USO There are two USO centers in Hawaii: Airport Center at Honolulu International
Airport, open 16 hours a day (everyday) and Hickam’s Air Mobility Command terminal
(MAC), open 24 hours a day. Both facilities could use your help. If you are outgoing,
friendly, and desire to help military personnel and their families, we have a position for
you! As a center host/hostess, you assist guests with travel needs, information, assuring a
light snack is available, making coffee, have sodas and snacks available for purchase.

Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund at USS Arizona Memorial Museum became a part of this
historical project that will honor and commemorate our fallen heroes and surviving

American Red Cross at Tripler Army Medical Center is looking for volunteers to work
in the Red Cross Office and in numerous departments throughout the hospital. Licensed

The Armed Services YMCA has branches at Wheeler Army Airfield and Aliamanu
Military Reservation (AMR). Both centers provide a variety of family oriented programs.

US Army Museum of Hawaii. Meet people and learn some history all at the same time.
This is a great volunteer opportunity to serve as a receptionist/greeter for the US Army
Museum of Hawaii. Duties include provide museum brochures, answer basic questions,
direct visitors, enforce dress standards and monitor closed circuit TV cameras. Benefits

Tropic Lightning Museum has interesting history about Schofield Barracks and the
25thInfantry division. Are you interested in history? Volunteers are needed to create
archival mounts using the museums archives and database. Are historical videos more up
your alley? How about helping out and transferring them from video to CD? Want to do a
little bit of everything? You will get the chance…rotation is practiced at the museum.

U.S. Vets: The mission of U.S. Vets is to create conditions for the greatest number of
homeless veterans to reach their highest level of independence. We need volunteers to
assist in a wide range of supportive service programs including: employment and work
therapy programs, food service-hosting and providing special meals, community-based
primary health care, money management training, life skills programs, job skills training,

CYS Youth Fitness and Sports needs Youth Sports volunteer coaches. Looking for
dedicated and positive individuals who would like to volunteer their time to help the
youth of our military community develop sport skills and knowledge, good

Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for individuals who would like to work at
the information desk to greet and assist veterans who are coming in for their clinical
appointments. Additionally, volunteers are utilized in areas of general clerical support,
assisting staff in caring for patients, providing information services and recreational

BOSS is a Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program for single Soldiers. Join BOSS on
one of our volunteer & recreational outings. We work with groups within the community,

The Family Readiness Group (FRG) As part of the Army Family you can contribute to
your unit’s overall readiness and become an essential part of the mission. Become
involved in your unit’s FRG. Each of these groups plays an important role in the
effectiveness of a Soldier’s ability to do their job. Knowing that someone will be there to
lend a hand when they are away makes all the difference. By getting involved, you will
meet new friends, become part of a team, and play an important role in the unit. For more

Institute for Human Services Oahu’s largest 24-hour/7 days a week emergency walk-in
shelters with opportunities for individual volunteers or groups. IHS also has internships
available to qualified individuals with flexible scheduling. One shelter offers essential
emergency service to homeless men, and one to women and families with children. IHS
serves an average of 800 meals per day and offers case management among other things.

Adopt-A-Highway is a public service program for volunteers to pick up litter along
Hawaii’s State highway. It’s a way for environmentally conscious citizens to make a
contribution to a cleaner State. In addition to a more attractive roadside, participants help
to prevent pollutants from entering our storm drains, streams and the ocean. Community
groups, churches, businesses, or individuals help maintain 2 mile section of roadside
within Hawaii’s State Highway System for a 2 year period. The Adopt-A-Highway
program provides a great opportunity to promote civic responsibility, community pride,

Honolulu Habitat for Humanity (HHH) affiliated with the worldwide movement of
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). Our goal is to use local resource to eliminate
poverty housing on Oahu. We recruit help from individuals, churches, and businesses

Operation Homefront provides direct services to alleviate a military family’s or
individual’s actual/complete emergency financial burden, counseling and/or recovery
support. Emergency financial assistance in the form of checks paid directly to mortgage
lenders, auto mechanics, contractors, hospitals, doctors, dentists, and other providers.
Other emergency funding assistance, which an applicant receives within 24 to 72 hours,
