At Wellstar Kennestone, we believe new graduate
nurses are our future. That’s why we offer new
graduate nurse specific onboarding opportunities
during the Spring and Fall of every year.
At Wellstar, we believe THE FIRST
NURSING YEAR IS FILLED EQUALLY WITH
EXCITEMENT AND CHALLENGES.
• We offer a one-year residency to support the development of co-worker relationships and to
assist with the transition into the professional
nurse role.
• We offer focused fellowship programs for Critical
Care, Acute Care, Emergency Department and
Women’s Services specialties.
• We offer orientation time appropriate for the level
of specialty
• Labor & Delivery: 24 weeks
• Critical Care/Emergency Department: 20 weeks
• Intermediate Care: 16 weeks
• Acute Care/Telemetry & Mother/Baby: 12 weeks
At Wellstar, we believe ALL OF OUR
NURSES DESERVE THE BEST ORIENTATION
POSSIBLE.
For our graduate nurses:
• We offer a specific management team dedicated to facilitating a positive, organized and welcoming
orientation experience
• We offer preceptors that desire to teach and mentor the next generation of care givers through
an appropriately individualized orientation plan.
• We offer regular meetings to obtain new graduate
feedback on the orientation experience and set clear
goals for each orientation phase.
• We offer an orientation focused on bedside learning experiences to optimally prepare our new nurses for independent bedside practice.
At Wellstar, we believe that healthcare is
truly a partnership and hiring the right
individuals is one of our most important
jobs in offering World-Class Health Care.
In the interview panel sessions, we expect candidates to:
• Demonstrate professionalism and dedication to the nursing profession.
• Understand their area of interest in nursing by completing a comprehensive senior practicum or
working as a clinical care partner or student nurse
extern.
• Provide transcripts showing a 3.0 GPA in nursing educational program.
• Provide two letters of recommendation: one from
a nursing instructor and one from clinical preceptor
in senior practicum or nursing clinical support
role. Additional letters above the required two are
welcome.
• Relay specific situations demonstrating initiative,
customer service, conflict resolution and critical
thinking in the clinical setting.
