A message from Canaan Manley, your new newsletter editor.....
As you read in the November newsletter, Tom Phillips has handed the reins of our monthly
publication over to me. Tom gave a brief introduction of my background, but I‟d like to
elaborate a bit as I am the new kid on the block to the newsletter and MCC in general. I
am a transplant to the South as of ‟99. I grew up in Colorado and moved to Nashville after
college graduation in „99. After living outside of Nashville for 5 years, my wife and I
moved to the Jackson area. We currently live outside Flora on a small farm with a few
animals. I am an Engineering Manager for the Nissan factory in Canton, MS, and as Tom
mentioned I am a car guy (or a geek as I think of myself). I have owned a variety of cars
over the last 20 years including a ‟71 GMC 2wd truck, an ‟83Mustang 5.0L convertible, an
‟89 Ford Mustang 5.0L GT, a Chevy Blazer with a 7” lift kit, a Chevy Beretta, a couple
Ranger trucks, a Chevy full-size truck, a Nissan Altima, two Nissan Versas, and I am
currently restoring a 1995 Nissan 240sx. My first Versa was shown in two import
magazines last year, which I am very proud of. I generally do all my own work unless I
just don‟t have the skills or tools, and then it‟s time to research and head to my local tool
store. You can usually find me running around with a digital camera or a video camera at
the local car events. I have a lot of photos and video floating around on various import
forums and Youtube.
As it pertains to the newsletter, I have a lot of ideas for the newsletter in the future. I
would like to start sharing more of the stories of our members; their restorations and rare
car or part finds, the trips across the country to pick up the rare cars and trucks, plus more.
The strength of MCC is the membership we have. If you have any ideas, send them my
way via email or the MCC Facebook page.
Let’s welcome these new members to MCC!

MCC‟s annual Christmas dinner will be
Friday, December 9th, 6:30pm at Pan Asia. A
buffet will be set up especially for MCC for
$25 per person. A coffee and alcoholic bar
will be extra. Pan Asia is located 720 Harbour
Pointe Crossing in Ridgeland. For more information contact Paul Tankersley at (601) 2609138 or [email protected] or Bob Jackman at (601) 919-0291 or

Mississippi Classic Cruisers is now on Facebook!
Mississippi Classic Cruisers now has a Facebook page set up for the club. It
is listed as "Mississippi Classic Cruisers". If you have a Facebook account, I
invite you to visit the MCC page and check it out. While you are there
“Like” the club‟s page and you will receive updates to your Facebook
account. Also, take time to post a photo of your car and make a comment so
others can see who has joined. Tell your friends to do the same. The page
will continuously be updated with new events, photos from cruises and shows, and member
info.
MCC Membership hits a new high – 418 members!
Have you ever wondered where all the MCC members were from? We have created a Google
map showing where all the members live. Below is what it looks like. As expected, the
majority of our membership lives in the Jackson metro area. We are starting to increase
membership in all corners of Mississippi and even branching into Alabama and Louisiana.
How exciting is that?
MCC Membership Dues for 2012 are now due and are prorated as follows:
If you joined during the below times, please pay the amount shown:
2004-2010 …………. $25.00
Jan-Feb 2011 ………. $22.00
Mar-Apr 2011 ………$18.00
May-Jun 2011 ………$12.00
Jul-Sep 2011 ………..$ 8.00
Oct-Dec 2011 ……… Nothing Due
The reason we prorate the dues for those that joined during 2011 is so we can collect from
everyone in January and do not have to spend time collecting for the rest of the year. Payment
as noted above will cover your dues through the end of 2012. Also, if you would like to pay
your dues at the upcoming Christmas dinner, someone will be available to take your payment.
Make your check payable to “Mississippi Classic Cruisers” and mail to P.O. Box 592,
Madison, MS 39130. If you have questions about your dues, please contact Tammy
Thompson at [email protected].
