The mission of the Idyllwild Arts Foundation is to promote and advance artistic
and cultural development through education in a beautiful, natural environment
conducive to positive personal growth.
The Idyllwild Arts Academy provides pre-professional training in the arts and a
comprehensive college preparatory curriculum to a diverse student body of gifted
young artists from all over the world.
The Idyllwild Arts Summer Program provides arts instruction and experiences of the
highest caliber to a diverse student population of all ages and abilities.
OPPORTUNITY: ASSISTANT DEAN OF ADMISSION
LOCATION: Idyllwild, CA 92549
REPORTS TO: Dean of Admission
STATUS: Full Time Exempt
SUPERVISES: No one
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under general direction of the Dean of Admission, the Assistant
Dean of Admission is responsible for assisting the Dean of
Admission and the Associate Dean of Admission in
administration of the Admission office and conducting the
admission process, including ensuring amicable working
relationships with all facets of the school community and public.
Incumbent will work with Admission office staff and members of
the Administrative Council as needed, to develop admission
materials and assist with marketing of Idyllwild Arts. May be
required to travel, both domestically and internationally for short
and/or long duration trips.
The Assistant Dean of Admission will serve as an initial source of
information about Idyllwild Arts Academy and the admission
process for prospective students and families; respond to
inquiries and follow up with prospective families; review and vet
applications as a member of school Admission Committee;
conduct admission interviews as one of several representatives
of the admission team; meet with prospective students and
families visiting the school, including leading campus tours;
assist in planning and delivery of admission information sessions
and other admissions-related events. Recruitment within the
west coast of the United States is a key aspect to this position.
Staff member will be responsible for fostering and establishing
admission markets for Idyllwild Arts Academy throughout the
US. Work in this area includes evaluating potential domestic
admission markets; significant travel throughout the year to
support admission of students to Idyllwild Arts Academy;
relationships with educational consultants, school officials and
parents of domestic students; and planning domestic admission
events.
Admissions Essential Duties
· Is involved with all aspects of admission process including
assisting applicants with the application process, conducting
tours on campus, performing family interviews, attending
school fairs and recruitment events, advising students, and
interacting with current students and school community
members in matters concerning admission and students.
· Works directly with the Art Chairs to determine appropriate
recruitment efforts as well as communicate requirements for
each major effectively.
· Supports Idyllwild Arts marketing/public relations/media
campaigns and/or events, and attends student performances
as often as possible.
· Works closely with the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program in all
aspects of recruitment.
· Meets enrollment goals for assigned target recruitment
area(s).
· Travel on behalf of the Idyllwild Arts Academy for recruitment
and other school related events.
· Speak publicly to individuals and groups, on-and-off campus.
· Meets and tours prospective families during on-campus visits.
· Coordinates the student tour guide program.
· Develops and maintains close working relationships with key
K-8 and feeder school constituents.
· Assists in the development and maintenance of the
admissions office recruitment plan with the purpose of
promoting the School’s visibility and general recruitment
efforts.
· Assists in the development, maintenance and execution of
the department’s communication plan to prospective and
admitted students.
· Evaluates and executes admission decisions on applicant files.
· Develops and monitors statistical reports to enhance
recruitment strategies yield management forecasting, and
operational efficiency.
· Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
· Principles and practices of independent high school
admission criteria and financial aid administration
Ability to:
· Thoroughly learn and work with the student database
· Establish and maintain good working relationships and
communications with interested
Families and students, and the school community
· Plan, organize and establish goals for enrollment of the
academy, make recommendations and gain support for those
goals.
· Manage conflicts between different interests competing for
enrollment.
· Communicate clearly in English both orally and in writing and
to make oral presentations to families and larger groups on
behalf of school programs.
· Travel throughout the United States.
· Proficient in working with CRM system.
Education:
· B.S./B.A. degree from an accredited college and one year
experience in an admission or financial aid office OR
· At least 3 year's full time experience in an independent school
or college/university admission office with direct recruitment
and/or marketing responsibilities.
Other Requirements
Compliance:
· Requires possession and maintenance of a valid California
Driver License.
· Pass criminal history background check as required by CA
Education Code Section 44237, and pass a TB test.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position an incumbent is required
to regularly remain sedentary for long periods of time, processing
admission and financial aid information and paper work both
manually and on a computer. Specific vision abilities include close,
distant and color vision perception and the ability to adjust eye
focus. Reaching with the hands and arms and use of hands to finger,
type, and manipulate a computer keyboard and mouse is required.
Additionally, the incumbent must be able to converse in clear English
both written and orally, over a telephone and in person, and be able
to make public presentations. Occasionally, incumbent may be
required to lift up to 30 pounds, traverse uneven terrain while
moving about campus in all weather conditions, bend and stoop,
conduct tours and show visitors campus facilities, and provide their
own transportation for local and remote events. Work hours vary and
may include days, nights, and weekends. Reasonable
