Nutritional information
The Hunny Nurseries ensures snacks and
meals that are provided are varied and
nutritious. Meals are chosen to reflect the
cultural backgrounds of all children. All meals
are prepared fresh each day and dietary
requirements are individually tailored, so that
any specific foods relating to allergies will
not be given. The menus are devised and
followed over a four weekly rota. This applies
to breakfast, snacks and dinner. Meals and
snacks are treated as social events with
staff eating on occasions with the groups
of children. Where possible the children are

encouraged to serve the meals themselves.
Children are also encouraged to pour their
own drinks and where needed the staff will
support and assist the children at all times.
We will do our best to cater for any special
dietary requirements such as dairy free,
diabetic, vegan diets etc. The nursery cooks
will treat dietary requirements with respect,

meal is the same as the other children.
All weaning foods are provided by the Hunny
nurseries. When your baby/child is ready for
weaning, we provide a varied weaning menu
which will allow them to experiment with
different textures and flavours. This is freshly
prepared by our resident cooks.

Outdoor play
Our outdoor environments provide
opportunities for children to flourish. We
operate an all-weather policy, as children
wear appropriate outdoor clothing and
enjoy playing and exploring come rain or
shine. Outside play forms a large part of daily
activities. All children will have access to the
outdoors on a daily basis. Being active is
essential for the brain and body development.
All activities and play is supported
and planned for outdoors on a
daily basis.

Each child will have an individual learning
journey which is unique to them. A learning
journey is a story of your child’s adventures
and achievements throughout their early
years at the Hunny nurseries. The Hunny
nurseries build these learning profiles of your
child experiences via an electronic learning
journal. We are one of the first nursery groups
to use this method of technology to create a
more efficient professional method of sharing
your child’s success and experiences.
