC. The
OBE attendees, all ears to Pres. San Felipe
Accreditation status of the various
programs are, as follows: Bachelor of
Science in Business Administration
(BSBA) has Level II first reaccredited
status; Master of Arts in Education
(MAEd) has Level I formal accredited
status; Bachelor of Science in Hotel &
Restaurant Management (BSHRM),
Bachelor of Science in Computer
Science (BSCS), and Bachelor of
Secondary Education (BSEd), all three
programs have acquired candidate
status. We are now in the Age of
Accreditation, and the TCC Board is
supportive of the president's and the
faculty initiatives.
History of the College
TCC is now 65
and going strong
TCC shall always endeavor to do
more for the students.
Founded on August 15, 1950,
Tomas Claudio Colleges (formerly Tomas
Claudio Memorial College) is one of the
pioneering private higher education
institutions, particularly serving the people
along the lakeshore towns of Eastern Rizal.
And it is doing great despite the challenges
of globalization and the economic
slowdown worldwide. It was named in
honor of Tomas Claudio, a national hero
from Morong, who died during the First
World War as an Allied soldier fighting for
the ideals of democracy. Today, TCC
serves as a reliable and proactive partner
of the province in the education sector.

In retrospect, the
change of name from TCMC to
TCC brings back to memory
Ralph Waldo Emerson's
rhetorical question, “What's in
a name?” The American poet
was, of course, referring to a
rose when he asked that
question. In my view, whether
the subject is a rose or an
institution of higher learning,
its generic essence must not
be lost in the discourse, neither
in the nerves and vitals of the
people who value the
subject. In the case of TCC, its
about the heroism of Tomas
Claudio, which we would like to
inculcate among all our
stakeholders – students,
faculty members, nonteaching personnel, parents,

In the 65th anniversary of
our beloved institution, let

country is in dire need of

a strong resolve and fortitude,

Along with the flat-world theory
of Thomas Friedman, the 21st

academic linkages driven by
world “flatteners” like ICT and
advances in transportation. TCC

IT department launches basic PC
troubleshooting training for
out-of-school youth of TCC
The College of
Information launched another
“PC Troubleshooting program”
for 30 out of school youth from
TCC adopted barangay's namely
Barangay-San Pedro and
Barangay-San Juan. The event
was held at room 317 last June 34, 2015. Prof. Rogel Orca Ada
facilitated the training with the

Criminology launches
the essence of
higher education
P. Arriesgado. After graduating
in Tomas Claudio Memorial
College with BS Degree in
Criminology last April 2015,
Cadet Fourth Class Arriesgado
passed the entrance test and is
now a Plebe in the Police
Academy. The TCC College of
Criminology is hoping for a
future general in the PNP
through “Caloy”.
Criminology students to
attend a disaster seminar
The Criminology
Senior students of TCC will
compete in the Regional
Disaster Drill Competition in
Sariaya, Quezon on July 28,
2015. The TCC Disaster Team
after their qualification among
other schools in this event will
represent the entire Rizal
Province.
The phases of
competition are similar to the
television series “Survivor”
which involves water safety/
survival, first aid application/
rescue/ retrieval of submerged
victims, jungle survival and
dragon boat race. The team that
gained their skills in PE 13 is now
undertaking training under the
supervision of Rizal PNP and
MVERT at the Police Provincial
O f f i c e , H i l l t o p , Ta y t a y,
Rizal. The TCC Team headed by
Prof. Glenn B. Antipolo was
named “Morong 43” by Rizal
PNP Training Instructors.
“Morong 43” became familiar few
years ago in the television
network when 43 people
suspected to be NPA rebels were
captured in the town of Morong,
Rizal.
The “Morong 43” is
