Find the
Spring Within
Kathy’s Connection
I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer!
We have some very nice and exciting programs coming up. I hope that you will consider checking
out some of these worthwhile programs.
On Tuesday, August 17th, our monthly series “A New Year & New You” will be titled “Massage
Therapy & Pain Management”. This is our FREE monthly series, it starts at 6 p.m. Refreshments are
provided, and sponsored by Family Pharmacy. Guest speakers are Roberta Hardy & Sherrill Natzke.
Starting August 17 and continuing four weeks on Wednesdays, we will start a new video series called
“Coping” with facilitator, Ann Anderson. The four sessions include Coping with Ourselves, Coping
with Others; Coping with Loss, and Coping with Feelings. The cost is $16.00 and the session time is
5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, August 23, we are hosting FREE Senior Health Exams sponsored by the Genesee County
Health Dept. It will be held here from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.; you must be at least 60 years and a Genesee
County resident. See the article in this month’s newsletter for all that will be offered. You MUST
RSVP, so we can let the County know how many will be in attendance.
On Wednesday, August 24 at 3 p.m., Shaleen Witt, an Intern at Genesys Hospital will be here offering a FREE program on the Hospice Experience. Please RSVP to reserve your seat.
There is plenty more information inside the newsletter relating to these programs and more. Please
take a minute to read through every page. Joie does an excellent job putting this all together for you.
Since our Spring Clean-up Day, there were still some ten-minute jobs that popped up. A BIG
“Thank You” to all who have taken the time to do these jobs.
We are open to suggestions; please come and share your ideas with us. This is your Center! We want
you to enjoy yourself and be comfortable here. We have so many services and programs - many people
do not realize all that we offer. If we can’t help you, we will find the resources that can. Please help us
spread the word that we are here for anyone 50 years and older or for children and family members of
anyone 50 years and older that needs information.
Remember, each and every one of you make us what we are today: A SUCCESS.
Thank you,
Kathy

This 4-week video series features one of America’s most popular and entertaining speakers,
Clayton Barbeau. He presents an insightful
picture of the basic dynamics of the human personality and uses humorous anecdotes shaped
in life’s laboratory to describe how people cope
successfully with life’s emotional challenges.
The four sessions will include:
Coping with Ourselves; Coping with Others;
Coping with Loss and Coping with Feelings.
The hour-long videos will conclude with discussion facilitated by Ann Anderson. This series is
beneficial for everyone, especially when dealing
with stress and emotional issues. It helps many
people realize a different approach to the issues
and relationships they face on a daily basis and
opens up new thoughts for discussion.

and more games to keep our idle hands busy? Why not throw the
saddle on the horse and come to our Renew It Clinic at the Senior
Center? Dial-a-Ride will bring you and take you home again, too.
We call it “Write Your Own Story”. We have a foxy group, some are
very senior citizens, but all have two reasons for coming. First is
just to get away for two hours a week and join in, at times, a rather
interesting conversation but always entertaining. The second reason, to meet with and receive help from those who have written
their Life Story, all bound together in a book.
Call the Davison Senior Center to sign up.
Thursdays, 2:00-4:00 p.m. There are days we just don’t want to go
home, but we do knowing the next Thursday will be even better! It
really is easy, a fun thing to do. Memories flow back to you when you
start looking. Believe me, when you write, we will see that it is typed
and before the year is out, you will have a bound book, pictures
included, that you can give as a gift at Christmas. Come and join us.
It’s your time. Use it to save memories of events of long ago!

All Instructors please let the office know if you are cancelling a
class, whether it is only one session or longer. It helps us when
someone calls and wants to attend your class or program. It is
embarrassing when they show up and you are not here, but you
let your regular attendees know of the change. It is a bad reflection on all of us!
