Christina Maria Rieder, also known as Rykka, represents Switzerland in
Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the sumptuous ballad “Last of Our Kind”.

Presenting: Eneda Tarifa from Albania
Eneda Tarifa represents Albania in Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with
the RnB-song “Fairytale”. In Albania she is known as an actress, TV-host,
songwriter and singer.

ABBA - The Choir
ABBA’s immortal songs in a magical choir setting. Listen to Dancing
Queen, Mamma Mia and other gems in The Choir’s repertoire. The choir
was started by ABBA The Museum to celebrate the 40 year anniversary
of ABBA’s international breakthrough at the Eurovision Song Contest in
Brighton 1974.

Martin Stenmarck
Martin Stenmarck’s big breakthrough came when he won Melodifestivalen 2005 with
the song ”Las Vegas”. This year he competed with the song “Du tar mig tillbaks”.
He will perform in Eurovision Village with his own band.

Bollywood Opera with Dogge Dogelito
Rossini’s comical opera ”Italian girl in Algiers” has been transformed into a fantastic
Bollywood-film performance. The famous rap-artist Douglas Leon, more known as
Dogge Doggelito, plays Kapten Hali. The opera is a unique performance with a large
ensemble consisting of opera singers, musicians, dancers and children, both professional, internationally known stars and amateurs from Botkyrka. They let us revel
in sensuous Rossini coloraturas and Bollywood dancing in a colourful firework of
festive music and dancing. On the stage in Dammen in Eurovision Village we will get
a sample from the coming show.

Club night: Soul train
An evening with a superb mix of soul, funk, disco and RnB from the
70’s until today. The club is hosted by DJ Anders Müller and René Disteli
Hedemyr, a duo that has filled dance floors every night for four years.
Now the club will move out to Dammen in Eurovision Village for one
evening. Don’t miss!

groovy pop-rock song “Alter Ego”.
An evening with Ted Gärdestad’s music and his brother Kenneth’s lyrics
Ted Gärdestad would have turned 60 this year and competed four times in Melodifestivalen.
That’s why we celebrate him tonight.

The Ted Gärdestad scholarship
For the 17th year in a row, the Ted Gärdestad scholarship is awarded by two of the
founders of the Ted Gärdestad memorial fund, Janne Schaffer and Kenneth Gärdestad.

The celebratory concert Sol Vind och Vatten
The concert is built on Ted Gärdestad’s original
arrangements. The host is Janne Schaffer, who was
Ted’s personal friend and played on almost all of his
songs. He talks about the music, about the person Ted
was and also joins the band. Soloists Sonja Aldén and
Kristin Amparo are brilliant Gärdestad’s interpreters
and have been handpicked alongside Johan Boding
whose vocal pitch is very similar to Ted’s high tenor.
The musical director Peter Ljung has gathered
some of Sweden’s top musicians. The concert contains some of Ted’s most popular songs and had
been performed all around the country with splendid
reviews. This is the first time it’s played in Stockholm.

Concert:
Songs of Freedom
Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and the Stockholm Department for
Human Rights and Democracy arrange this concert with artists who through the power of music fight for a better world.
On stage:
Ramy Essam from Egypt, whose music has become a soundtrack for a generation of
young Egyptians and their fight for a better future.
Maxida Märak from Sapmi sisters works passionately for the equal rights for the
Sami people and combines beats, rap and jojk in a mix completely unique to her.
Adam Tensta is one of the biggest Swedish hip hop artists and has gotten a lot of
attention for his commitment to equality and fight against racism.
Systraskap creates timeless and rebellious electro.
During the concert Freemuse gives out their annual award to a musician that has
fought censorship. Freemuse is a non-profit organization that monitors different
kinds of censorships affecting artists all over the world.

Concert with Kulturskolan Stockolm (Stockholm School of the Arts)
There will be lots of music; pop, rock, jazz, big band and funk, when students from
Europe’s largest school of the arts, Kulturskolan Stockolm, enter the stage. Come
listen to a fun, fast-paced and charming show!

Talk: Music – a human right?
Around the world, artists, musicians and authors are living under threat and persecution because of their art. Sweden is one of the countries in the world that is most
generous and open towards refugees fleeing persecution because of their artwork.
Networks, municipalities and the government are deeply committed to this issue.
Why and how are artists being censored? Why are foreign artists given refuge in
Sweden?
Welcome to an important discussion,
moderated by music journalist Ametist Azordegan.
Panelists: Lavon Volski, Belorussian musician, Sissela Nordling Blanco, chairman for
the Stockholm Department for Human Rights and Democracy, Ole Reitov, Freemuse,

Flag ceremony initiates the inauguration
For the first time in Eurovision Song Contest’s history, the inauguration is initiated
by a flag ceremony. Come watch when the 42 competing nations’ flags are raised in
front of the EuroClub in a celebration of the “Come together” theme. Soldiers from
the Swedish Life Guards will raise the flags and the Royal Swedish army band performs.
By the EuroClub on Skeppsbron in front of the Royal Palace.

The participants walk the red carpet
Artists and musicians will walk the red carpet in front of the EuroClub before attending the official opening ceremony at the Stockholm City Hall. On the red carpet
they will pose for photos and TV-crews and also give short interviews.

Dance introduction (“prova på”) and performances
Balettakademien, one of the leading dance schools in Scandinavia, offers performances and the chance to try street dance, jazz dance and dance hall. The introduction
classes are suitable for all ages and don’t require any previous dance experience.
Every hour you can enjoy the show and every 30 minutes there is an introduction
class.

12.00 Engelska skolan, from the Stockholm neighbourhood Kista, performs with their own winner from the framträder
med deras egen vinnare från den engelsk-språkliga tävling Kista Lilla Melodifestivalen. The song being performed is the
Australian contribution from the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, “Tonight Again”.
12.25 Eleven students from Mariaskolan performs soul music: Hit the Road Jack, You Can’t Hurry and I Want you Back.
12.50 Bagarmossen skola performs their show ”Keep Breathing”, an artisk mix of music, dance and song. Improvisation
and movement is the theme throughout this beautiful and tender performance.
13.15 A girl band from Sjöängssskolan plays and sings covers and their own songs. Among other songs, you can listen
to “All of me”, “Chaos Walking”, “Tide turns” and “Did I tell You”.
13.40 Second graders at Slättgårdsskolan are lost in space. The plot of the performance is about a person who is lost
and needs help finding the way back to her home planet.The pupils will perform some of the songs from the musical.
14.05 Salomey, from Kungsholmens västra gymnasium, will be reading the poem Phenomenal woman of Maya Angelou.
14.20 Sakariya Hirsi, 18 years old from Didaktus gymnasium, reads a poem about what she can do trough poetry to
make a different and inspire others.
14.35 Students that are native Spanish speakers play guitar and sing latin american songs.

Stockholm Pride and Rille Hante present a glittering
schlager evening for Diversity!
We promise an unforgettable evening where differences are
celebrated, key changes appreciated and where you can dance to
a cavalcade of schlager hits from Eurovision winners from many
different countries and decades. Greece’s – but also our – superstar
Helena Paparizou ups the tempo with the hits we love, and world
famous Katrina (Katrina and the Waves) gets us warm with the
ultimate summer hit “Walking on sunshine”. Both have won the
Eurovision Song Contest. Both participate in the Eurovision Concert
for Diversity. All to show that gender, size, age, diagnoses or income don’t matter. Everybody is equal and everybody is welcome to
Eurovision Village.

Students from the schools in Stockholm enter Dammen
12:00 Nordiska musikgymnasiet gives us an excerpt from the musical they have written called “O-lägenhet” with
songs like Aquarius, Art is calling for me and For good from Wicked.
12:25 Västerholms friskola performs ”The Musical of Love”, a Bollywood inspired musical with Western elements. The
students sing, both solo and in the choir, act and dance. They have named the musical “The Musical of Love” since they
believe that love conquers all.

Come visit Eurovision Village, the big fairground in the heart of Stockholm. There are lots of
things to see and do here. You’ll find first-class food, drinks and entertainment every day May
6–14 between noon and midnight.
A number of the participating artists in this year’s competition will perform live on the big stage, for instance Spain, Australia, Great Britain, Georgien, Cyprus and Switzerland. Previous winners in the Eurovision Song Contest and a many Swedish artists will also perform in concerts and
specially arranged shows.
There are lots of exciting and tasty food and drinks to try at the different sponsors and at Operakällaren and the City Skyliner bar.

Children’s book bus

The Children’s Book bus will arrive at Eurovision Village on
May 7 and 14 with books about music - with song, dance and
music. Kids can also make their own instrument- maracas. In
the book bus you can also listen to fairy tales or have your
face painted.
Studiefrämjandet
Studiefrämjandet is the largest student union in Sweden and
they will have a number of fun activities in Eurovision Village.
May 6–8 Cosplay and dance battle! Learn more about the
phenomenon that is Cosplay (costume play) with the help of
Nancy who will enter the national Cosplay championships.
In the dance battle you get to show your moves on a dance
mat - the highest score wins a prize.
May 9–14 Music days with iPad studio! Come make your own
hit song or sing along to one of your favorite schlagers. On
Saturday May 14 the hit of the week is presented!
ABBA museet

ABBA The Museum will also be located in Eurovision Village in the form of a pop-up museum! Take photos with the

City Skyliner

Visit the City Skyliner attraction and get a completely breath-taking and unique view of the inner city. City Skyliner
is an 81-meter tower, which is placed in Eurovision Village
between April 29 and May 22. It offers a 360 degree panoramic view of Stockholm and is accessible to wheelchair users.
It takes 60 people at a time and costs SEK 100 per person.
