Reunion Update Letter
Hello Kendrick Clan!
I hope that all is well with you and your family. I apologize that this update letter is late in coming, but we have been
very busy lately. I wanted to bring everyone up to speed on the Kendrick news.
The last Kendrick reunion was held on July 14th, 2012 in Fredericksburg, Texas. We had a wonderful time getting
reacquainted with family members. Stuart Kendrick (son of Jack Kendrick) was president along with vice president
Karolyn Kendrick and Sarah Pruitt Crafts, treasurer. There were 30 family members in attendance with Mark Kendrick
(brother of Stuart) coming the furthest (all the way from Ecuador). Mark’s daughter, Ana Paula received the award for
being the youngest and Bob Pruitt for being the eldest. Last reunion was the 50th anniversary of the first BJ Kendrick
reunion (held in Mineral Wells, Texas in 1962), as well as the 100th anniversary of BJ Kendrick’s death.
We want to thank Stuart for presiding over a great reunion in 2012. We appreciate the time he has invested researching
our family history. Stuart gave a talk on BJ Kendrick, mentioning the 60th wedding anniversary of BJ Kendrick and
Margaret Dianna Bond Kendrick (1905), as well as his service in the Georgia regiment of the Confederate Army in the
Civil War. Stuart also acknowledged BJ’s membership and service as a deacon in the Baptist Association and he spoke
about some of the bulletins of years gone by along with memorabilia displayed that day. Stuart mentioned that his
research has led him to believe that the Kendrick family is mainly of Irish decent (Welsh- English) and he also spoke a
while on the Ish family history.
I am sure that most of you have already heard that we lost a very beloved family member last year, Karolyn Kendrick
(daughter of Wallace Kendrick). She was very interested in the Kendrick family and a great contributor to the reunions.
In 2012, Karolyn served as vice-president of the reunion and gave a presentation on family history. She pointed out how
fortunate the Kendrick family has been through the years. Karolyn also mentioned the great contributions that family
members have made to research and documentation, including the website that Jeff Kendrick has developed and
populated with family pictures and memorabilia. Her presentation focused on the life of BJ and his family in Georgia,
noting his service in the Confederate Army. She spoke of BJ’s move to Texas shortly after the Civil War in 1865 and of his
many accomplishments. We will miss her dearly and always remember her bright and cheerful spirit.
All in all we had a wonderful time in Fredericksburg and it was great to see the family. Here are some miscellaneous
photos of the reunion:
Look at the great fun that
this Kendrick group is having!
Now after seeing all these photos, I know you will want to be a part of the 2014 Kendrick Reunion. The 2014 officers are:
Evan Kendrick, president; Susan Sheeren, vice-president; and Tom Kendrick, treasurer. The 2014 location will be in
Salado, Texas at the Stagecoach Inn. I checked into other locations, but I decided to fall back on the old faithful
Stagecoach. I know that other motels have newer rooms, but most of the family do not stay overnight, and the
conference room is very nice. Also, we have the Stagecoach Inn nearby for lunch which allows us to easily return to the
conference room to finish the afternoon schedule of the reunion. I will reserve a block of rooms at the Stagecoach Inn
for both Friday and Saturday night (July 18th & 19th). Please request these particular rooms if you want to reserve some
of them, otherwise I will cancel 24 hours before the 18th if nobody needs them. The next Kendrick reunion will be held in
the smaller conference room at the Stagecoach Inn in Salado, Texas on Saturday, July 19th, 2014. The meeting will start
around 9:30 A.M.; we will break for lunch around 12:00, and then return to the conference room to finish up.
I am in need of some volunteers to prepare a short presentation on someone or an interesting place in your family line
(such as your aunt, father, or grandfather).I will have a laptop and projector available if anyone is interested in doing a
power point presentation. Also, if you have any suggestions or creative ideas about our upcoming reunion, let me know
and I will definitely consider them. My email address is [email protected], phone: 936-203-2432.
Thank you and we will see you in Salado!
Evan Kendrick
