Internationally acclaimed African American artist, Ms. Annie Lee, began painting
at the ripe old age of ten, and later studied art at Mundelein College and the
American Academy of Art.
Her art has grown beyond the canvas into new mediums and thus, in 1997,
Annie Lee signed Sandy USA, Inc. to be
the exclusive licensee of Sass ’n Class
’n
by Annie Lee. This collection of resin
®
figurines and décor accents re-created
by
from her canvas paintings, has been an
outstanding success. Accompanied by the poetry of her daughter, D. Joy Smith,
each piece reveals the optimism, joy, humor, and tenderness of life events, which
are all part of our human experience.

Harriet Rosebud
The motivation to create her wearable art came from Harriet Rosebud’s interest at a
very early age in the shapes and colors found in even the tiniest of things like the
design within a butterfly’s wings.
Armed with a BS in Political Science and a
two-year study of Millinery Arts at the Fashion
Institute of Technology in New York, Harriet
Rosebud decided to follow her heart and develop
Hats to hold on to...
her own business—with hats as her canvas.
Now residing in the historic Sugar Hill district in Harlem, New York City, Harriet
Rosebud joined forces with Sandy USA to develop her creations into miniature hats,
Bible/book covers, tote bags and more, in tribute to the African-American woman
and her hats. As Harriet herself states, “We have marched in them, we “sat-in” in
them and we worship in them. They are our hats to hold on to.”
•
Each miniature hat is recreated from the original
designs of Harriet Rosebud
•
Each hat is made of original materials such as
felt, satin, straw, or sinamay with adornments in
feathers, silk, satin, and beading
•
Each hat with mannequin head (up to 6” H)
comes in its own hat box with storyline hangtag
