Friday 29 – Last day for return of Parent Surveys
From the Principal….
Thursday, 28 July 2016 – Issue 12.
CONGRATULATIONS MARY AND MICK!
I am delighted to be able to announce that Mary and Mick
Drzazgowski welcomed their first child, Leo, into the world
late last week. Mary, Mick and Leo are all doing well and I
know you will join with me in congratulating them on this
very special occasion!
MATHEMATICS AT ROLLINS
As you know we had a Pupil Free Day last Wednesday when
we worked with Michael Ymer who is a highly sought after
Mathematics consultant. Michael really crystallised our
thoughts about how to continue to deliver a high-quality
classroom Mathematics program at Rollins and provided us
with some great new ideas.
In addition to this you should have recently received a letter
from Rhys Thurston, our Mathematics Co-ordinator, about
how you can support Mathematics learning at home.
We’ve focused heavily on Mathematics at Rollins this year
and hope that this translates to improved learning for the
children.
SCHOOL FACEBOOK PAGE
Our Facebook page has revolutionised the way we can
communicate with parents and share news about what is
happening in the school. One of the major benefits has
been our ability to get messages to our school community
quickly. We remind parents that you don’t have to have a
Facebook page of your own to be able to access our page
and keep up with all the latest news.

PARENT OPINION SURVEY
Thank you to those families who received a Parent Survey
and took the time to respond. The information that we
gather from the survey is very important as we plan for the
future. If you haven’t yet returned the survey you have until
tomorrow to do so. This is a great opportunity for you to
share your opinions.
PREP ENROLMENTS 2017
We’ve had quite a busy week with Prep tours and the
enrolments for next year are coming in steadily. We have 24
confirmed enrolments and have handed out many more
enrolment forms. It’s very important for our planning, and
your peace of mind, that we have all enrolments in within
the next few weeks. The number of Prep classes we have in
2017 will be dependent on the number of enrolments we
have. We always try to keep our Prep classes to around 20
students and anticipate having either 2 or 3 classes again
next year.
PREP & YEAR 6-7 TRANSITION
During the second half of the year there are a number of
Transition events coming up for our incoming Preps and
Year 6 students. Our Prep Transition program starts around
October-November and further details will be provided to
parents closer to the date.
Our Year 6 students will be advised of their secondary
school placements in the weeks ahead and they will also
take part in an Orientation Day with their chosen secondary
school. Further information will be provided when it
becomes available to us.
DO YOU RECEIVE THE NEWSLETTER BY EMAIL?
We have many parents in our school community who
receive the newsletter by email each fortnight. There are
lots of benefits to both the school and our families by taking
up this option. If you are not currently receiving the
newsletter by email but would like to in the future, just
contact the office and Sandy can add you to our distribution
list.
