through research and education programs,
i nfo r m i n g t h e p ra c t i ce of p ro j e c t
management and the real-world application
of research results. SZABIST is one of the few
institutions in the region that understands
the value of best practices in project
management and thus disseminates the
same to its graduates. I believe collaboration
between PMI Islamabad Chapter and
SZABIST shall improve educational
standards as well as equip students with
essential tools to succeed in their
professional lives.
A Message From
Head of Project Management Office
(PMO) At Ufone
In today’s highly competitive and fast paced
technology industry, organizations need
strong aggressive project managers and
leadership to meet the ever-evolving
business development goals. While
studying at SZABIST, I felt that it was the
right place to learn project management
because both the faculty and the curriculum
successfully meet the students’
requirements to cope up with the
(PMP®)
current market challenges. The faculty

abreast with the current developments

and changes happening in the outside
world, mostly belonged to corporate
world, which was an added plus. It was quite an experience to study
project management at SZABIST.
It is no exaggeration to say that teaching at SZABIST is an experience
of its own kind. I have been teaching here for last four years as a
visiting faculty and during this tenure, I have taught students ranging
from fresh Bachelors graduates to mature retired professionals.
Teaching such variety of personnel from different walks of life, gives
you an opportunity to learn and explore new areas It is worth
mentioning that the support staff at SZABIST is very cooperative and
try their best to accommodate the visiting faculty in all possible ways.

ZABIST started its HEC-approved Master in Project Management
(MPM) program in Spring 2009. Admissions are offered twice a
year: Fall & Spring. With more than 1000 students already
graduated, we have the most widespread alumni nationwide. More than
50 students of SZABIST Islamabad have obtained PMI certification of
Project Management Professional (PMP).
MPM provides students with the tools and techniques to manage dayto-day activities of projects of different nature. The course is designed
for people from all walks of life. For practicing project managers, it is a
guide to enhance their capabilities and to solve typical problems that
may arise from time to time. The concepts, principles and techniques
taught in this course are based on, but not limited to, the Project
Management Institute (PMI) framework, which is universally accepted
and practiced. The program takes about a calendar year.
To obtain the MPM degree, 9 courses and 2 Computer Base Training
(CBT) projects must be completed. Each taught course comprises 16
classes of 3 hours each. Computer software and related material along
with technical assistance is provided to students to assist in preparing
their projects after training. Classroom seminars, project management
related games, visits to project sites, and guest lectures from
international speakers are part of this program.

MS (PM)
S
ZABIST offers an MS Degree (M. Phil. Equivalent) in Project
Management. The purpose of this program is to provide
research-based project management education related to a
student's field of interest. By providing the requisite skills and
knowledge, the program paves the way to pursue doctoral
studies.
Recognizing that concentrated studies are a challenge for working
professionals during regular weekdays, we have designed MS in
Project Management as a weekend program. The classes are
offered on Saturdays and Sundays. A total of ten courses
(including a 6-credit thesis) take a minimum of 1.5 years to
complete. To obtain the MS degree, the student should have
successfully completed a minimum of 30 credit hours, and have
passed the GAT examination.
The maximum time limit to complete the MS degree is five years.
Eligibility
For admission in MS Program, the candidate must have:
Sixteen years of education from HEC any recognized educational
institution with minimum 2nd division 55% marks / CGPA 2.50
and one year work experience in managing projects.
A computer-based on-campus entrance test and interview at
SZABIST.
A valid NTS/GAT result of 50% marks.
Candidates with non-business undergraduate degrees are
encouraged to start in our MPM program and then transfer to
MS(PM) program under the “MPM-MS(PM) bridge track”.
I did Software Engineering from
NUST in 2001. Despite having
experience in management, my
formal education in this field was
sorely lacking. Then in 2013, I
started my MS in Project
Management at SZABIST. The
faculty was what really set this
Kamran Azhar
program apart: All of the instructors
Project Manager,
were quite distinguished in their
Haris Enterprises (Pvt) Limited
fields of study and have easily
accessible. This program has truly been a positive experience
for me. I have no hesitation in stating the fact that I found
SZABIST as the best institute in Project Management. I firmly
believe that if you are serious, SZABIST is the right choice.
