Unique patent granted to MaXi®-Trailer
Van Huët excels in innovation
The new MaXi®-Trailer is an
absolute innovation in the
transport of glass. That is also the
conclusion of the European Patent
Office who will grant the patent on
this concept in April. This is highly
exceptional in the transport
industry. The patent is based on
the unique construction of the
glass stillage that disappears into
the bottom of the trailer. The
MaXi®-Trailer is also suitable for
carrying standard loads and has multimodal use.
European Patent Office
The MaXi®-Trailer: loads of plus points
The MaXi®-Trailer protects the environment and lowers transportation costs. How does that
work? The glass stillage in the trailer retracts automatically. Within 30 seconds the glass
stillage transforms into a smooth loading platform. As a result, the lorry can carry jumbosized floatglass on the way out and general cargo on the way back. Hence the trailer is
always loaded both ways. The traditional inloader travels empty for 50% of kilometres
driven because only glass can be transported with this particular trailer. Travelling empty
translates into higher costs and a greater impact on the environment.
The core of the patent: the special folding glass-carrying stillage
The MaXi®-Trailer: up to 70% less CO2
Glass transporters Van Huët are expecting a success. According to Bert Strikkers, Managing
Director of Van Huët, "Within 5 years there will be 250 MaXi®-Trailers driving in Europe."
MaXi®-Trailers are already driving throughout Europe every day with both glass and general
cargo. It’s a safe and efficient solution, especially over longer distances where the transport
costs are correspondingly high. Loading and unloading requires no special glass stillages
and runs extremely efficiently. Given the developments in the area of rising transport costs
and increasing environmental pressures, we’re expecting a rapid growth of this solution.
The CO2 emission reduces to even 70%, when the MaXi®-Trailer is transported multimodally
by train."

Van Huët: innovative for years
Innovation has been the trailblazer of the Emons Group, of which Van Huët is part. Earlier
successes of Emons are the 2WIN-Trailer and the Logiglass®-concept. Emons is
ambitious: all solutions are protective of the environment and cost saving.
