physical servers and storage is consolidated to a minimum.
Tandberg Data and Veeam Software have a technology partnership and provide you a turnkey Solution on
backup for virtual environments based on Tandberg Data’s products and Veeam Backup & Replication.

BizNAS™ and RDX® QuikStor™
Tandberg Data’s BizNAS family of network-attached storage (NAS) appliances provide fast and easy
deployment of 1TB to 16TB of expandable, fault-tolerant storage for file sharing, server virtualization,
disaster recovery, and data protection. A clean user interface streamlines all NAS functions so IT
administrators can get back to more pressing matters.
The RDX QuikStor disk-based removable storage system offers rugged, reliable and convenient storage for
backup, archive, data interchange and disaster recovery. RDX QuikStor combines the portability and
reliability of tape-based backup with the speed and simplicity of a hard drive. It attaches directly via USB 3.0
to BizNAS and provides a LAN-free solution for secondary off-site backup copies. (Firmware level
v.2.5.9.2014_1006-1940.21 is required and avaiable from the Tandberg Data web.)

Configurations
INTRODUCE BizNAS TO VEEAM BACKUP & REPLICATION
To use BizNAS as a Backup Repository, it must be introduced to Veeam Backup & Replication as a
Unix Server.
Type in the IP-Address of BizNAS,
change the default description if
required.
Add the credentials for SSH connection
to the BizNAS.

BACKUP REPOSITORY FOR BizNAS
Create a Backup Repository for BizNAS
starting with the Name.
Choose Linux Server for Type as
BizNAS OS is based on Debian Linux.
Choose the BizNAS as a repository
server (here IP Address 192.168.4.98)

The chosen repository is now displayed.
As this is the RDX drive, different RDX
media can be used!
Click on Advanced.
To be able to use media rotation, choose
the last option!
This will enable Veeam to perform a full
backup on every new cartridge.
Click OK, then click on Next.
Click on Next at the next menu.
Check your settings, then click on Next.
Your settings are applied. Click Finish to
exit defining this new repository.

Create a new backup copy-job backing
up to RDX starting with the job-name.

SUMMARY OVERVIEW
We created the two backup repositories “BizNAS” as a primary backup-target and “RDX Drive connected to
BizNAS” as a secondary backup target.
Backup Job “vCenter Backup to BizNAS” does the primary backup to BizNAS.

The Backup Copy Job “Copy Backup to RDX” does the secondary backup to RDX. RDX is directly connected to
BizNAS via USB 3.0.
In the backup job definition of the primary backup job, a secondary task can be integrated. So, the backup copy job
is automatically started.
