THE LOCATION
The apartments in the Lightbox, situated within the confines of MediaCityUK,
offer a fantastic opportunity to invest in one of the most exciting projects in
Manchester. MediaCityUK sits on the famous Manchester Ship Canal, connecting
Manchester to the rest of the world. The setting offers a tranquil waterfront
location with views across to the Lowry Arts Centre, Imperial War Museum North
and Old Trafford football ground, home to Manchester United Football Club.
Greater Manchester is situated in
the North West of England with a
population of 2.73 million and is
the second most populous urban
zone in the UK. More than 5 million
people live within a 30 mile radius of
Manchester. Manchester is the largest
and fastest growing regional capital
in the UK, generating wealth equal to
that of Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield
combined. It comes second only to
London both in business terms and the
quality of its city environment, retail
and leisure amenities.
A dynamic series of public/private
partnerships has delivered an
unrivalled track record of development
across the built environment.
Manchester is a focus for businesses
which serve local, regional and
international markets. More than
96,000 people are employed in banking,
finance and insurance. The Cooperative Group, the world’s largest
consumer-owned business is based
in Manchester and is one of the city’s
biggest employers.
Generating over £56 billion of GVA
(Gross Value Added), Manchester
City Region contributes 52% of the
Northwest’s total economic output.
With economic growth outstripping
that of the rest of the UK, Manchester
is demonstrating its importance to
the regional economy, the North
of England and the UK as a whole.
Manchester has a well educated, skilled
workforce of 1.4 million and a GDP of
£28 billion.
M62, M56 and M6. Manchester
Airport (the UK’s largest regional
airport) is situated just off the M56
motorway and is approximately
a 25 minute journey in the car.
Manchester Airport is also accessible
by train from Manchester Piccadilly
railway station.
The workforce – 65% of it aged
under 45 – has excellent language,
technical and customer service skills.
The university population is one of
the largest in Europe. These factors
combine to make Manchester an ideal
location for corporates.
Key drivers of this growth are
undoubtedly the strength of a dynamic
private sector and the increasing
attractiveness of the city region as a
business location.
Manchester’s incredibly competitive
business costs continue to be
instrumental in this and are a major
facet of the city region’s business
offer. This, combined with the highly
skilled labour pool and ample property
offerings means that Manchester
has the ideal business conditions in
situ to attract and retain leading
industry players.
As a result, a large proportion of
the FTSE100 companies now have a
presence in Manchester City Region
and around 40% of the Northwest’s Top
500 companies are based here.
The Northern England economy is
expected to perform well over the
next five years. It will be helped by
the Northern Powerhouse initiative
launched in 2015, a Government
proposal to boost the economies
in Northern England supported by
transport and investment in the region.
Transport links are good for those
living at MediaCityUK, with a new
Metrolink station on site providing
access to Manchester City Centre and
the mainline railway stations within
15 minutes. Trains from Manchester
Piccadilly to London Euston run every
20 minutes with a total journey time of
approximately 2 hours. The M60 orbital
motorway is a 5 minute drive from
MediaCityUK providing access to the
main motorway networks of the M61,
Manchester is the largest and
fastest growing economy outside
of London with a proud tradition
of entrepreneurship, creativity and
innovation. The city has transformed
itself into one of Europe’s most
dynamic and exciting cities in
which to live and work, boasting an
increasingly diverse economy and a
real sense of investor confidence.
Voted best UK city for a new
headquarters, Manchester is
the regional centre for finance,
commerce and retail.
World-class transport links combine
with quality commercial space
makes Manchester one of best cities
in Europe in which to do business.
As a result, major corporations
such as the Co-Operative Group,
Ticketmaster, Royal Bank of
Scotland and the Bank of New York
have chosen to establish operations
in the city.
Manchester is an ambitious city and
is continuing to develop itself as a
centre of national and international
significance, where businesses and
residents alike benefit from the
economic and social improvements.
Through unique strategic
regeneration frameworks, citywide redevelopment continues at
a fast pace spanning commercial,
residential and recreational offerings.
Already home to the tallest residential
building in Europe, Manchester
will soon boast the UK’s highest
skyscraper outside of London.
Manchester is rated best
city in the UK by the
Economist Intelligence Unit.

Manchester. Situated in the heart of
Manchester City Centre, the area
bustles with life - tradesmen and
tourists alike, and is particularly well
worth seeing on Sundays, when ethnic
Chinese traders from all over the county
have traditionally descended on the
area to buy in food supplies from the
proliferation of small shops, herbalists,
gift shops, restaurants and markets.
The region has 350,000
