From Your Exalted Ruler
June Greetings,
Congratulations to
Harry
Yocum, who
won $2,885
in the “Queen
of Hearts.
New pot amount is
$2,834.
Many thanks to Greg
Goumas and Gabe Buena
for an outstanding
Mexican dinner they put
on May 1st. We made
about $1,000 to help
support the State Golf
Tournament. Thanks to all
that attended.
Sunday, the 16th of May
we had our annual Elks
Bicycle Run. Thanks to
Kenny Warner and Stacy
Swartz. I had to be out of
Flag Day June 14, 2009
Ritual for Flag Day
“Commemorating the Birth of
the American Flag”. We are
looking for members to help
present the flags as a story is
told about each flag. We will be
holding a practice June 9,
2009 at 7:02 pm at the lodge.
We will be holding our annual
Flag Day program on the Square
at the Gazebo on June 14, 2009
starting at 6:30 p.m. The Boy
Scout troop 2, Newark Mayor Bob
Diebold and the Land of Legend
Chorus will also take part.
The Elks will be presenting the
In the event of rain this event
will be moved to the lodge and
held in the ballroom. We
encourage all Elks and their
families to attend. . .

state but I understand we
had about 50 bikers, one
wreck, and no arrests.
June 14th we will be holding
our annual Flag Day
Ceremony at the Gazebo on
the Square. We will be
telling a short history of
each flag they present
starting with our Original
Flag to the present day flag.
Remember, we were the
first Elk Lodge to hold a Flag
Ceremony. It is a beautiful
and interesting ceremony. If
it rains it will be held in the
ballroom of the Lodge.
Joe Johnston will give his
year-end audit report at the
June 16th meeting.
The Queen of Hearts pot is
over the $5,000 mark and
this means if your name is
drawn and you did not win
the Queen Pot you will win
$100 if present. If no big
winner then at 9:00 we will
draw another ticket for
$100 till someone present
wins.
Fraternally Yours,
Gary Kinney, Exalted Ruler
June 20 Work Party Update Exit lighting
The Trustees met following
the Board of Governors
meeting. The following was
discussed: updating the
EXIT lights to LED lights.
They last longer and are
cheaper to maintain. We
need to add EXIT lighting at
the bottom of the steps
leading from the Grill Room
to the front door. An
emergency spot light will be
installed in the rear
stairway to the alley.
A work party will be held
June 20, 2009 (time to be
announced). We will be
working inside and outside
the Lodge. If you can help,
see Mike Young.
The Trustee meetings
follow the Board of
Governors meetings. All
members are welcome to
attend.
