Ms. Kitty’s Corner
Thank you so much to the
parents that made time for
our annual Work Day! The
event co-chairs, Ashley and
Kevin Young and Kirk and
Kim Lanier organized and
orchestrated
a
very
successful
day
of
accomplishments.
I know
Saturdays in the spring can
be hectic and require lots of
juggling. We always have a
surprising amount of fun
while we make PRP look
fabulous.
Check
our
Facebook page for pictures
and more details. We also
would like to thank the
families that made financial
donations, as well as Lowe’s
for some of our supplies and
Sun Fresh Market for water.
The joy of Work Day is in the
teamwork and the spirit of
giving. Thank you again for
April 2015
displaying part of what
makes you the very best
group of preschool parents
in Dallas!!

trip to the Dallas zoo and our
Book Fair.
Happy Spring!

fundraiser. Our grand total
this year was $440! Ms.
Mary Ann’s Class (formerly
Ms. Kay’s class) raised $144
of that total, so they will
enjoy an ice cream party
to
celebrate
their
generosity. Congrats!
I hope the men of PRP
enjoyed the night off at
Happy Hour last month.
Thank
you
Jennifer
Hemingson for planning
this event.
From the Parents Club
Finally, a big thank you to
Ashley and Kevin Young
for
orchestrating
our
annual All School Work
Day! What a wonderful
way
to
bring
the
community together and
make our school shine.
A special thank you to
Leslie and Derrik Sharp
and Kim and Kirk Lanier for
all of their hard work and
dedication.
Around this time every
year, I start to feel sad that
the school year is coming
to an end.
I have
watched
friendships
develop
and
deepen
between children, parents,
teachers and staff. I think
about the kids who will be
off to Kindergarten next
year and the families that
will be moving away.
Thankfully, April and May
will be filled with many
opportunities
to
enjoy
each other’s company
before summer begins…
let’s make the most of it.

Hello Parents!
March has come and gone with
a little snow and a little sunshine,
and I think we are all ready to
welcome spring with open arms.
Thank you to Hilary Lynch for

Quick Tips & Announcements
A Warm Welcome to Ms. Mary Ann
Ms. Mary Ann Trotzuk has returned to finish the year with our 2 year
old class on MWF. She loves teaching our youngest students, and
the Spring is her favorite time of year. The boys will have great fun
and many new experiences!
Mary Ann taught for Preston Royal Preschool for well over two
decades. When she is not with us, she is the long-time director of
the after school program for the younger students at St. Monica
Catholic School and also busy being a Grandma. Her heart really
does very much lie with young children. Mary Ann's Garden, on
the south side of our building, is named in her honor.
Please join us in welcoming sweet Ms. Mary Ann with a hello, a
high-five or a warm hug!

the front desk if you need another flyer, and invite a friend. Get
ready to have a fun, educational summer with PRP!
Tell Your Friends!
Enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year is almost full, but there
are a few more spots open in the 18 month - 2 year old class. We
are so fortunate to have the lovely Ms. Mary Ann returning to
teach that age group. If you know a family who might be looking
for a preschool, please let them know about this exciting
opportunity! She is a PRP legend!
Save the Date: End of Year Celebration – Thursday, May 14th @ 6:30pm
Save the date for Thursday, May 14, 2015 @ 6:30pm for our annual End of Year Celebration at
Preston Royal Preschool. Join us as we say thank you to teachers and staff, and to properly send
off our Kinderbound children. A delicious catered dinner will be served, so you won’t even need
to cook! Invitations will be coming home soon!
Friendly Birthday Reminder! (Vaccinations)
The Texas Department of State Health Services has clarified deadlines for when parents must
show proof to the preschool that their child is vaccinated. Instead of just having to be current for
the start of school, parents are now asked to provide updated shot records within one month of
their child turning 2, 3, and 4. We have listed by age what your child will need to be immunized
against and screened for according to TDSHS minimums. Please see the front desk with any
questions.
2nd Birthday – First dose of Hepatitis A vaccine is needed. PRP will need proof of this immunization
by 25 months
3rd Birthday - Second dose of Hepatitis A vaccine is needed. PRP will need proof of this
immunization by 43 months, so you technically have until 3.5 to get this immunization.
4th Birthday - Vision and Hearing Screenings are required. PRP will be looking for a signed and
dated copy of the results on our Annual Health Form within 120 days of 4th birthday.

Annual Zoo Trip – Tuesday, April 14th (School closed.)
On Tuesday, April 14th, PRP will be closed so all children, staff, and parents can go to the zoo.
Some parents choose to take off from work to escort their child for the day while others
arrange for a grandparent, nanny, or family friend to enjoy the adventure with their child.
A form will be sent home for you to purchase extra Preston Royal t-shirts for children and
adults, as well as discounted zoo tickets.
Children and adults are encouraged to wear their t-shirt so that our group members are easier
to identify.
Families may ride the DART train. The Red Line train leaves the Forest Lane station at
8:45, Walnut Hill at 8:48, Park Lane at 8:50 and Mockingbird Station at 8:56, arriving at the zoo
by 9:22. Up to two children under age 5 ride for free with a paying adult. The center doors of
each car of every DART train are designed for “everything that rolls” such as strollers,
wheelchairs, and bikes.
If you decide to drive, please be parked and at the zoo entrance by 9:25.
The next step is for children and their parent to find their teacher to check in. Each teacher will
have a colored paper balloon to help her be spotted easily. Please line up with your child
behind your teacher.
Once everyone has been counted and checked in, we will all enter the zoo. At 11:30, we
meet at the Cat Green in Zoo North to eat lunch. Some families bring lunch while others
purchase it at the Zoofari Food Court nearby.
After lunch you may continue to tour the zoo, or head home for a well-deserved rest.

Book Fair Week – Monday, April 27th – Friday, May 1st
Our Scholastic Book Fair
theme, Under the Sea, is
part of an exciting reading
and fundraising event that
brings
to
school
a
wonderful selection of fun,
engaging, and affordable
books kids want to read.
Giving kids access to good
books and the opportunity
to choose their own books
helps motivate them to
learn to read. Like most
acquired skills, the more
kids practice reading, the
better they will become.
The
school
earns
a
combination of money &
points, based on the
amount of books sold, that
are used to purchase
books and equipment for
the school. There will be
March Pictures

plenty of opportunities for
families to drop in for a
treat while you shop. A
schedule of times and the
fun activities and events we
have planned will be sent
home and posted on
Facebook as the Book Fair
gets closer. We will need
parents to volunteer to
work the register in the
mornings that week. If you
are
interested,
please
contact Shauna Nafziger at
