Roofing Granule Update
•  Participants in product development; Michigan Tech University, A. Lindberg
and Sons, Derrick Equipment
•  Currently in discussions with a major fiberglass shingle manufacturer to
conduct a trial with GreenSand roofing granule product.
•  Timeline; Samples sent and analyzed by client in May 2014. Client
approval to proceed expected in July 2014
•  Logistics; Prep and size at Gay site. Truck to rail in L’Anse/Baraga area.

•  Quantity requirement; 500,000 tons per year with 10+ year commitment

Rock Wool Update
•  Rock/Stone Wool has a strong presence in the European insulation
market, but to date has limited presence in the U.S.
•  GreenSand has conducted developmental work, site and plant visits with
Knauf Insulation, a large Rock Wool producer in Eastern Europe.
•  May 2014, shipped twenty tons of GreenSand product to Slovenia for Pilot
Plant Testing which commenced in June.
•  Trial results expected August 2014. If positive, we expect to enter into a
long term agreement to supply 500,000 tons per year.
•  Knauf requires us to control 20,000,000 tons of stamp sand to insure a
long term supply of material.

Copper Extraction Update
•  Annual Production; Process 1 million tons of raw stamp sand
•  Reduced to 200,000 tons of concentrate containing 15 lbs of copper per ton
•  Results in 3 million lbs of copper cathode annually
•  Silver extraction also possible
•  Material may be processed in EMEW plant at White Pine
•  Michigan Technological University conducting gravity separation tests.
Expect to increase copper recovery rate

Processing Site Logistics
•  Plant Location; On the sands adjacent to Keweenaw County Road Commission
property in an area that will limit impact to local residents.
•  Sequence of Removal; Begin at northernmost deposit to limit further migration into
the lake. Coordinate with USACE for deposition of dredged material. Provide for
retaining wall by others.
•  Method of Transport to/from the Plant; Excavate with heavy equipment. Transport
to plant via stamp sand. Truck transport to L’anse/Baraga.
•  Remaining Material; Used for other products. Stockpiled adjacent to Keweenaw
County Road Commission property in responsible manner to eliminate erosion into
lake.

GreenSand Benefits
•  GreenSand is positioned to start processing material immediately
•  The GreenSand process will achieve all of the Ecosystem Restoration
Objectives by permanently removing the Stamp Sand from the Gay,
Michigan deposit site
•  $5.0 - 10.0 million dollar investment in L’Anse / Baraga, MI to build a transload facility for GreenSand products
•  $5-10 million investment in Keweenaw County
•  GreenSand will create 10 direct and 50 indirect new jobs initially growing to
36 direct and 108 indirect by year three (Unemployment rate in Keweenaw
County is 13.2% and Baraga County is 12.7%)
•  GreenSand and MTU have a joint patent on the commercial development
of the Stamp Sands
