All are welcome! Join members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America as we serve and love our neighbors, near and far. Local
projects include:


Serving a meal at Metropolitan Ministries
Cleaning-up a cemetery near Oak Grove United Methodist
Church

Sewing quilts for Lutheran World Relief (at church)

Crocheting sleeping mats for the homeless (at church)

Collecting grocery donations to support food banks (at a
nearby Publix)

Singing hymns at an assisted living facility (meet at 1:45
p.m.)
In addition, elementary and middle school youth will be making no-sew
blankets and hats for the needy (at church), and high school youth will
be traveling to Orlando to help at Give Kids the World. You don’t need
to be a member Grace Lutheran Church to join the fun! To register
and further details on the scheduled projects, please visit our campus
or call the church to speak with Nadine, 961-8747. All projects start at
12:15 p.m. (unless otherwise noted), leaving from Grace Lutheran
Church, 3714 West Linebaugh Avenue, Tampa FL 33618 (near at the
corner of North Dale Mabry and Linebaugh).
The Women’s Fall Gathering will be at
Lake
Yale,
November
11-13.
Registration begins in September. The
cost is $189.00 which includes lodging
and meal. There is a day registration
which begins at $40 if you are unable to
spend the entire weekend at the gathering. Contact Joy Taylor after
church in Connections for the paperwork. She will be glad to answer
any questions. You can reach Joy at (931) 607-4006.
Family Meeting
TODAY - Sunday,
August 28th - After Service
Meet in the Confirmation Classroom
All families with students in Grades 6, 7, or 8 please meet with Pastor
and the other Confirmation leaders in the Confirmation classroom in
Holmer Hall (north east corner - the room closest to the parking lot).
New information for this year will be presented. We’re all looking
forward to the start of another wonderful year of learning.
Our Chancel Choir will begin rehearsing on Thursday,
September 8 at 7:00 pm. If you would like to join us
in this ministry at Grace, please let either the office
(961-8747) or Tom Tietjen [email protected] know
of your interest. We rehearse each Thursday evening
from 7-9 PM and sing every Sunday at the 8:30 am service. You do not
have to audition for our choir and be able to sight read music. A desire
to serve the Lord through music is all we ask of you. Come out and help
us “Make a joyful sound to the Lord!”
Grace Girlfriends is on the
move again.
We were
scheduled to meet on Sept
11 which is also "God's
Work, Our Hands" day. We
will meet in Holmer Hall
about 12:15 after the 11 AM
service. There will be a short meeting, some fantastic food, and
then off to any activity for which you had signed up. Dottie and
Marcia will stay in Holmer Hall and demonstrate how to crochet
mats from plastic bags (which is a project we discussed at our
meeting in June). Since the mats take quite a while to make, we
will continue working on them during our October and November
meetings. As always, please bring an appetizer or a dessert to
share.
Renovations continue…
GRACE FOODIES DINNER: Tuesday, Sept. 20th, 7 P.M.
Glory Days Grill – 14457 N. Dale Mabry Hwy.
Great place for sports fans to watch
their favorite teams (hockey nut
here), but also a terrific familyoriented place to dine. Their menu
has a little bit of everything for
everyone at reasonable prices.
This is one of our casual favorites, with both excellent service and
food. If you sign up for a loyalty card, points add up quickly for
freebies. Glory Days is located on the East side of Dale Mabry right
before Sweet Tomatoes with plenty of parking. Everyone is welcome
to join us for some Grace fellowship, good food, and fun. Sign up now
at the clipboards in Connections or contact Betty (891-1861
[email protected]) or Kathy (265-0387 [email protected]).
Upcoming WELCA Event
On October 16, 2016 at both services, we will have one wonderful
Thankoffering service. Pastor Jeanine Sweet will preside. There will
be a sign up sheet in Connections for women to volunteer to serve at
each service. You don’t want to miss this special event!
THANKOFFERINGS: Thankofferings are gifts given in gratitude for
blessings and are used to support the ministries of the CWO
(Churchwide Women’s Organization) and the church at large through
the CWO’s gift to the ELCA. Thankofferings may also be used to
meet program needs, such as the literacy programming, international
exchange visits and resources development.
NEW Doors: beautiful wooden
doors have been installed at both
narthexes.
Existing carpet: There are areas
that have been loosened by the lifts
running over them. So, some areas
may have buckled slightly.
Sanctuary Roof Repairs: not yet
complete.
Church Offices: painting and new
carpet installation was rescheduled
for this coming Tuesday and
Wednesday, Aug. 30 & 31.

Trailblazers @ Luther Springs
Grades 1 – 5
November 11 – 13, 2016
Theme: Prayer! When do we pray, how do we pray, why do we
pray? Am I too young? Will God listen to me? Not only will kids
play games, canoe, do archery, swim, make crafts and enjoy
campfires, they will also learn the answers to all these great
questions and more!
Contact Jill Lawniczak [email protected]
for additional information on this faith-filled weekend!
Alice and I want to thank you for praying for her
as she went through the journey following her
surgery this past January.
The oncologist has
pronounced her NED (no evidence of disease)
which is a real answer to God’s healing and the
prayers of his people.
We thank you also for
cards, gifts and other kindnesses extended to us during this period
of time. Alice is back to teaching all her lessons and playing at
Seminole Presbyterian Church and is feeling great.

Pray for those continuing to be impacted by flooding in Louisiana
and elsewhere and for all of those whose lives were lost and/ or
affected by the earthquake in Italy yesterday. Let us all remember
