Partners Collaborate for Green Drinks
Networking Happy Hour
Montgomery Business Development
Corporation Launches New Website
The July 25 Networking Happy Hour was another
successful collaboration between GreenWheaton, the
Women Business Owners of Montgomery County, and
the Wheaton & Kensington Chamber of Commerce.
The Montgomery Business Development Corporation
(MBDC) has launched a new website that includes the only
tool in operation that enables users to see available sites or
leasable space throughout the County. It also has extensive
demographic information.
The group of business people and community activists met
for an evening of networking and delightful conversation.
As always, there was a raffle with prizes and giveaways,
along with food and drink specials.
The website includes business-friendly features, data
resources and information to support existing and future
business and development in the vibrant economy.
The site, which is free andavailable to all users, is at
www.montgomerybusiness.org
The Montgomery Business Development Corporation was
established by the Montgomery County Council in 2010 as
an apolitical organization to provide a business-friendly
perspective regarding economic development issues.
MBDC’s goals include providing strategic planning,
retaining and attracting business and legislative and
regulatory advocacy.
Wendy Howard of WH Consulting, Naomi Abrams of
WBO, and Vicky Surles of the Chamber planned the event
that was held at The Limerick Pub, 11301 Elkin Street,
Wheaton, MD 20902 (301-946-3232).
Features of the MBDC website include:
• The Site Selection Tool. This will enable site selection
consultants, brokers, developers and prospective businesses
to have access to a detailed database of land and buildings
in the county. The Site Selection Tool is linked to Loopnet
to offer the most current available real estate database.

• Marketing Assistance. Comprehensive data and marketing
materials are now available to promote doing business in
Montgomery County. Website visitors can get details on
the location of the County (including maps), information
on business advantages, major employers, operating costs,
the local government, infrastructure, talent, culture and
lifestyles.
Continued on page 4
• Economic Data. This section provides current and
relevant regional economic and demographic data, which
supports the expansion of existing businesses while also
presenting marketing opportunities for new business
investments.

July 25 Networking Happy Hour
Ledo Pizza and Pasta
Continued from page 1
Family-Owned and Community-Oriented
Wheaton Green Drinks meets on the 4th
Thursday of the month. GreenWheaton,
Inc. is a Maryland non-profit dedicated to
engaging the community in education and
outreach that promotes Wheaton, MD as
a model sustainable community with a
“visibly green” and healthy environmental footprint.
www.greenwheaton.org
The Ledo Pizza and Pasta at 2638 University Boulevard
West, in Wheaton, has been in Sam Sheth’s family since
September 1997. The Sheth family has worked hard to
keep their customers happy for 16 years.
The Sheth’s are also known to help the community by
creating jobs for locals, hosting various fund raisers for
local schools, churches, and other non-profit organizations.
Sam is the face of the Wheaton location as the manager;
he loves to work, and is a perfectionist when it comes to
cleanliness and client satisfaction.

LEDO has been making pizza since 1955 when Robert
Beall opened the first restaurant in Adelphi, Maryland.
The concept was to provide high quality food at a great
value in a comfortable, family atmosphere. The pizzas are
rolled-to-order using fresh handmade dough topped with
the high quality cheese and tomatoes.
Word-of-mouth originally made LEDO a favorite
spot for local residents, the University of Maryland
community, and the Washington Senators. Bobby Allison,
“Tex” Clevenger and other members of the New York
Yankees and Washington Senators ate at Ledo Restaurant
in the 1950s.
And ….The Women Business Owners of Montgomery
County (WBO) is a volunteer networking organization
that represents a wide variety of women-owned companies,
independent businesses, and for-profit service organizations. www.wbo-mc.com
That legacy lives on today – the original families now pass
the tradition on to other families in 100 franchises that
uphold the high standards that made LEDO Pizza famous.
Very little has changed since 1955. LEDO Pizza is still
rectangular. The round pizza pans seen today were new in
the 1950s. Rectangular baking pans were readily available,
hence the square pizza.
Other entrees include calzones, lasagna, spaghetti, soup,
salad, and breadsticks. The subs are made with freshlybaked bread.
Ledo Pizza stands firmly on a foundation of community
in a warm family friendly environment.
