Ready to reach your fitness goals? Emily Duval
Ledger, a certified personal trainer though the
American Council on Exercise (ACE), shares a
few tactics to help you achieve and maintain
the body you want.
Write it down! The easiest goals to achieve are
those that are clearly defined. Start by setting a
goal that is challenging to meet, but not
impossible, and answer these questions:
1. W
hat is your goal? When do you want to
reach it? Setting a realistic time frame is a
positive motivator.
2. W
hat are you willing to do to achieve it? What
are you willing to give up?
3. Who can help you? Who may be a challenge?
Be specific! Writing it down helps clarify what
you are really after, and keeping it in a visible
place can be great motivation to stick with it.
For example, if you are looking to slim down
and lose fat, build some lean muscle, take your
measurements, record your goals.
Often, it is ourselves – not outside obstacles
that stand in the way of our goals. To combat
these personal “roadblocks,” create a plan for
yourself that encourages positive behavior and
keeps you on track.

BRAIN & BODY
EXERCISE FOR THE BRAIN AND BODY
We need to exercise BOTH our brains and
our bodies. By improving the brain’s
executive function, we force the brain to
give the mind a workout to strengthen the
cognitive muscles. We feel younger
whenever we learn something new
because we are exercising our brain. This
can be playing bridge, learning Spanish or
learning choreography. If we want to feel
younger even into our 80s and 90s, we
need six days a week of physical exercise.
BEGINNING BRIDGE 2
Mondays 5:45 – 7:15 pm | $72/6 Weeks | Mar 30 – May 11
(No Class April 13th)
Overcalls, Takeout Doubles, Weak 2 Bids, Preemptive Bids,
Blackwood and Gerber, Strong 2 Bid with 2 Waiting Response
We need to do something, even if only a
walk or a yoga class SIX days a week.
BEGINNING BRIDGE 3 PLAY OF THE HAND, PART 1
Thursdays 10:00 – 11:30 am
$72/6 weeks | Apr 2 – May 7
Introduction to Play, Percentages and Probabilities, How the
Auction Influences your Play, Winners & Losers and Creating a
Plan, Taking Tricks and Establishing a Line of Play.
Cardio exercise helps prevent heart
disease, the #1 killer over all others. If it
involves choreography, it also works the
brain! Strength exercise helps alleviate
pain from arthritis by keeping our muscles
strong so we don’t use our joints so much.
Flexibility exercise improves our quality of
life by improving our balance and agility.
SIX days a week, do something for your
body and your brain!

better control of the ball. The skills learned at the camp will
help guide the players in future seasons.
