Tellico Cabin
This cabin is located at the Telliquah Preserve in Tellico
Plains, Tennessee. It is comprised of 1,946 heated square
feet in the cabin, with sleeping and storage lofts of 302
square feet. There is a detached garage of 327 square
feet.
The design is a modern interpretation of a mountain fishing
cottage. It is clad in dark stained cedar siding and has gray
metal roofs that combine steep and moderate pitches. The
terraces to the river, foundations, fireplace and exterior
columns are clad in mountain stone. Walkways are scored
concrete. Windows are by Marvin, clad in architectural
bronze aluminum to the exterior with wood frames to
the interior. The landscaping consists of plant species
indigenous to the river’s edge.

The floors and foundations are conventional with a
foundation drain conducting water away from the
foundation. The house is framed conventionally with 2 x
6 stud walls and insulated with high R-value foam. The
master bedroom and living room have exposed red oak
timber rafters with a tongue and groove deck stained and
sealed. There are some exposed engineered heavy timber
beams and columns.
The interior walls are painted drywall and the ceilings are
3/4” tongue and groove spruce, stained and sealed. Floors
are reclaimed heart pine with tile in the bathrooms and
laundry. The kitchen cabinets are Craft-Art with soapstone
countertops and stainless steel appliances.
