ABOUT SASTRA
• Founded as Shanmugha College of Engineering in 1984
• Renamed as Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research
Academy (SASTRA) on 6th April 2001
• Conferred the status of Deemed University on 26th April 2001
• The University offers various UG, PG & Ph.D. programmes
• Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre has been established at Kumbakonam
– Notified by MHRD as an off-campus centre under the ambit of
SASTRA

WINNERS - K.R.Ramamani Taxation Moot Court – 2013 &
Best Memorials
The team comprising A.G.Sweta, Akshaya P Sachin, Aishwarya K. Iyer from
SASTRA University beat ILS, Pune in the finals of the Taxation moot court. A total
26 teams from all over the country participated with SVKM and GLC, Mumbai being
the other two semi-finalists.

Competition held at Balaji Law College, Pune
The team comprising of Kum. Smrithi S of IInd year B.B.A., LL.B., Chi. Adarsh S, IInd year

University, Thanjavur won the Ist Runner’s Trophy in the 8thNational Moot Court Competition
held at Balaji Law College, Pune between 17th - 19th January, 2013. A total of twenty two

Competition, Belgaum in March 2012
Chi. Puneeth Gowda, Kum. Radhika Vasudevan and Kum. Akshaya P Sachin won the Raja Lakhan
Gauda National Moot Court Competition held in Belgaum in March 2012. Twenty six teams
comprising of 3 members each from various regions of the country participated in the event.

SASTRA Law Student adjudged best delegate in Global Ethics &
Values Convention
B.Amrith Bhargav, a student of the first year BA;LLB, School of Law, SASTRA University was
nominated the Best Delegate at the First Global Ethics and Values Convention, 2012, held at
the Ishaan Institute of Management and Technology, Greater Noida, from 16th to 18th
December 2012. The forum was a fully residential programme organised by Alexis
Foundation, in partnership with the Centre for Civil Society, New Delhi, Alexis Foundation is
